Kings excellent attendance, even during bad seasons, shows that this town supports their teams. I firmly believe a MLB team would be fully embraced in Sacramento. I have several Giants fans in Sacramtno said that they would switch their allegiance if an MLB team landed in the Capitol.

Sacramento already has a stadium approved for a MLS franchise to go in the Railyards, which is a undeveloped 240 acre site. Although Sac was approved for a MLS expansion team, the lead investor backed out after COVID so they lost it. The EIR and many of the hurdles have been completed for a stadium, and a MLB ballpark would go nicely there. The city would love to have a stadium to activate development in the Railyards.

I believe that approval was expired a long time ago and was only done when the A's started looking years ago. CA generally does not give out tax dollars anymore. It would have to be a new approval process for any team that wants to move into Sacramento. I doubt it will ever happen.

Sacramento is already A’s fans. What people don’t talk about is that the A’s and the Giants represent baseball in all of Northern California. Having the team leave the state would be a massive hit to the entire sport in the region. The vegas move doesn’t add up because they’re pretending the media market in vegas is anywhere near as big as the media markrt in Northern California.

If the negotiation with Nevada failed, I hope Sacramento can snatch the A's from Oakland... I know there are fans in Oakland, but I think their future is better if they're moving to Sacramento instead of staying in Oakland... Even if Sacramento has Giants Triple-A team River Cats, there is one way to circumvent it, the owner of River Cats is also the owner of NBA team Kings Vivek, if Nevada negotiation failed and Fisher is too prideful to crawl back to Oakland, Fisher can sell the team to him instead... 🤔🤔🤔

Raley Field was built to be able to be expanded. Sacramento has a rich history. The Solons were the Brewers AAA affiliate and I shook hands with Hank Aaron at Hughes Stadium when I was 9 years old. Brodie is correct regarding Arco Park. A riverfront park can happen. Giants can get bought out and move the AAA team. Sac would get more Marysville, Reno fans and I'm confident they'd draw 20k a night. Regards Sacramento native
@ddddirge
@ddddirge Жыл бұрын
Raley Field can be expanded but I don't think they're gonna play long term there, but I think their parking lot is big enough to place another ballpark there... As for the Triple-A for the Giants that can be circumvented to let the owner of River Cats (which coincidentally also the owner of NBA team Kings) to buy the A's, and for that to happen Nevada must say no and reject the A's bill of moving there, then Fisher doesn't have a choice but to sell... After that A's must ready to let go their own Triple-A in Las Vegas, either by swapping it directly or using D-Backs (as their Triple-A team is in Reno) for collateral... 🤔🤔🤔

Move the A's to Sacramento...Give Las Vegas an expansion team. I'm originally from Sacramento. I now live in Las Vegas. I attended many A's games between '69 to '87. I now enjoy going to Aviators games here in Summerlin. I remember when they were building the foundation for Arco Park in next to Arco Arena. Different subject, but, I was at American River College gym when the Kings were introduced to the city...2000 people were there packed in. It was awesome. Can't speak for everyone here in Las Vegas, but, I know many would rather have an expansion team instead of the A's. Go Knights Go!

Something to consider - Vivek Ranadive, who owns the Kings and has the resources to lead a team to buy a MLB team, recently bought the River Cats and their stadium. I dont know what that means in terms of them possibilities of MLB in Sacramento, but thought I'd mention it. I think, Brodie, you're off a lttle on the honeymoon. Sacramento is a separate entity. The positive, of course, would be the A's already have an established fan base here.

Born and raised here in Sacramento. Two points. You said would the Oakland fans drive the 90 miles? Also Oakland is a central location for Vacaville and the surrounding areas. Sacramento is dead set in the middle of Northern California. If the A's were to come here you're 90 minutes from anywhere in NorCal. Bay area, Chico, Redding, Tahoe, Stockton, Modesto could all come here to watch the A's play baseball. Sacramento would be perfect for a baseball team, of course the 100 degree heat in July and August would suck but the Rivercats have been doing it since 2000 😅. To further that point of Oakland fans maybe not coming to Sacramento. Well if they had a choice of their team moving to Sacramento or Vegas, they would probably choose Sacramento. The one thing that could hurt Sacramento, we were all set for a MLS team coming here. We had the investors, land, stadium renderings, fans excited, and at the last second it fell apart. 😢 On the other hand if the A's had moved to Sacramento years ago with Fisher as the owner, we would have the exact same attendance Oakland has now. Fisher is the biggest hurdle for everything that is happening now in Oakland. Maybe Joe Lacob can step up since his Warriors aren't doing anything in the near future. 😂😂😂 Go Kings!

Austin/San Antonio area with 6 MM resident and expect to reach 7 MM by 2030 makes a lot of sense. Austin with the growing high tech corporate scene would certainly be attractive to MLB. It would take an Elon Musk to fund everything to get it done.

Another reason is it would open the door for the Giants to move to San Jose and Frisco has lots of issues with homelessness and affordable housing crisis so its not just all about stadiums other issues play into this and while it would create some distance between the A's and the Giants it would still be very disruptive to the area. Plus you would have to build new ballparks that represent the character of the area

I've lived in Sacramento since 91, I remember hearing about Lukenbill trying to bring the A's here in the late 80's, they also tried to lure the Giants here back in 92 when it looked like they were gonna move, the region had about a third of the population it does now too. We have alot of Bay Area transplants here now (part of the reason our housing costs have gone through the roof) and the A's already have a sizeable fanbase here so if they moved here here yeah it'd be awkward at first but they would do fine in the long term. All this of course assumes that the current regime of Fisher and Kaval is not in place because I doubt they would get much more support here then they currently do in Oakland. As for the expansion idea the issue there like others have mentioned is the black mark left behind by the MLS expansion failure, MLB would want a binding commitment of some sort from a deep pocketed ownership group and a good solid stadium plan to even consider putting a team here after the MLS fiasco. We certainly have the fan support here to make it work with an MLB Franchise I don't think there's any argument there, the real issue is who's gonna pay for it all, don't have to many Ron Burkles around.
@craigphillips3154
@craigphillips3154 Жыл бұрын
It's difficult to really be concerned about the "existing fanbase" with regard to a move to Sacramento when they're drawing 3000 fans per game. Keep in mind that moving the team doesn't mean new ownership. And with the Giants being 20 miles from the Coliseum, the answer is "No, the Oakland fans won't follow the A's to Sacremento." An expansion team is a $2-3B project. It's $1-1.5B for a new stadium and $1-1.5B for franchise rights and other expenses. That's going to be the case in pretty much any possible expansion city. And that new stadium is going to require about $1B in public money because there are more than a couple of cities that will be happy to provide it elsewhere.

MLB expansion if Sac got involved would likely be them over SLC for the AL West slot since Portland will be in the NL. Sacramento is just the bigger market population wise and their fans are as passionate as Utah fans. And then it’d be Austin (NL), Nashville (AL) in the Central. Orlando or Charlotte (AL) and the return of Le Expos (NL) in the East. And yes it’s 6 teams cuz a team in each division + the NFL wants to go to 36 with a potential European division

Thanks for making this Brodie, I was thinking this exact same question the past few weeks! The only 2 places I could ever see the A's have a great home are Oakland and Sac-town. I live way closer to Sacramento anyway. I feel like part of the reason that the A's have had a hard time the past 20 years staying in the Bay is the fact there there is just NOWHERE to build there! I think if there were more spots to build at in the Bay, then the A's would have had a new park years ago. Sacramento has so much more land to build on, and I'm sure it is cheaper as well. I also think that Orlando would not get an expansion team because it's too close to Tampa Bay; Rays could relocate to Orlando though. Portland I don't think would get a new MLB team anytime soon, they have too much of a problem with protesters and antifa, and no one wants to go to Portland right now unless things get cleaned up more, it's a nuthouse. I feel like Austin is too small of a city to get a team, and if Texas got another MLB team it should be San Antonio. No one ever seems to talk about San Antonio for some reason? Montreal could easily get one again I believe too. Same with Charlotte! Oh ya, and I think Salt Lake City has the best chance at getting the other expansion team personally, we need more 'west coast' teams!

@damonselman636
@damonselman636 Жыл бұрын
Sorry I am not Mr Brazil, but maybe I can answer your question. 1. The current AAA Sounds will most likely relocate (don't be shocked if the Nashville MLB team is called the Sounds) 2. There will eight new MILB teams after expansion. (more importantly when it comes part 3 and 4) 3. MILB identities and affiliations are lot more flexible than MILB franchises. For example a MILB team can be "promoted" from AA or A ball to AAA. The new AAA teams will be "promoted" AA or A ball team. I think one will be Fresno. 4. Where the current Sounds end up will be very dependent on who "Team 32" is and where the A's and Rays finally end up. For example I think the current Sounds might move to Fresno if Team 32 will be Sacramento but may move to San Antonio if Team 32 will be based in Austin.

No. MLB already has a "west coast" bias. NC would get a team before Sacramento does.

I notice you suggest Nashville is a done deal for expansion in various videos, yet you never give any real reasons why. I know Dave Stewart is part of the expansion group for Nashville and perhaps that adds some bias, but I am curious to hear your thoughts as to why it's a slam dunk vs. Portland, Austin/San Antonio, Charlotte, Vancouver, or Montreal?

Nashville has all that MLB is looking for: A rabid sports fan base, a deep-pocketed ownership group, and the financing and renderings of a new ballpark ready to be built once they are granted an expansion franchise.

It took them forever to get the Kings a good arena, doubt they can step up quickly enough to get a MLB park going(unless the River Cats park can be upgraded)...and MLB ALWAYS wants the government to subsidize/give tax credits, Sacramento/California won't do that...that is also part of the problem with staying in Oakland

FYI...the River Cats stadium was originally planned to be expandable. I believe by putting a second deck on it. But cost cutting measures during construction made this impossible. As is, the stadium would have to be torn down and rebuilt with an adequate foundation to support an expansion.

My feelings on this pretty much mirror what I thought when Sacto was floated as a possible destination for the Raiders. If the A's leave Oakland, and a team ended up in Sacto, I think the only way I'd be interested is if they went by "The California ----" Because, even though I'm an Oaklander, I'm also a Californian. P.S. I think it would be really smart for the Chargers to consider calling themselves The California Chargers. It has the potential to increase their fanbase dramatically overnight. Who knows? Maybe even play a preseason game in Oakland and SD? Although, SD may be a tough sell on that for obvious reasons.
