So in Australia the bar you have is crap, personally I have 2 cruisers and have had many over the years. I install bull bars mounted on the main frame, they are solid and mounted well. Now I have hit many things over the years, a cow that jumped off a bank above the road, kangaroos, snakes, trees, and thousand of kilometres of grass and weeds. One of the worst was a 6 foot king brown snake, ( one the most deadliest in the world) this critter rose up to attack the vehicle in the middle of the road. His head was at window height and we were traveling at about 60mph snakes have a habit of getting on the bonnet. The bar knocked him down and allowed me to go after him with a camera. The cow bent the fender, still a better result. To cut to the chase a "bull bar" could save your life, a ruptured radiator in Australian deserts could kill you. Now the 80 series cruiser. This is the best off-roader ever built, they are tough. Mine is the turbo diesel, it has done 450,000klm it is just run in. My other is the 75 series with the turbo diesels fte six. I have traveled all over the world including the USA. Nothing gets close to the Toyota 80TD, my recommendation to you is build your vehicle, and build it strong. But keep it as light as possible.

That is a freaking crazy story man!! Did you end up getting a video of that snake?

That's a good Aussie story, Rob. Very true too! I've just bought a 2014 FJ Cruiser, and have no intentions of going anywhere west of the divide without a bullbar! I've had a couple of potentially nasty roo encounters, so if nothing else, the bullbar is my first mod. It came with a nudge bar, but that's only good for shunting dickheads in car parks! Cheers from Brisbane :)

Series 80's are everywhere in Australia , As I'm been an owner since 1996, Bought New The main worry I've had killed a motor once, is you need a Audable Temp gauge ( After market) Landcruiser hardly ever overheat, But if your in a long trip and a hose breaks by the time you notice whats happening Your motors cooked, You may get a year or two out of it .but Landcruiser's take a long time to Die, so a dashboard temp gauge with an audible Alert in very important, There is a delay in the Dial reading and Actual Engine Temp. So once a hose breaks you have very little time to react. Visit Australia if you get time Its Awesome, ( The big cities Suck in my opinion. ) I live in on the Southern Tablelands,

I like the Slee “short bus”. Very minimalistic looking. Keep in mind that certain bumpers are only compatible with particular winches. May also need different springs in front as well.

Agreed. If you need an off road bumper, buy one properly designed for the application. Rear bumper tire mounts are also "damage multipliers", I have never used one in 50 years with my Toyotas and won't.

Ironman 4x4 America has good bumpers with the winch bolted on the the frame (not the bumper) and the bumper is certified airbag compatible (if your model has an airbag).

You're freaking right. A light collision with a drunk driver resulted in a bent fender smashed headlamp. Torn radiator. So annoying. I really wanna take mine off but can't find a single head lamp for my 80 series in nigeria. I feel its too heavy and quite useless. I prefer a long bumper. Please find one and let know how to go about it. That stuff is one hell of a damage multiplier

I'm sorry to hear you got hit by a drunk driver, that is the worst. How hard is it to find 80 series parts in your country?
@gonkinsmedia3 жыл бұрын
@@LNDCRUZIN very. The only parts sold are parts of popular vehicles like the 03 to 07 corolla, you could walk out your front door and pick up parts barely 2 blocks away. But my vehicle part was found 274 km away from my location and costs a fortune due to its scarcity... When I had to replace my alternator I purchased a tundra alternator cuz no one has the 80 series oem alternator. I had to rebuild lights from plastic and it made my 92 look like its 82 cuz its now dark and faded plastic you can see a video of it on my channel. That was after the accident about 2 years ago now its so dark. Can't order from amazon due to distance and shipping costs. Same with aliexpress.. Just waiting for the guy at some junkyard to get a part and sell to me for the price of new. I won't mind. My truck's like a combination of car parts but I always make it look presentable. Probably the only one using this vehicle within 100miles.

@@LNDCRUZIN one question though. I make use of 31x10.50 R15. I wanna upgrade to 315x70 r17 hummer oem tyres heard its got a higher top speed. How true is that? Cuz I get to 90mph on my odometer but my friend trying to keep up say I'm doing more like 95. Is my odo reading differently .

Bullbars (brushbars) are awesome, not just for extra protection but for accessories like lightbar/spotlights. You just need to add rock sliders with the extension both made from thick steel so it connects to the top of the bullbar. That way it reinforces the bullbar where it is weakest while providing extra bush/rock protection around the wheel arches.

@@LNDCRUZIN I’m starting to realise more and more the 4wd industry is very profit driven, and if you don’t want to give them your hard earned cash they will share nothing with you. This info sharing community is totally essential for the newbies out there. I reckon you could do a bunch of videos on winching for the uninitiated once you get that equipment. It’s a massive rabbit hole of required experience to do it without loosing your fingers or your face.
