Bob don’t do traditional stand up but did the Vic Reeves big night out which was a bizarre comedy show that’s hard to explain - Vic reeves is his comedy partner and did shows together for decades from Vic and bob show to shooting stars(which is hysterical) they kind of retired from that now and both do different type shows with Vic doing art and Bob being regular on this and doing a fishing show with a different comedian Paul WhiteHouse

Bob just cracks up even whilst telling true events! Man, he’s lived such an varied life… solicitor (lawyer) to comedian… he’s perfect for this show. Also, as kids growing up in the 60’s/70’s ***in a world without electronic game devices *** there would be gangs of kids playing out. I can remember ‘donkey derby’ which sounds similar ie running through peoples back gardens and clambering over fences - hopefully getting chased to add to the thrill!

Even as an eleven-year-old in 2005, my friends and I used to play a game similar to the one with the fruit described by Bob, only we used to play it with sticks and stones. We used to say there were three rules: firstly, no moving your feet. Secondly, no catching or blocking with your hands. Thirdly, if you get hit, tough sh*t. Somehow, there were kids from outside our group who always wanted to play. Looking back, I have no idea why. Kids are stupid.

TEESSIDE had nothing. There was very little to do and it was poverty centre. In 1975 my older sister and I both started University and so signed on the Dole between School and University, legal! When interviewed by the local "Evening Gazette" (Frank Bough first job) we were on the Front Page that evening, it was not common to have 3 children from the same family on a Council Estate to go to University, now it is uncommon. Bob brings back memories with a "twist" of exaggeration.

The best way to work Bob out is to ignore everything he says and just flip a coin when he finishes speaking. You should by laws of average get roughly half of them right. But allowing him to get in your mind is where most people fall down. Including David Mitchell who has at least two mental breakdowns trying to figure out Bob’s world.

Here in Liverpool UK, probably like everywhere in the UK we played a similar game. Here we went from one end of a rear row of houses hopping over fences and 'shrubbery' just to get to the other end, but without looking in windows and definately trying not to be heard or caught, we called if 'doing the gardens', simple.

When he was a young teen there were almost no video games or home computers, and few people had heard of D&D, so I completely believe that him and his friends had time on their hands after school for stupid outdoor games. We used to play outside all the time, before there was so much panic about abductors or getting run over or the idea they somehow sold us that you should drive your kids to a play center and pay for admission.

Bob Mortimer has never really done any stand-up, he started with surrealist sketch comedy with Vic Reeves who he later became a double act with. The two were most famous for hosting the 90s panel show "Shooting Stars". In recent years Bob has gained a following as a solo act due to shows like Would I Lie to You and Taskmaster. When it comes to shows that he runs though he tends to always have someone else with him, whether that is a reunion with Vic Reeves or a fishing trip show with Paul Whitehouse (where the two comedians they just talk about life while fishing). Bob Mortimer is certainly a unique entertainer!

Bob doesn't do standup. He's mostly known for his partnership with Vic Reeves, together known as Reeves and Mortimer, or Vic and Bob. They have a number of very surreal sketch shows, and are best known for surreal comedy quiz show Shooting Stars. The sketches are fine to watch individually, but, if you're going to watch Shooting Stars, it's best to watch a whole episode, otherwise it'll make no sense at all. And don't look for any meaning in their comedy. As a duo, they're dadaists (especially Vic), and revel in incoherence. And that entire paragraph doesn't do justice to how hysterical they are.

Bob is not a stand up comedian, I’ve read his autobiography, and he is/was surprisingly shy, and would not have the confidence to do stand up. He is a very surreal sketch comedian. Done some sketch shows, with odd characters with his comedy partner Vic Reeves, and they also did a panel comedy game show called Shooting Stars, which was a masterpiece of irreverence and absurd comedy, and was a vehicle solely to mock the celebrities that appeared on and not pander to their celebrity egos. The questions and the rounds made literally no sense…..but he has lead an odd life so a lot of his WILTY stories are true, but he is quick witted and surreally minded enough to make the fake ones sound true.
