There has been many articles on this (see the New-York Times). But this is clearly the painting "Le Festin des dieux » (around 1635-1640)", of Jan Harmensz van Bijlert. I suggest you to read the article from the NYT but the number of figures aren't the same as the Cene, there is no food on the table, the disposition of the bodies aren't the same and the blue bacchus cannot be compared to jesus. From what I’ve heard, however, the whole thing was equal parts bravery and idiocy, and while I applaud their bravery in the face of those that hate and wish them harm, I (capitalized for grammar and emphasis), really don’t care. And don’t let ANYONE make you think it’s not okay to be a mostly indifferent well wisher. For instance: I’m in a LOT of pain from a number of past orthopedic surgeries that haven’t fully corrected my underlying issue(s) yet, and IF my story was told to those ostensibly brave individuals shown during the opening ceremonies, I assume that they might feel some pity or perhaps even irritation for wasting their time, but overall their lives would go on without much or any thought or concern about my plight, and that’s completely understandable. Life is difficult enough in one’s own mind and body, and from the state of the world it’s pretty darn clear that most everyone is having hard enough times overcoming their own problems, let alone the problems of others. And lastly, as anyone who’s lived long enough to know can tell you, there’s nothing more harmful to your wellbeing in ALL facets of life than “help” from someone with good intentions and a mess of a life. Good luck to all. Hopefully someone can post a hyperlink that actually shows the entire opening ceremony, because I erroneously assumed I’d be able to scroll through it at my leisure after it aired.
