Just gonna copy and paste my comment to reply to this one: Proguides, i love ya, but this disrespect and just completely fake information about my main plant is soooooo disappointing. Pretty much everything you said about plant is wrong and as a matter of fact, villager is one of the easiest match ups for a decent plant player. Villagers speed, mobility, and counter options are so bad that it makes it insanely easy to 3 stock a villager. Its only counter is pocket which only works for ptooey. And it only works for ptooey if the plant aims it bad. And ptooey is definitely not plants only good move. Down b is arguably atleast 3x better because it makes him immobile which is great for having high percentage because then he cant get launched while also being able to cover the entire stage with a move that does like 22%. Side b is insane and can easily get 60-70% damage from 0% if done correctly. If immobilized, it will drain them so fast. Plants grab is amazing as well, so much damage and so much throwing distance for combos. I can go on and on about moves. Up b, the recovery is one of the best in the game. Up a, and its spike side a are insane because of how easy it is to hit for so much damage. All in all, villager is one or the easiest characters to beat for a half decent plant main.

@@kousakabeans I’m not a plant main but I doubt a lot of the things you are saying. It doesn’t matter how well you “aim the ptooey” because a good villager main can pocket on reaction, and the massive hitbox pocket has just adds insult to injury. You mention moves like side B and down B, but those are practically unusable moves in neutral. Villager shuts down the only effective gameplan Piranha Plant has, which revolves around using ptooey, while Villager can easily zone out Piranha Plant, who is known for having slow and laggy moves. At best this matchup is -1 for Pirahna Plant, so I don’t think ProGuides has spread any misinformation.

honestly I'd say its not a big deal. normally, I just spam leaf shield against people that want to spam reflectors, but since bounce stays on hero just run away, use dtilt, fair, bair, dsmash, usmash, grab, it only last 8 seconds, and as long as you dont use fmsmash upair or dair you will be fine. Even Megaman's WORST matchups are perfectly doable.

You should also consider how horrible the Lucario - Bayo MU is. Bayo having a horrible kill power, killing at an average of 170% while Lucario simply enjoys it, sideB's her at 80 and she dies just to repeat the story the next stock, until at 200%+ Lucario dies of a throw.

Snake bayo too. frame 1 grenade means no combos so you get Snake to 200 and cant kill him. Then Snake uptilts and kills you with rage at 80.

This leaves him with his horrible frame 4 air dodge. However in this doesn't save this MU from being -2 for bayo still lol

Incineroar vs. Isabelle. Villager’s gameplan still involves approaching, allowing Incineroar to reasonably counter, but Isabelle’s trap oriented approach and fishing rod makes it stupidly hard for Incineroar to land any hits.

Steve also struggles against the f*cking puppy. His approach leaves much to be desired, even his gold side b. Even his amazingly unique up b can’t dodge isabelle’s crap. And steve already sucks in juggling. Advantage is steve’s only good spot, but when neutral wins are rarer than an enchanted golden apple in a desert temple, he needs to learn how to win in a losing position.

Palutena has few super exploitable weaknesses, that’s why she’s a top tier. But she does have weaknesses nonetheless. Since her tilts aren’t very good, meeting her in the air and challenging her aerials is an effective strategy (unless she does back air, do not challenge back air). Of course, it’s not gonna be a 100% effective strategy due to her large hitboxes, invincible back air, and her ability to mix up with tomahawk grabs (again, top tier), but good spacing should allow you to challenge her semi-reliably. Also, most people do not take advantage of two-framing enough. Using a long lasting hitbox at ledge while Palu recovers low (you cannot be two-framed while recovering high so teleport up B’s from above are free recoveries) can help rack up damage/kill.

I feel like Ness vs Snake is really really bad for Snake, Psi Magnet invalidates most of his gameplan. If Snake insists on using explosives, Magnet might heal anywhere between 100% to 200% over the course of an entire match while fighting Snake, which means Ness is basically playing with an extra stock.

Snake has roll and up tilt. In my opinion, those are among the most broken moves in the game and grenade is not that important. As for Ness's weaknesses, in my opinion, Ness is weak to attacks from below, which up tilt is a great choice for, and roll attack also catches landings. Snake can also tech chase with grab, down smash and roll attack, which is very dangerous.

I'm a Young Link main. The Shulk matchup feels so oppressive. Shulk can just play his game and it directly counters all of Young Link's attributes. Monado range invalidates all of the projectiles, even the bombs, and his frame data is good enough that I'm still at a disadvantage when I try to take the fight straight to them. It's pretty rough

Ganon into Steve is bad. Steve sets up two blocks and mines freely. Steve completely blocks Ganon recovery, minecart also takes advantage of his poor recovery. Fishing pole grabs Ganon out of wizard's foot, and can launch him at a low trajectory on side of stage, thus taking advantage of poor recovery once again... just so many things. Ganon can take advantage of the lag from Steves grab and upsmash, but that is still difficult if Steve knows what he is doing.

Yeah, I really do hate fighting Steve as Ganon. If you try to play patiently, Steve mines plenty of materials to do whatever he wants. If you try to play aggressively, you don’t really have any good approach options, especially when Steve has the iron for minecarts…

Honestly steve vs ganon isn't terrible, it's still losing, but ganon does well in mid range vs him, due to his lack of burst options outside of minecart, however when that's your only good burst option it's easy to expect it and to punish it. Ganon's normals are also very good at out spacing Steve's, requiring ganon to mess up at mid range, forcing steve to be wary of mashing jabs or up tilt to start combos.

Not to mention that, unlike PK fire and thunder, Rosa can't absorb arrows and boomerang for free because of the great frame data of those moves, making them at least usable in the neutral, and Link can recover against her. Tho I can see Rosa forcing Link players to shift their gameplan, I don't think it's as bad as Ness/Rosa

Shulk does really well against characters that want to get in close and land combos, but is actually not great against characters whose gameplans don’t involve either of those things, like a lot of swordies, a few superheavies, and certain zoners. Overall, the character is pretty strong though.

I don’t play either character so I’m not really one to talk but the way Duck Hunt’s tools can so easily negate the tools that Samus has to rely on seems very skewed in the dog’s favour. Unless you are able to land a controller spike and tech chase the controller’s bounce on the floor into a well-timed destruction of property (keep in mind that the opponent can counter play by camping you out afterward with a fully-charged lawsuit), then this matchup seems really difficult.

@@alolamao833 I mean, they're assuming full charge shot is being used, when pretty much every good Samus player rarely uses full charge shot. Charge shot is mainly used to force choices on your opponent for the Samus player to take advantage of, so they tend to fire more partial charge shots more frequently. Clashing with other projectiles is not that big of an issue when you do that. Duck Hunt's projectiles may trade with charge shot, but basically every single one of them has worse end lag than partial charge shot, and most of them have worse startup, can being the exception, but can is integral to Duck Hunt's neutral, so it's not always going to be available to tank a shot. And that's just one aspect of the matchup. Samus has better neutral overall, can punish Duck Hunt's recovery safely, and is a heavy character, while Duck Hunt has few true kill setups and generally poor kill power, so Samus should be living to high percentages each stock. Honestly, the matchup isn't that bad. The clip they showed just had a player with no good idea on the matchup, and didn't seem to realize that Samus needs to be the aggressor, and firing smash missiles wasn't going to win in the interaction.

Nice video. I was hoping to see DK vs Ice Climbers. As a DK main, I'm used to getting zoned, and most zoners at least have some holes that I make opportunities out of, but vs ICs desync blizzard alone shuts down DK's neutral game. Against desync blizzard, your only chance of getting in is to jump over it, but ICs can counter that too with uptilt/upairs. Then there's also side-b, which also beats most of DK's neutral options. And then there's of course the grab combos. ICs was the character that made me realize that solo maining DK wouldn't work.

Yoshi vs Puff is really difficult for Puff as she gets a lot of mileage on the fact that jumping out of combos isn’t an option for the rest of the cast. Combine that with a down air that chews shield, an aim-able projectile, and a up air and back air that hit like a truck, and you have an incredibly difficult match up for the poor low/mid tier.

I was kinda expecting Villager vs. Hero. Hero gets bounce so often that Villager only gets to use only 3 aerials and his grounded moves can’t really get in. Tree, forward air, back air, bowling ball and lloid are crucial to his neutral that bounce literally invalidates his neutral.

This might be biased since I main Steve, but I think that Steve - Shulk is worse than Young Link - Shulk. *1.* There is no way to get in on Shulk since Steve has low range *2.* Shulk has no trouble dealing with blocks whatsoever since 1 nair is enough to destroy a 3 high block wall (So Steve rarely gets to do any mining) *3.* Steves combos (that usually deal massive damage) can be easily escaped with shield art, but good look getting a combo started on Shulk anyway. *4.* Steve is pretty light, so smash art kills him super early. Still a good list tho

While this is definitely a bad MU for Steve, I wouldn't say it's as bad as you'd think it is. First up, the combo game. Steve's normal combos don't work on shield shulk, that is true, but oddly enough, he is one of the only characters who can still combo Shield Shulk anyways. It won't deal as much damage (0-to-death optimal combos become a max of 30-40%, usually a bit lower), but it's still far better than most character can do against shield art. Second, Steve's approach. You're right in that Steve has weaker range than Shulk, but there absolutely is one tool that Steve has that can get in on Shulk - Minecart. Minecart's projectile is actually pretty decent at pushing Shulk back into a corner, since he can't shield it and is forced to jump or use a committal defensive option (rolls, etc). It doesn't immediately lead into damage since Steve is so slow, but it does allow you to back Shulk into a corner, where he actually has to fight you. Finally, Steve's ledgetrapping. If you ever get a Shulk off-stage with a bit of time to spare, congratulations, you take the stock. Shulk's ledge roll is actually a little unique in that he can't roll past a TNT placed right on ledge, which lets Steve do a whole bunch of incredibly easy and free ledge-trapping setups that basically auto-kill a Shulk at ledge. It only works on Shulk, no one else, kinda weird.
