My Dad. Died the beginning of last year , but the spring before that I went down to Mesa and played and sang My Old Man to him and he sang along with me. Most important thing I ever did in my entire life. Miss the old man tonight...

There used to be a better quality around. I look for it about once a year and it always moves me. I can’t relate to any of the lyrics but the rawness still grabs ahold of you.

Steve does it on Austin City Limits here in KZbin, followed by an amazing slide guitar version of I'll Fly Away.

"...and I'd give all I own..." yeah, Steve, I'd give all I own to have you back with us too, buddy. You died so young, but your songs will live forever.

Can't believe no one has hit on this....a clasic J. Goodman covered by J. Prine. Beautiful.

on the original recording by Steve, the last line, he vamps on the guitar missing the last line and you can hear him sniff, it's the most heartbreaking thing I've ever heard.

I cry every time I hear him sing that song. He was a true gem. He died way too young. Just like his old man, and like my old man....

John and Steve both gone now. If I were a song writer, I'd try to write something this poignant about the both of em. The thought's there, though.

How funny is it being human anyway? Satan hates us, God loves us and yet it's still confusing somehow. How to act right, Thank God for Jesus.
