It's worth saying, he *did* get a lot longer to tell the story. They spent about 40m during the recording on the Horse story, and they had to edit it down *a lot* to get it on television. Hopefully that also adds to the moment when David suggests "let's start from the beginning." They'd been there for ages already when he said that.

I would honestly be like.. ''take my money'' if they'd released the less cut versions, like I would honestly watch 40 mins of just 1 storey. Hell, sometimes, quite regularly I watch 4 hour streams on youtube I think I can handle this lol. But amazing, I didn't know that (only expected something like that to happen with a story like this haha). Thanks for the info :)

I read somewhere that Kevin wanted to bring the horse back to the UK but it was very very expensive and loaded with red tape, so instead he found an animal sanctuary in Bulgaria to look after it. The 'guy on the right' is Prof. Brian Cox, former musician and now a professor of particle physics in the School of Physics and Astronomy.

Apparently he wanted to get the horse back to the U.K. but it was a bother, so they got it to a rescue in Bulgaria instead.

Hi guys. The guy on the same team as Lee Mack and Kevin Bridges is Prefessor Brian Cox who is a scientist and television presenter. I went to school with him. He was in a local band called Dare and later became the keyboard player in the band D-Ream which had a no 1 hit "Things Can Only Get Better"..

The Host is Rob Brydon, who is a well known comedian / actor, who actually appeared as a team member in the first series before moving on to the host job. About 5 or 6 times he has actually had the story to tell, and both teams have quizzed him, which are also hilarious and worth watching.

I imagine that the rental cost would be high to discourage theft. When the horse gets returned to the official stable, much of the cost would be reimbursed.

Back in the day, Bulgaria was a very poor country. I remember the first time I went (I'd gained a Bulgarian girlfriend at the time) back in the 1990s. The plane landed (in its "international" airport), with no other planes around, and people disembarked onto the ground (no airport bridge) and started wandering off. I wondered where we supposed to go (it wasn't obvious). I could see the other passengers generally heading towards what was essentially a long low green and rusting shed, with lots of doors. So I followed and just pushed on a random door. Behind the door was a guy sitting behind a wooden bench and another standing by the exit door. Both dressed in drab green in what seemed to be second-hand postman's uniforms. The guy behind the bench took my passport and carefully scanned and read all the pages - including all the blank pages. It got stamped and I was allowed to exit. I needed to find a bathroom and was directed to a room where I was greeted by a fly-blown hole in the ground. Well, we eventually got out of the airport and headed towards my (then) girlfriend's aunt's apartment block where the elevator had only a car headlamp bulb hanging out of the ceiling as illumination and only doors at each floor - not in the elevator itself. You could see the structure of the building passing in front of your eyes and it would be easy to get a hand trapped between elevator and building if you weren't careful. So a dodgy horse at $100 or thereabouts at the time does not seem too fanciful to me.. Of course, since Bulgaria has joined the EU a lot of this has changed - especially the airport which is like any other Western airport these days. A shame really - as it deprives me of more stories to tell!

One of the best panel shows on British television. Three names of guests to look out for, all brilliant storytellers, Kevin Bridges (as here), James Acaster, and Bob Mortimer. The guy you mentioned, on the right, is Professor Brian Cox , a particle physicist, who worked on the Large Hydron Collider, but used to be a keyboard plater in the band D-Ream. He's famous in the UK for science documentaries on television, amongst other things. As someone else has said, it went on indefinitely and had to be edited down so a lot is missing. Apparently his father later sorted out the horse issue.

AS a Bulgarian I can explain :). Only gypsies have horses in Bulgaria. Just imagine the film Snatch + Bulgaria. There are no stables.....they live in shacks and just nail a rope on the ground and there the horse lives. I can clearly see someone stealing a neighbor's horse, rent it and does not care to return it. LOL

Apparently this episode actually took around over 40 minutes to film so they had to edit heaps out to fit the programme. Don't forget Bulgaria is a relatively poor country or at least would have been when Kevin was 18 so the horse probably was cheap.

This is one of the best WILTY clips because this shows the genius of the show, they hear so many stories that even if they hear one that's as crazy as this there's always a doubt that as implausible as a story sounds there's always the chance it could be true. L As for the explanation being cut short I'd recommend watching a whole episode, each person on the panel has a story and there are other segments of the show too. So they have to keep each one kind of short.

In reality it's simple, some conmen hire a horse, go down the road find a gullible foreigner and hire that horse to them at an extortionate rate, unbeknown to them... It's a simple con because they pocket the excess money and the horse is still returned, they could probably run the con several times until they're discovered or the horse needs returning...

What actually happened is someone paid 90 pounds to take the horse on a 4 hour trek. They decided to get a refund by re-renting the horse to a couple of dumb tourists for the same amount. When the locals tried to explain to the tourist what happened much was lost in the translation.

A brilliant show derived from a simple concept. The "contestants" make the show. I used to go skiing to Bulgaria every year flights, accommodation, lift and ski passes were about a third of the cost you'd pay in the US, Canada and some European resorts. Cheaper than Aviemore in Scotland. The £90 rental fee is unbelievable purchase price more credible. Maybe it's a true story the guy with the horse, which may not have been his, wanted 200 lev (which is around £200) just wanted the money, got it then disappeared. I'm making this comment before finding out Truth or Lie.😁

Horse meat in Bulgaria is pretty popular to the point there are dedicated farms for meat production, obviously in this instance these guys saw an opportunity to get rid of a few horses that we're not deemed fit for consumption and a couple of foreigners thinking it was a rental ride got dupped into BUYING the horses lol.... That's the joke, maybe you didn't get that...
