Exact same thing happened with our ‘68. Car had been sitting for 20+ yrs. Spent 3 days trying to get out. Engine seized, would not turn. Ended up pulling starter and sprayed 2 cans of pb blaster onto the flywheel/clutch/slave. Came back the next day, rocked it around and it came out. Crazy amounts of corrosion on the flywheel/trans case. Cleaned up flywheel, removed clutch, reinstalled and it fired right up! Good luck!

Years back i bought beautiful 67 bug. The owner said the clutch didn't work, you'd just it in when the engine was running and the car would still take off, and when hit the clutch you could still feel the pressure plate. Come to find out the trans output shaft welded itself to the pilot bearing in the crank. When I was all done fighting the engine removal I had to replace the trans because it broke the C-clip and pulled the output shaft out with the motor. So I kinda feel your pain.😢 😂 😢

I bought a 1600 sp, It was on an irs transaxle, just the back half of the pan sitting there, in a garage for 40 years. Should have been a 3 min unbolt and load into my truck. One of the bottom studs had bad bimetal corrosion, we fought with it for an hour, getting about a 2mm gap between the case and transaxle. Out came the sawzall. I've pulled a lot of VW engines, that was the first time I had encountered that. First 2/3 of your video I kept thinking, just cut the studs, ha ha.

well I'm sorry to say it but that is GREAT to hear . It took me forever just to get that gap for the sawzall ....not to mention your brain is like I shouldn't need a sawzall for this 3 minute wiggle and drop haha.....

The .old transmission shaft stuck on the clutch trick right Jason. Remove engine nuts and the starter and put the old panther piss right to he pilot shaft and clutch disc and let it work for a while get a regular floor jack center it over the oil drain plate and take off the weight a little wiggle and jiggle and it all comes out.😁👍
@5150mxVW2 жыл бұрын
hi Will, yes I did all that , I used the gopro to film in there and I forgot to upload the footage for the edit🤦♂️. I pulled the starter and sprayed a can of PB in there . Had a long rod and mini sledge to the flywheel through the starter hole for 20 minutes , nothing . I used the floor jack multiple times and multiple times had it level but would get ZERO movement on the bottom studs. I was hoping they would just snap off when i went nutty on it multiple times , thus the nice landing zone of the lift table. This was the severely edited version as you could only watch me wiggle it side to side, jack it , smack it, cuss it, drop it , cut it so many times🤣👍. Thank you for being here in the comments since the beginning :)....it was the studs that were stuck
