WORST REVIEW YET! MAIDEN-SKYNETIC BISON XT STOL- by Fat Guy Flies RC

I am sorry Motion Rc but this Skynetic Bison XT STOL absolutely sucks in the following categories. Design, Assembly, quality of parts and flight.The Maiden was like trying to fly a drunken weather balloon. It is my opinion that Motion Rc should recall the skynetic Bison XT STOL and send an apology letter along with a full refund out to the owners and never sell such a piece of crap again.
Poor maiden with a very poor plane! Motion Rc should be ashamed.
I will not provide a purchase link since I do NOT recommend the skynetic bison XT STOL.

Sorry you had a bad experience man. Clearly you got a really bad one, but that said even when everything works the Bison is a acquired taste. With our V1 the assembly was more tedious than your average foamy for sure, and we heard about the hot light controllers, but ours never got hot. It did stop working right after a few months...the on/off function stopped working, they just stayed on. A lot of guys had trouble with the tires, but our tires held air. With our tail wheel the channel the wire was in had gunk in it and was binding. We cleaned it and oiled it and it turned fine. Flying it requires more skill than with almost any other Bush plane we've flown. It didn't dawn on me at first because I'm a 3D pilot as well and rudder is a part of how I fly, but this thing will wallow all over the place without coordinated turns...it takes a good bit of rudder to fly right. It isn't as easy to fly but the challenge was part of the appeal to me. My biggest gripe with mine was the absolutely stupid flap to slat system. When you put the flaps down the slats rotate forward and become spoilers...which kills the airfoil and makes it drop like a rock. No excuse for letting that slide...again...on the V2, and then have Wes tell us to "just use a tiny bit of flaps". Give me a break. Make it right...either give up the "cool moving feature" that doesn't help the STOL plane...you know...STOL, or given the slats their own servos and control them separately. I permanently attached the slats in the slat position so I could actually use the flaps, and then it slowed down like a STOL plane should. The slats are also part of why it takes so much rudder to turn correctly. Its easier if you just take them off honestly. That one you got is a crap show...I'd call them again and get it rectified. No excuse for an airplane to have that many gremlins out of the box.

Well thanks for that. Why be dishonest? My goal is to advise people so they can make informed purchase decisions. If I lie and they end up unhappy with their plane then I loose a subscriber and it only hurts this great hobby.

These guys getting free planes from companies and amazingly always "this is the best plane" review. I find it hard to believe that every plane is the best plane on these channels. Thanks so much, well HobbyZone has sponsored me for a while now, and they approached me. I made it clear that If a plane is great i will say what I like about it if it has issues I will say why it has issue or what i believe the problem is. HobbyZone made it clear that that's what they want because they cannot improve their products without that kind of feedback. I really appreciated that out of them. I totally agree. It flys like a wet sandbag. Id never had one flight without any issues due to the bad quality. Nearly all factory glued parts get lose. The wheels are looking great but after one year the rubber is not able to hold any air pressure, it gets pretty hard and stiff. I once flew it with the 4s setup but i was always close to stall. Good promotioned but cant deliver what was promised.

Unfortunately I got the same plane and it is a nightmare. Built was nerve breaking. Tires were leaky from everywhere. Slats and flaps not working simetrical. Totally garbage. I wish I hadent bought this plane at all too.

Hey I got the Bison about 8 weeks ago. Mine was horrendous. Where do I start? I wish id sent the whole thing back. The landing gear falls apart. The brass cups dislodge so the ball links pop out. Very piss poor design. One axle for the wheel is bent so i have negative chamber on one wheel and postive on the other. The tyres are great for 30 mins then they go completely flat. My flap servos never ever go back to flat after I've had them lowered. The 2 supplied props are piss poor quality. Who ever enlarged the holes hav drilled them off-centre so the prop will never be balanced when rotating. The plastic is very brittle compared to an APC. The worst thing is the plastic motor housing within the foam is loose. It wobbles so the motor vibrates. Countless complaints to motion and they said no stock is available to replace the parts. Send it back or offer me €300 voucher. I took the voucher thinking the plane only cost me $400. I've repaired and imporved the plane. Put in an FMS corsair 1.7m motor and will fly it on 7s. It certainly looks lovely but i wish id put the money into an Eflite 2.1m bird instead.

Great honest review, thank you. I gave up on Dynam about 15 months ago because of similar issues and realising that by the time I fix all the problems and factor in. the extra cost, time and frustration involved I’m far better off with FMS and Arrows products.

This is surprising seeing I had no problem at all with mine. The only time the model looked bad in the air is when you took off both times downwind. I think your review was a little "extreme" considering your a builder and being a builder myself, all of your issues you were experiencing are easy fixes. Just thought that the review was exaggerated. Like alot.

Very fair and I appreciate that. I was just very upset with the plane and in the end Motion RC gave me half the price back. They did not however replave the DOA flap servos or the light controller that burned up.

Mine flies fine on floats havnt done wheels, so I can't comment on that It's not an easy build. I'll give ya that I'm happy mine needed no trimming except for two.or three clicks up elevator

Well when the light controller caught fire in the shop after hooking it up by the book, that was the last straw and that was right before i found that one of the flap servos was doa also. Motion RC had me keep the plane since i had publicly flown it but gave me a $200 credit on a new plane purchase. I love Motion RC and their products just not that plane.

I suspect you forgot to fit the screw which holds the rudder in place - easily done. It's a tiny screw. The flap servo probably stripped because you didn't check whether the slats and flaps were binding or not. They shouldn't be but on mine they were, and I had to loosen all the little screws. It's all called modelling. I don't think you gave the Bison half a chance.

No I remembered the screw in fact i adjusted it several times. One of the flap servos did not work BEFORE i hooked the slats ups. And I manually moved the slats until they were freely moving BEFORE i hooked them up to the servos and yes they WERE binding but not after I adjusted them THEN hooked them to the servos. But with one servo dead on arrival I gave up on the slats. As far as "Modeling" as you put it yes it is but you should not have to do to much modelling on a BRAND NEW $400 PNP plane! no you must understand the history behind the Bison with Motion RC. motion RC knew about "DRACO" that was released not long after the Bison. The Bison was rushed into production to beat DRACO. Also my light controller burned up also and all the polarity was correct. But after all this I have not given up on the BISON she will fly again but as a simple 4 channel plane or 5 channels if I go with the flaps in a traditional setup. But your comments are fair enough and yes I need to give the Bison another chance. Motion RC ended up giving my $200 back for my troubles.

So sorry you had such a terrible experience. I've avoided buying from Motion RC to date. Very pricey across the board and the quality/value of many of their lines just doesn't seem to be there. During one livestream someone asked if they ever run any sales/ discounts and James basically laughed at the guy. Left a bad taste in my mouth, if you know what I mean. Folks at my club are happy with their Admiral batteries, but that's about it.

Yeah Motion RC relented , admitted that there are problems with my plane but still flyable and gave me back $200 for my issues. I will rework her and get her flying someday but for no I am enjoying the No FW T-33 that was bought with that money.

Not to be argumentative, but some of the issues you show could be self inflicted, could there be a possibility that in all the rotating and resting on the spinner that the prop shaft got bent, and the fact that you removed the tail wheel springs caused the rudder to fail, and the fact that you tried many different wiring methods might have caused damage to the light controller. I know these companies use cheap Chinese electronics that usually arent worth the cardboard they come in. Im not saying you are wrong, but from an outsider looking in i have to wonder, it will be interesting to see some other reviews on this plane.
