I’m white British and have been with my Thai boyfriend for 12 years it’s not common in the UK most people are surprised when I say my boyfriend is Thai. We have travelled Asia a lot and we rarely see another couple where the guy is Asian and the girl is white so we get noticed a lot 😂

I'm ABC and I have dated all COLORS OF THE RAINBOW! LOVE IS LOVE! -- I will say that media paints the picture where the white male is the hero and so many types of people generally go for white men. I hope this changes though as there is so much to be experienced of men of other ethnicity. HOT TOPIC for sure. So interesting because many of these guys seemed so nervous to speak when they were asked these questions. Most Asian guys would date foreigners if you asked, but the problem is that's it's more difficult for them to do so compared to their female counterparts. The onus is on the guy to make the first move, regardless of race or culture, and it's even more exacerbated if he didn't grow up in the West, so there's a language barrier. Plus, Asian men tend to be less assertive so even if they established communicable grounds with foreign women, he'd be less inclined to push the interaction than other men.

Asian men can be less assertive when they're in a white country and not used to it. But my Chinese mate had no problem with western girls in China. And my Japanese mate who has been visiting Australia regularly for over a decade has no problem with western girls when he's here. I think it's mostly first/second generation Asian immigrant kids in western countries who have qualities like too studious, not assertive enough, etc.

I'm a second generation Australian born Chinese. I have two uncles who have Aussie wives. I also have a friend who is also an ABC and his Chinese dad also has an Aussie wife. These couples are all in their eighties now. For whatever it's worth, my brother also seems to have a thing for aussie girls, but most of the rest of the family have chosen Asian partners.

Chinese-Canadian here. Growing up I was a lot more into white girls and just non-Asian females in general. I really wanted to become more mainstream Canadian (which was really white Canadian). However, I grew up and spent pretty much my whole childhood and early teenage years within a Chinese enclave and never really got exposed to much non-Chinese / non-Asian people and their culture. Other than my language skills my overall exposure to white Canadians / non-Asians was and is extremely limited. Being in a city with such a large Asian (especially Chinese) community (Vancouver) didn’t help either. Had a few crushes on white girls and an Iranian (well, if we’re only counting East / Southeast / maybe South Asian as “Asian” in this case) girl but that was all as a kid. If we’re talking racial demographics I’d say Canada as a whole is noticeably less multicultural than Australia. Basically you have white or Asian and that’s about it. And you see far less of certain Asian ethnic groups in Canada compared to Australia. Indonesians, Thais, Singaporeans, Malaysians etc. tend to be pretty rare. Top 5 would be Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean, and the various South Asians. I’ve found it somewhat difficult to really integrate into mainstream (mostly white) Canadian / Anglosphere culture, it’s like I’m constantly torn between wanting to hold onto my heritage while trying to integrate but it’s not easy. I’ve integrated to a lesser degree even compared to many of my fellow first-generation peers. Growing up I wasn’t allowed to take part in certain outdoor activities because they were deemed too dangerous, I wasn’t allowed to eat much in the way of snacks that lots of other kids eat so pretty much all the food I ate was Chinese or some other kind of Asian. Eventually I returned to Asia (currently back in China) which reduced my chances even further. I feel like it’s only a minority of Westerners (the “main” demographic when we’re referring to non-Asians) who really understand and appreciate Asia and Asian culture, all the Orientalism and weeb and sex stuff aside. I’m more Westernized in some ways but then yeah just the food is a problem because I don’t adapt well to many non-Asian cuisines. Also I think mainstream Canadian / American / British culture can be so loud a lot of times and that’s not really my thing either. Maybe it’s a bit different down in Australia / NZ? If it’s often the shyer and somewhat more reserved white / non-Asian guys that tend to be into Asian women, maybe it’s also the shyer / more geeky non-Asian women that tend to be into Asian guys? I personally harbor no ill will whatsoever unlike some guys who hate it when they see Asian women with non-Asian guys, love has no borders. I only know no more than 4 Asian guys (all Chinese) who are with non-Asian girls. Here on KZbin there’s Rachel and Jun and also this other channel with a Korean-German couple. If I remember correctly there’s also one with a Russian-Korean couple. So yeah IMO it’s about being a good person and just finding someone who appreciates you for that. As for the need to “alter” the portrayal of Asians in movies and mainstream media I don’t really agree with the “normalization” of how Asians are depicted in media through conforming and bringing such portrayals closer to a “white lens.” Just portray us as normal people. You can have an average white joe, you can have an average Asian joe. I disagree with using “Crazy Rich Asians” as a benchmark, that takes things to another extreme though it’s probably helped somewhat. That’s not how your average Singaporean lives. Your average Singaporean is more likely getting screwed over by the rich-poor gap and living under a dictatorship that never admits itself as such. Just me 0.02 keep up the good work!

I've travelled all around East Asia and Southeast Asia and the only place where I met western women who claimed to have "yellow fever" (her words, not mine!) was in South Korea. Even there the western guy/Asian girl couple was more common. Actually I've also heard that western girls going to Bali and Nepal to hook up with local guys is also a thing. It's worth saying that even in countries where local guys give a really hard time to foreign guy+local girl couples, it's still more common that the guy is western. Especially in Mongolia but to a much lesser extent also South Korea.

I was born to a Thai father and a Singaporean mother, meaning that I am completely Asian. The thing that you said at the beginning of the video is true and I see a lot of Western men-Thai women pairings in Thailand. I asked my parents why Western men are into Thai women and they answered that Western women tend to be more aggressive and complain more compared to Thai women causing discomfort to some Western men. As of now, I am starting to notice a slight increase in a number of Thai men who are dating or got married to Western women. Of course, I think the trend is going to change in the near future. I am open to dating both Asian women and Western women, but I would exercise some caution when considering dating a Western woman. Greetings from Thailand 🇹🇭

This is a good interview. I think most of men tend to date someone who is smaller than themselves. Height and body structure of Asians are usually smaller than other countries unless they workout so... yes it depends on person though:)

It is like that in Singapore as well. I see it all the time everyday till it is like second nature . But really rare to see an Asian male with a white girl. I am gonna say my very honest opinion is that white men are labelled as the most exotic of men in the world. Secondly, when Asian women see a white man, automatically he thinks he is rich and capable and well travelled. Thirdly, a white man is able to give an Asian woman interesting amazing experiences ..like a wonderful lifestyle something that most Asian men in general can never give. Next is that white men in general are more outgoing, laidback and stress free , basically having a good mixture of work life balance. They know how to really enjoy life and have fun and make things interesting. And also having a carefree non judgemental open mindedness .

I’ve heard a lot of people like the Asian men their family trying to like make their Mary with Asian woman because so they can keep the 100%Asian blood and the family name or something.
