Worth buying? Dewalt bluetooth Tool Connect Tag

This NEEDS to integrate with Tile and/or the new Amazon Sidewalk so when it's out-of-range, it can be tracked down. Thieves may figure out to disable or remove it, but if they don't catch it immediately they are likely to mess up and take it home.

The best one is Apple tags find an inside space within the encasement and anybody who pass with iPhone will automatically report it to the network of lost property

Not saying that I plan on getting one, but according to Dewalt's web site: "Increase jobsite asset security by getting out-of-range alerts sent right to your device (Phone), alerting you of a possible theft or unauthorized use". So if you are at the job site and your tool walks off you should know immediately. You are much more likely to know who, or catch them then. Most people would not have any idea what the tag was so I don't think it being tampered with would be a problem until the 2nd time. Also, if I had to use the double sided tape, I'd consider taking a screw out that holds on the housing and at lease screwing one side down if possible.

Exactly! Alerts/Sounds/GPS, You cant catch the walking tools if, you cant prove its in someones rig, or at the pawn shop. I think they pushed this GPS, before working out the bugs. Especially if you're gonna accuse someone, of nicking your gear.

What works best for tags. ?? For sure we need to be able to find your tool if it's stolen farther than 100ft. ?? Geo fence good idea also

Those small key-tags aren't that great from everything I've seen. the DCE040 is a better option for power tools. It gives diagnostics and gives you the option to disable tools. It's a one time install and you can't take it off the tool without damaging it or disassembling it. I've been using some on my big hammer drill and my grinder and they work great. Maybe give them a try.

I have seen those myself but the question is: once fitted does the tool still fit in the original box with the Bluetooth adapter and battery on? Since the adapter doesn't work without the tool battery

honestly i was interested, if you think about it if some one stole it they would walk of the jobsite with it not hide it in the same site, the reason to buy it would be for the ability to track it anywhere and recover you tool. if you see this dewalt i would like to track my tool anywhere in America if you do this you got my money dewalt!!! also if you can add like an alert or censor that if someone takes it lets say away from my phone 100ft it can say hey do you know your tool has left the 100ft range or 150ft range that would be cool

Why do that when you can get the impact that has the switch on it for 1-3 it's faster

@@brandon893 it has 3 speeds but can set to what you want speeds to be 1 sheet metal screws 2 construction screws and 3 anchors is what i have mine dialed to

@@brandon893 no i was able to fine tune each setting to meet what i want with app then you are done no need to change again and you still select 1 2 or 3 on tool no phone needed setting 1 on tool sucks had to pump it up and setting 2 strips out so being able to dile it in once with phone app to exactly what i need is no brainer

I do believe you summed it up well, Brad. It’s a bit of a head scratcher. I do wonder how the batteries that have it built in utilize it? If they can monitor the temp and charging status, and number of recharges, etc, That would be useful, to some folk I guess? Thumbs up! 👍😁✌🏻

You can be anywhere and it tell you the last location your phone was when it had a connection to the tag. Load up your tools from the site, drive into the garage. Go out to eat in another vehicle. Hmm, did I leave the drill at the job site? Nope just checked my phone. I loaded it all up in the truck Or, damnit I got the drill, but I left the saw.

This is nothing but a gimmick what they need to do is make it so it’s built into the tool, including the batteries where you can track it and it’ll show right on the map exactly where your tools are the same way our phones work for instance on an iPhone, you have find my iPhone you can beep your phone or you can track your phone that’s what we need in these tools that way if they’re stolen, you can open up your app and it will show you exactly where it’s at on a map then you can call the police report your tools stolen give them the coordinates and then they can go get your tools and the rest of person
