Because you can and should dance to this, thanks to a fantastic sample of Bettye Swann's "Kiss My Love Goodbye". The metaphor is direct enough where your mind doesn't wander, thinking about PB&J rule 34. Despite the song constantly telling you to "visualize it", there's no real ambiguity. Either that, or my theory that "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" was the first big trap hit of the Internet age is closer in truth than I thought..

My theory for "Marvin Gaye" is that, it's actually an in character song from a musical that's not been made (yet?) where Sam Smith is a gay guy in high school and is dating Megan Trainor to cover it up, and the total lack of chemistry is there because they really don't have anything going on.
