I don't think so. If he was, he would be more comfortable with yelling since that's usually how it goes. I think instead he self isolated and avoided conflicts which is supported by the fact he actually does it. If he did get yelled at a lot, then the people would hate him, not be afraid of him. In other words, bruno most likely suffered from ostracization rather than constantly yelled at, as supported by his current behavior and mannerisms. He's just removed from society. He probably has some learned helplessness which further pushed him into isolation.

There's a theory that I haven't yet seen and I think very plausible: how Antonio and the animals helped save the miracle. Think about it: the toucan led Mirabel to the cave, during the marriage proposal the animals seemed to act with all intent to expose Mirabel, then the rats led Mirabel behind the portrait. Antonio was in suspiciously very good time in the reunion and already knew that his room would be necessary because the rats told him everything. Even the donkeys go out again for Mirabel to have a moment alone with Luisa. I think Bruno loved his rats more than it shows, as he even saved one just before the destruction. He and the rats had a very close relationship and they knew that he was not happy, that all what Bruno wanted was to be with his family, so they asked Antonio to help them. Antonio's purity of heart and his gift helped by animals together with Mirabel's love and courage was what save the miracle and brought the family back together.

Antonio is the youngest and sometimes young kids do things to help without telling the older people bc they're not sure or they're so sure and confident that they saw a problem and are trying to gelp so it makes sense antonio was helping subtly. When he heard that they needed a huge expanse of space he lended them without hesitation telling them he knew all along but knew it wasn't up to him to solve so he didn't tell them that till they needed him. Speaking as an introvert, I'm gonna say he probably had that hidey-hole between the walls for a long time before he ran away. He would have NEEDED a place he could go to and be alone, and in a family that size it couldn't be an actual room. They'd have found him no matter where he went, unless it was something hidden. That's probably also how he eventually socialized the rats as well. He'd been going back there for a long time, even before he ran away so Abuela couldn't interrogate him about Mirabel's prophecy.

Yeh, that's what I thought too. It's also what I did growing up. I mean, not a hole in the walls, but a place on my property that I didn't tell the rest of my family about. In my case is was a hollow in a huge bush tangle. I would crawl in there in a clear little hole, surrounded by thick bush on every side. Think of this kinda like the eye of a bush hurricane, cept the top was covered to. It was completely private. Too big for the adults, and my siblings were a lot more social than me and didn't care about that sort of stuff. Whenever the world got too much (which was often), I would crawl into it with a blanket and a book and just read for a few hours. Adult me isn't stupid enough to think that my parents didn't know exactly where I was, but for kid me it was the refuge I needed from the rest of the world. Heh, and since we had indoor/outdoor cats at the time, I even had fluffy friends visiting me when I was there. :P

And how the heck did he live and survive living in a wall for 10 years without anyone seeing him?
@emillyhale75573 жыл бұрын
I would like to see Bruno's backstory from when he's a child and teenager. I'd love see his interactions with his mother and sisters and how his volatile gift affected his relationship with them as well as the rest of the community. I almost wonder if poor younger Bruno may have been bullied growing up. Due to his shy, awkward personality and a spooky gift which he and others didn't understand, I'm sure the poor boy was picked on as a youngster. 😔 I do wonder if he had any real friends growing up? It's possible that like his nephew, Antonio he felt more comfortable around animals like rats than humans. So maybe he didn't really have human friends. I'm sure everyone has their own theory about why Bruno never married and had a family of his own. While any of those theories are plausible, my personal theory is that he simply was too shy and awkward around others to fully try courting someone he liked. Not to mention, I'm sure Bruno's reputation as the spooky Black Sheep of the Madrigal household probably didn't help much. Maybe he'd *like* to get married and have a family himself, but is currently unsure about how to go about it. I do have a headcanon that may he could have had at least *one* special human friend growing up but perhaps something pulled them apart like family disapproval or other sad circumstances. Maybe that person won't come until later into his adult years and/or will even be reunited with him in his adult years. I do think there's potential for Bruno to have a love interest and a chance to start family of his own in a sequel. I think it will be really cute. 😁🥰 Still, whether it happens or not I'd love to learn more about him and see him bonding with his different family members.

Considering he was 40 when he went into hiding, and most (but obviously not all) people generally are married, dating and/or are at least in relationship by their 20's or 30's, I think it's safe to say that there was a reason why he was still single. He was possibly single by his own personal choice (which is perfectly fine if that's what he wants), or maybe there were other factors involved that prevented him from finding the right person. In my personal opinion I think the latter is possibly the reason. I think Bruno has a secret romantic side to him as suggested from his love of romantic telenovellas (though I got to admit the content of his story was fairly questionable. 🤨 Unless he just wanted to create the most bizarre story ever 🤔🤯), so I don't think he's against the idea of getting married and starting a family of his own. 6:40 I get the impression that Pepa and Bruno were very close as children (she was the first one to hug him during "All of You," and she damn well *flung* herself into that hug). My guess is that she started hanging on to "oh, he messed up my wedding" *after* Bruno disappeared, because being annoyed over petty things was better than being sad over Bruno being gone. After all, if she'd let herself feel sad over it, her gift meant she could have legitimately flooded out the whole village.
@Furienna2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I too believe that Pepa would have gotten over the wedding debacle years earlier if Bruno hadn't disappeared. But it was made clear that when he disappeared, people believed that this meant that he didn't care about his family. Alma pretty much confirmed during her big arguement with Mirabel that that was what they thought. And it would make everybody remember all the stuff, for which Bruno had gotten the blame even though it hardly ever was his fault. They would have thought that him seemingly abandoning his family just was the final proof, that was needed to confirm that he was a bad guy. It is true that Pepa who was his sister should have known Bruno better and not believed that about her brother. Then again, I guess that them being family and her being an overly emotional person also meant that she would feel extremely hurt by his disappearance and not think straight. And the fact that Alma dealt with her sadness over losing Bruno by not talking about him made Pepa do the same thing...

Bruno has had such a tough life. He seems like a introvert, but he put himself out there (which is very difficult for introverts, I would know) just to make his mother proud of him since she likely wanted her children to help the villagers. However, instead he doesn't usually see the good futures which made the villagers live in fear more. Bruno became, in a sense, a bad word in the village. Being an introvert and having social anxiety, I try to avoid very many people because I fear that would happen. So poor Bruno probably felt even worse after that happened. Since he probably already had a bad image, the time his sister's wedding came along she misinterpreted what he said and Bruno probably had no idea why a hurricane happened after he tried to tell her he was there for her while also trying to make a joke. That could have made him feel even worse about himself. Then, the vision of the house breaking after Mirabel didn't get her gift. Knowing him, he probably felt more anxious about what the rest of the family would think of Mirabel then the vison itself of the house breaking. That led him into being driven into the walls, just to protect Mirabel. He watched as life went on without him, and as his image faded into practically nothing. Until anything anyone could have ever thought of when they remembered Bruno was just about how his visions disturbed the peace. The poor guy watched as his family, the only people he truly loved, started to think that way, also. And just remember, Bruno heard everything they said about him in the "We Don't Talk About Bruno" song. I know over the course of years time could've healed, but that song probably just brought all those traumatic memories back for Bruno, as he listened to the people he loved the most talk about how terrible he was. What made it even worse for him likely was when the whole family learned that Mirabel found Bruno's vision. We know he was likely watching at that time, and seeing the chaos it brought to the home likely reminded him of the past, when he was basically still apart of the family. Also the one person he tried to protect from becoming poorly viewed like how he was, well, he couldn't protect her at that moment, and that fear of his became reality, just like all the rest of his past fears. However, through everything, he still loved his family. Even though they saw the worst in him, he still loved them. Nothing anyone can ever do will take that love away, just knowing how it has remained through everything. He loves his family so much, he would do pretty much anything for them, as shown in how he managed to hide in the walls for so long just to protect Mirabel. I can't imagine how hard his life could've been for him, but he still managed to push through, even if he hid in the walls for a while

It really showed that Bruno channeled a lot more power than the rest of his family because even Alma could feel Bruno using his power. She knew the storm above her was not Pepa. I have a personal theory that the fish lady had a part in Bruno initially being seen in a negative light. You can see by him mentioning it later that the fish accusation was one he heard regularly. I think the fish lady was Pepas childhood best friend, in Isabella's portion of the song fish lady is the only villager in Casita with the family. I like to think that as preteens Pepa's best friend got a fish and Bruno being a typical boy antagonizing his sister's friend said it would probably die, then when her fish died she blamed it all on Bruno and going forward started painting him in a disparaging light influencing Pepa to have such strong feelings of against her brother.

I really don't see how Bruno's visions can be that upsetting gaining weight , losing hair ,and dead fish is pretty petty stuff to be mad about especially years later , it's not Bruno's fault that Pepa is a crazy hysterical person , honestly it just shows how fake and petty Alma is (life isn't all rainbows and sunshine and she is old enough and has experienced enough to know that ) it's best to hear the unpleasant stuff rather hear fake good stuff you want to hear that way you are prepared . Now for the devil advocate. There were most likely some visions that didn't make it into the movie because they were not appropriate for a Pixar movie , like Bruno telling someone that they or their family member was dying or something similar and since Bruno doesn't know when the visions happen this likely caused massive anxiety for anyone to saw these visions ,when the visions came true this likely caused alot grief and drama that Alma and the madrigals had to deal with personally , and eventually they got sick of as nobody likes dealing with drama all the time for the most part hence the reason why Bruno was basically shunned , Alma got tired and fed with dealing the constant grief and drama that Bruno's visions caused for everyone ,all though I do think Bruno probably shouldn't have told Dolores about she have to watch the man of her dreams be married to another as that's pretty tone deaf to tell a young child that.

That's how irrational popular beliefs can become, especially in small, secluded places. I think she did what she could to maintain sanity and not cause destruction under emotions she didn't know how to handle at that moment in her life.

The strain of knowing future events is probably not unlike the strain of hearing everything around you. I think it's significant though: Bruno didn't just stop using his Gift, he moved to a space where he literally *couldn't* use his Gift. He tells Mirbel he needs a big open space, and all these years he's been living in the close spaces within the walls where it's not _possible_ for him to use his Gift.

I can't imagine anyone being stuck in their 5 year old's version of a Perfect Room forever, so possibly the rooms change to reflect the person's interests or personal mindscape. Bruno is my favourite Encanto character and, in my opinion, quite non-typical for Disney. I feel so bad for him. He was mistreated his entire life for nothing, yet managed to remain sweet and gentle. Wanna see more of him with other family members after they reunited! I think we need a sequel.

I have no idea how or why but I somehow immediately knew that Bruno was going to be really nice and was just misunderstood. Before watching the movie all I had seen was a couple of ads for it on KZbin months ago (without any mentions of Bruno) and my sister showing me the songs “Surface Pressure”, and “We don’t talk about Bruno”. Somehow just that combined with watching the movie up to the end of the second song told me yeah Bruno is a pretty cool guy. Although maybe it’s because I seem to be the opposite, if I predict something will happen in the future the opposite always happens, and I happen to be an extreme optimist. A great example is how starting in 2010 I started telling everyone that 2020 would be a really good year and being the prediction I was the most committed to, I’d say it turned out about as badly as it could’ve. There are of course smaller things such as me failing to do a thing repeatedly and the pointing out that I keep failing and then being like hey I’m going to fail to do this to a person and then I succeed as soon as I say that I will fail. Oddly enough though if I wish for the future and then do an action that has the potential to grant that wish it almost always happens, such as with coin flips as a child I was able to get many dozen correct in a row as calling head or tails isn’t a prediction but a wish, and also during a 3 day power outage in my area that was the worst it has ever been I eventually got bored and said out loud “I wish this power outage would end” and then I clapped and in the exact instant of the clap all the lights turned back on at once. So basically what I’m saying is that it’s not the fortune teller’s fault when they predict something and then a bad thing happens so I kinda understand Bruno.

Bruno was the messenger, not the harbinger. He's like Absol, he warns of danger to mitigate damage from disaster, rather than cause harm. He warns of the storm, and others hated him for telling them the storm existed and was coming
