For some reason, WoT was a lot more fun when gold ammo was still total pay to win. Probably because a lot less was thrown around. But a lot of things really went wrong. The fact that premiums are as strong as tech tree tanks. Completely inpenetrable tanks, especially at low tiers. The removal of weak spots. Insufferable stock grinds. The influence of ultra-skilled crews. Bonds and everything around them. It would be necessary to remove so many things, especially things that people paid for with real money - I just don't see it happening. It's over. The game just isn't enough fun anymore. It hasn't been in a long time. Most people just play it because it's a habit. I did the same, but when I quit 8 months ago, it was great. Felt better than playing the game has in years.

I came into the game when gold was still sold for money. There were weakspots and people could use armour but good players could still pen. I still remember that 3 or 4 tier 8 heavy tanks got their pen nerfed, IMO that should be rebalanced. Nerf armour, nerf Penetration. Then introduce weakspots again. Then you can pen the weakspots but the rest not

@@lordbogus6709 A big problem is that there are a bunch of tanks that are completely useless without gold ammo. They are literally designed to shoot mainly gold. And many of these tanks are premium tanks, often sold directly for gold. As far as I understand, WG is incredibly fearful that some changes could allow refunds of these tanks, in some cases even ones that were sold years back. And they should be - just imagine it would be possible to legally refund a tank that was sold for 40 Euros and get your money back. Why shouldn't every player that bought the tank and has since stopped playing refund it? That would create a massive financial hole.

Look at the game 5/6 years ago we should go back to those balancing parameters and gamestate. The ship is just sinking at this point and there is A LOT of water inside already. "For some reason, WoT was a lot more fun when gold ammo was still total pay to win" you just forgot that (or you did not play at that time) back when you could buy premium ammo for only gold then most of the tanks had multiple designated weakspots, while nowadays (especially in t10) tanks has like 1 weaskpot and even on that weakspot you need premium round to pen (pen in my book is a weakspot that I can pen 10/8 times not a random place that I can pen 10/3 times if the rng favors me) nowdays a t10 match without gold would be a 15min campfest draw cause most of the t10 tanks have horrible base pen compared to the armors.. and that is exactly why wg decided to not touch gold ammo.. they realized they have to rework the entire game to reduce the gold spam

One of solutions(even if its just partially) would be limiting how many gold rounds your tank can carry, based on average damage your gun does(less damage per shot, more gold allowed). It doesnt get rid of "armor doesnt matter" problem entirely, but it would make players actually think, if using gold at moment is good choice or maybe consider flanking instead. And could miss it later when its really needed against enemy that cannot be flanked. Choices. Full gold loadouts should not be posible, thats negating entire game mechanic.

It occurred to me while I was selling my entire stock of HE rounds that the HE rework was actually to make HE rounds no longer viable. Then more Gold rounds would be fired in the game. Not something I would put past them (Wargaming) especially in light of their past "updates". Yep, I sold EVERY Gold round in my inventory to.

I really hope WG listens to you and Skill, you both have some amazingly valid points and solutions, because you actually listen to their fan base. On a note for Premium rounds, I love the idea of decreased alpha per shot, however I think the pen difference from standard to premium should be standardized. one tank shouldn't have 20 extra pen while another tank has 90 extra pen. Make it a standard 20% increase as example, and maybe a 20% decrease in alpha, or something along those lines. I haven't done the math so I don't know where the sweet spot is, but it should be more consistent tank over tank. Regarding crews, I agree with keeping the crews how they are with the exception of 1 item. I loved the idea of being able to train a crew to multiple tanks. Leave the crew alone but give us the ability to use the crews in more than 1 tanks (premium tanks excluded, they can already do that)

Bullshit, HE was just as annoying because all they had to do was aim center mass and do 3-400 sometimes more. HE was fucking ridiculous and a cop-out. I welcome these HE changes with open arms. Now they just need to tone down the gold ammo as well by halving the damage dealt. Then this game would be on track to being enjoyable.

@@rannielwilson7064 Doesn't change the fact that it was completely broken you could do 400 dmg by just aiming at the general direction of the tank and completely disregard armor. HE was way more broken than premium ammo. With premium ammo you need at least aim and usually you will need to hit the weakspots for being able to do damage.

Btw if they just limited the amount of gold a tank can carry in a battle, like to 1/3 of the maximal ammo carriage, it would prevent 279e-s and chieftains spamming gold... i don't know why noone has thought of that...

I hated the HE meta ... but you're right the problem is the premium ammunition rework the EBRs: they are not allowed to shot better than any leopard while driving 100km/H - Maybe it would make sense if the EBR had the same mode as the CS63. Also, those weels are better armored than my fricking Maus tank ... What the hell NO!!! - and as you said just the same amount of them in each Team (maybe max. 1)

Having been away from WoT for about a year, I recently came back to find the game much more complex than before. It almost reminds me of the old WoW days of a good game getting more and more complicated to a point where the skill entry level is so high that the influx of new players disappear. So to keep the game interesting for the ones in, they make it more and more complicated - and thereby lower the possibility for new players to join. WoW's solution: reset game entirely. I am not saying we should go back to the times before advanced physics, but carefully roll back to the simpler days.

Two words about console. Yo Joe! What’s been happening on console has made its way to the PC version and is killing it. I walked away after 8 years. Have well over a year premium rotting away now on both console and PC. Such a shame what they’ve done with the game for quick money.

I have a better idea, they should have areas on the map that are muddy and soft that should slow EBRs and other speedy tanks right down until they slog thru the soft terrain. Like in real life. This will make it harder to just float around in a EBR. Also have slippery streets when its wet out.

Most funny thing is that this problem with gold ammo is solved with less damage on Wot Blitz and nobody spam gold and nobody is angry. For somebody who dont play wot Blitz so i have here example from game, 122mm gun with alpha 400 id doing 340 with heat ammo

Have not played much this year, and not missing it. I have a garage full of great tanks that become less meta everyday, but the frustration out weighing the fun makes no sense. You got it so right Claus. the only other thing would be to unlock each tier with your personal rating, so you don't get players with sub 3k rating jumping into tier x battles and dying straight away coz they have no clue.

Two more points from my side that should be fixed: -balance maps - there are maps on which you more or less know, that you will lose, if you start on that "wrong" side -either reduce the large performance gap between a stock and fully upgraded tank, or reduce the amount of experience needed to fully upgrade the tank and thereby increase the amount of experience needed to unlock the next higher tank

All they really have to do for the matchmaker is to balance out the teams based on the player ratings. Simple as that. I see so many games where one team is just all red and the other team orange, yellow and green (if you have XVM mod then you know what I'm talking bout).

i have 40000 battles in 11 years game, over half are arty, the primary point of spg's (tactically) is to prevent all the camping cocksuckers and to help platoon training in random battles your right one spg per side per battle. would solve it

i finally was able to give up the addiction because the matching became so terrible. one game you'r god mode against higher tier vehicles the next game you low roll damage on tanks 2 tiers below you. it became more frustrating than enjoyable.

Regarding the matchmaker: There is nothing more fun than being thrown 15 times in a row with your stock t6 medium tank with 120mm pen and 97 average damge into T8 matches staring down hoards of T8 premiums that exclusivly shoot gold. Ton of zero rounds (matches where you can physically not do anything to the enemy and just DIE getting killed by tanks that outspot you and kill you without even getting spotted) and you have to scrape together 11000 exp for the "SLIGHTLY" better gun in 100 to 200 exp increments. Shit like this does NOT make me want to buy a premium account, it makes me want to UNINSTALL.

I agree on all. I was talking about spg and light tanks to be limited on 1 per side. I was sending emails to wg, and I get ridiculous bot answers from them. Mm needs to have a proper rework, I don’t mind waiting in queue 2, 3, 4 minutes if it has a proper balance on both teams. Anyway I stopped playing this game bcs of gold spammers, 3 spg per side, ebr and some op reward or premium tanks. Also I may include lack of new maps, seeing the same maps or rewritten ones for like 6 years is not fun. And for all that time I was also hoping that it will be some maps with night mode on them, or heavy snow or rain, just some weather conditions that would make it more interesting and fun to play. It was no longer fun anymore, it felt like a job or something like that. And of course I still remember my first tier X tank that looked like a house with reload of 1 minute, I didn’t even get into it, I was not good in it but I loved it. I remember that I used to grind some tanks just for their looks, I didn’t even watched their statistics, I was not worried about penetration rate, armor and view range, I was not worried about that stuff and yet, I had much more fun playing than. Sorry Clause, but ONE?!? One arty? I've never had a problem with arty. If they are firing on you, then they're not firing on your teammates. And the Reload for Many Arties, are like 45 secs! That's like 5-6 shots a battle!! Maybe 2 if they did, but not one. With the new changes, they already have it at ONE.....because NO ONE IS PLAYING...but maybe 2.

Then you've got the ridiculous OP premium tanks that spoil the game for everyone else. The "preferential matchmaking" they get is like letting the fox into the henhouse (because the fox paid wargaming). The E25 was a classic example and now we've got the Panzer V/IV which is totally ruining mid tier games, especially when people form platoons of these monsters.

@@berlinciaga I tried War Thunder. 3 separate times. Fuck that piece of shit. The very last time I tried to play, I was in a T-34 (Russian, not American.) I drove through bushes and came across an enemy T-34 (Russian, not American) basically right in front of me. His turret was facing away and he was blazing away at someone in the distance. We were the only two tanks around for a mile. So I start blazing away at this enemy. First shot: damages his ammo rack (but doesn't detonate it.) Second shot: damages his engine and injures a crew member Third shot: Incapacitates his driver. At this point, he's realized there's a tank behind him at practically point blank range so he's been turning his turret around and now it's pointing at me. I'm seconds away from firing my fourth shot when he fires. The shell hits my turret ring, penetrates and shatters, and headshots every crew member in the tank at the same time, killing them all and "crew-killing" my tank. Let me reiterate this for people who are having a hard time picturing this: this guy was surprised, ambushed, and took three hits at point blank range from an enemy tank and STILL WON the engagement. That is beyond-unbelievable levels of BS RNG. Any game where that can happen is a game I want no part of. If you are ambushed by an exact duplicate of your tank, while you're both at full health, and neither of you has backup, you lose. Every time. No exceptions. The fact that War Thunder allows exceptions to this is why, even with all its flaws, WoT > War Thunder.

arty play didn't require deep tactical thought and the new HE changes actually require it. Now it is much easier in a normal tank to swap to an HE shell when you know you can pen a medium/light and full pen it since tracks no longer stop them. Better players are going to dominate with these changes and the scrubs that relied on only firing HE are gonna suffer. Plus Claus is a bad player statistically so nothing he says should be taken as factual since he doesn't even understand the basic fundamentals of the game but has a big viewer base taking what he says as gospel.

There is the small case of what do you do now with tanks which are virtually impenetrable when hull down?! I believe that is a game breaking issue, while your example is marginal. Same here, played on and off since 2012/13. Downloaded the game again a few times last year and couldn't take more than 2-3 days of play. Short games, clown cars, power creep, gold spam, RNG up the wazoo... It's now a hard game to consistently have fun with.

I was a windsurfer for many years and a similar thing happened with that sport. The manufacturers started making all high performance gear, After a few years the number of the people in the sport went from 2.5 million to 1.7 million because beginners couldn't learn anymore. The gear was unfriendly to beginners. WoT is getting unfriendly to an increasing number of players.

My granddad got our family into sailing, and back then everyone had a wooden sailboat, but nowadays nobody wants to do maintenance and everyone wants to sail faster and faster... Most sailboats are polyester, many have hydrofoils and a trapeze, which means beginners have a harder time learning and accidents are more severe. Our sailing club went from like 50 active regatta sailors to 20 and a few went to a more active club on the edge of a big city. Also, there aren't that many sailboats of the same class in the club, so you need a handycap factor or stuff to compensate... Wait, what if WoT tried matchmaking with mostly the same tanks in a team? (of course checking that light/medium/heavy/TD roles are all filled though)

I cant learn mechanics of any class because the second i get spotted im detonated...in World of warships i can play every ship and do some damage. Here i can only do damage with SPG. Other thanks either ricochet, shatter or i get focused from every sides and i cant get what im doing wrong. Just uninstalled and move on

@@matiassacchelli8440 You might try opening a few other accounts. I have accounts on several servers and the accounts all behave differently. Some get poor MM and poor RNG and one gets great MM and RNG. Most of the accounts are rather blah in their performance, but when you get a good one you get to unicum status easily. My skill set is the same on each account and the tanks I play are the same but my WIN 8 and win rate is different on the accounts. Not all accounts are created equal in this game. If you have XVM watch the player stats for a few weeks you will see players that have high win rates but terrible Win 8 stats over tens of thousands of games ( the one that got me started watching had a 56% win rate on 17K games and a win 8 of 260 obviously carried by the MM). Their account is getting preferential treatment in the match maker. The same applies to RNG where you see players with good win 8 but very poor win rates. The accounts are not created equally or they have hidden modifiers that gives some players bonuses.

It is god awful imo and just a massive downgrade to the old one, i'd be fine with it if it where only for the modern era tanks but its not. Its become evermore pay to win with the endless stupid premiums coming in (biggest example is the two new GI Joe tanks that just came out). In my experience even the $50 loot back pack can give you enough gold and xp to buy your way to a tier 10 instantly. Servers have gotten worse. The last time we got anything big in standard tech tree was the british lights like half a year ago (not counting the modern tanks). And the matchmaking is much worse on console to pc. Its just not the same game anymore. I still play it occasionally but like, its not fun anymore.

In my opinion to solve the premium ammo issue we need to go to its roots which is the absolute infestation of tanks with op armor with no weak spots. This game needs to go back to the days when tanks had weak spots in their armor so that you are actually rewarded for having game knowledge in addition to a nerf on prem ammo damage.

Wargaming murdered the console version in cold blood some time ago. It's been a shadow of its former self for some time. Indeed, they basically eliminated WOT console and replaced it with a new game, overnight, with little indication that they were going to do what they did. So, I relearned WOT and adapted and continue to play it... wistfully. I remember the "old" WOT fondly, and miss it like a long lost dear friend. I grieve for the the loss of the WOT that I knew and loved, and resent what Wargaming did. The "new" WOT shambles along and grows, "improves" at a snails pace, being somewhat playable, but NEVER the same. All I can say, Claus, is welcome to the club. Trust me, it ain't gonna be an easy row to hoe.

I'm a fairly new player, having started only a little over 6 months ago. I enjoy playing, but couldn't help noticing that the game favors established players. For example, learning the maps, playing vehicles with stock equipment, and employing unskilled crews are all challenges faced by new players. I haven't played a lot at high tiers yet, but have plenty of experience playing bottom tier in 7-8-9 or 8-9-10 multi-tier matches. Nerfing premium ammo in those matches would make the bottom tier even more unpleasant (or useless).

@@cognophile Nothing against you or what you do in the game, it is set up that way at this point but it does bring up what I consider yet another mistake WG has made. Blueprints seemed like a great idea, streamlined tech trees I think were a popular move as it gets tiring having to grind line after line but those along with a few other changes have sort of pushed new players up to mid and high tiers much faster and as you point out, beyond their actual level of play. It shouldn't be a problem BUT it is, flat out its a problem for everyone. It's hard to enjoy a game filled with as the boss says "Muppets", at the same time it can't be much fun being one and having it pointed out. Fast progression leads to everyone involved frustrated and I'm sure a lot of new players won't stick around and I've noticed the whole community is getting more toxic from both ends because of it.

Thank you Claus. Well said! All your points are valid. I really hope wargaming is listening. My biggest beef is the matchmaker. Too many times the match is a predetermined win or loss that last less than 5 mins. I find its not only the unbalanced tanks between the two teams but also the unbalanced teams. If you have one team that has a whole bunch of great players and another team with whole bunch of average/below average/still learning players, we already know the outcome. Its like putting a professional team up against a minor sports team. Its not going to end pretty for the minor sports team. Lol. The matchmaker needs to be tweaked so that not only the tanks but also the teams are more balanced. I think that will result in more players being happy. Nobody enjoys a game where they can only get in a couple shots before it is a win or loss.

Try war thunder. You will struggle a bit to getting into the game but once you learn you don't unlearn. You have complex shell mechanic, a lot of vehicles. Tanks, planes, coast fleet, ocean fleet. There are Germans, Russian, USA, UK, Italy, France, Sweden, China, Japan. I also stopped enjoying WoT. And it hurts my heart to say that. I play it since Jan. 2013. What I can say i enjoy war thunder more.

Glad CCs like Claus, QB and Skill are calling Wargaming out now for all these terrible changes that are indeed killing the game of late. Still a few CCs like Orzanel who think the changes are all great and will always kiss Wargaming's backside. He even said crew 2.0 was great. He says people are just whiners and dumb and says they need to get good.

Sir. You are so on point. I recently got myself two tanks up to tier 9. The EBRs are irritating. So irritating I only play the game once a week now. I really want to play more. But the last patch is pure poo - I sold my SPGS. My “fun” tanks are all now useless for the most part.

WG has never been in-touch with their player-base, they've been the same way for over a decade and they probably won't change in the future either. The very fact that people still think that if they discuss whats wrong or complain they will get a response is silly. Thing's that should of been changed in 2013 are still the same now.

First 2:30 and Kellerman nails a big issue, then goes on to suggest simple changes that could save this game. I thought pre-stun SPGs were fine with up to 3 per match but with stun one per side is enough. EBRs and other wheeled clown cars need to go away, but Kellerman's suggestions would be a huge improvement if they insist on keeping them. I would vote Kellerman for Wargaming President!

After averaging a dozen games a day for the past few years, I have played less than a dozen games in the past 3 months based on the stupid changes to SPGs, MM stupidity, and the threat of Screw 2.0 taking away crews I have spent countless hours, and real money building up. They are completely out of touch. WG can pretty much kiss my 4-500 $$$ per year goodbye.

As I see it, SPG's are necessary in WoT, just not 3 per side. I don't think the same about EBR's, but like you say they're not going away so they should have their own class of amoured car and be limited to 1 per side

@@urielseuthes7484 I find some maps call out for an arty due to areas which allow hull down tanks to hold and dominate without them. It's all good and well saying armoured cars shouldn't be in the game and most of us would agree, but I think we all know they are here to stay so the best we can hope for is some kind of work around.

@@greenzero3389 the magic word here is gamemechanics. there can be done so much things to solve your example of hulldown but that is contradicting to the gread of wg. for an instants that rock should be teared apart after some shootings, how is it possible a house still stands after unloading shot after shot , why are the maps so small, only few examples. even the arty and planes used in that event (forgeting the name now) could be a solution. But selfsustained arty in this state of the game is a no go. arty has to be discarded entirely.
