Haven't played it yet. Right now I'm enjoying the borderline OP Chito SPG. I did take a look in armor inspector though, to see the most effective way to be aggressive if needed with the Hori type 1. And in armor inspector, if you go hull down using max gun depression. The casement is actually pretty thick, about 260mm with AP normalization. I'm assuming you need around 270+ with apcr and 290 with heat?. Or something like that, I'm gonna check it again. So full how down with max gun depression, it seems is the only way to bounce reliably. Flat ground hull down, your casement has about 50/50 bouncing regular AP rounds of tier 8 heavies, more or less, and nearly zero chances of bouncing if they load gold. No Hull down at all, and you're F ed. Edit : Gun depression is 8deg on this one by the way. Was it worse before or something?. I stopped playing the game way before this line got introduced. Or the tank is so tall that 8deg seem lackster?.

I love the gun and the speed and the maneuverability. But yes, the armor is abysmal. It's like a premature Japanese Jagdtiger.. Also watching this days before WoT Blitz finally releases the JP Heavy line xD I needed some ideas on how to work this thing because is quite flimsy compared to the Chi-to SPG..

The gun bounces often so you use lots of gold. It is massive and pops on the map when you snipe. It gets destroyed fast. The mobility plus high visibility means you just get shot more. This tank is the roadblock on this line.

As a war thunder player I am happy to see Japanese tank destroyers here Because they are quite OP despite it being from Japan Especially the Ho-ri's they are literally Ferdinand on steroids with better speed, armour and gun Also Would be even better if they had APHE I felt like they should have added more Japanese TDs like the type 4 Ho-ro and it's 150mm Big boom cannon or the Glass Cannon type 5 Na-to

hmm sounds like and su12254 at tier 8 to me... i beat a full hp is7 63%wr 2k avarage damage player with 1200 hp su12254 using just the gun mantle as my armor and shoving it in his gun

I must disagree, the armour is very bouncy and when using gun depression it becomes almost inpenetrable.

wow its bad. No armou,r turns badly, not overly fast. And its just a random heavy tank gun with 2 seconds off the reload. Still with heavy tank gun handling of course and below average dpm for a td. The tier 7 is better in total not even tier for tier.
