@@CaptPeon Look up the word "ethnic cleansing" *Ethnic Cleansing* *_"1) The systemic elimination of an ethnic group or groups from a region or society, as by deportation, forced emigration or genocide."_* *_"2) The mass extermination or expulsion of people belonging to one ethnic or religious group by those of another,"_* The American Heritage Dictionary In 1948, there was 160,000 Arabs that stayed in Israel. Today there are over 2 million Arab citizens of Israel all with the same rights and benefits. Between 1947 and 1948, 600,000 to 700,000 Arabs fled their villages, most went to areas of the Mandate of Palestine that was not in the UN Partition Plan to be under Jewish control, such as Gaza, and the "West Bank". These people were still within the Mandate borders. There are over 5 million of these people in those lands today, and another 7 million people with Palestinian ancestry in other lands. The people who fled were not forced out by the Jews, most fled on their own. Over 300,000 fled before 1948. In fact, the early Jewish leaders appealed to the Arabs to stay in their houses and help them create a country together, they had 5 other Arab armies attack the one day old country of Israel. The Institute for Palestine Studies, an Arab organization based in Beirut stated, *68% of Arabs left their villages without ever seeing a Jewish man with a gun or a soldier* Search, *_"How we really became refugees, 13 Palestinians tell their personal stories"_* Mamoud Abbas and 12 others from all over Israel, tell the truth about why and how they left the villages and houses and it wasn't because of the Jews. In Ethnic Cleansing your population is supposed to go down, like the millions of American Native peoples forced from their original land, and the Europeans introduced small pox to the population to kill them, the 1 million Armenians Christians forced from Ottoman Empire lands, murdered in marches and left to die, the 800,000 Tutsi murdered in Rwanda, these are examples of ethnic cleansing. People who left on their own, and whose population only increased are not victims of ethnic cleansing!!

Good information in the video, but unfortunately, it is very slanted. More of a propaganda piece than documentary. It doesn't elaborate on the ongoing Muslim violence against Jews during the British control and occupation of the territory. The viewer is incorrectly given the impression that the Zionists and British government jointly began discriminating against Muslims and using physical force to take land away. The UN established Israel as an independent nation in 1947, not the Zionists. Muslims continued to live in the territory after 1947 as Israeli citizens, and have the same rights as Jewish citizens. So it isn't apartheid. Any land that was "stolen" occurred when Israel and Jews were responding to Muslim attacks. While some appropriation during these various time-frames was unjust and illegal, some can be justified as an act of self-defense. Palestinians govern the impoverished territories mentioned in the video, and Israeli attacks on the areas was done for self-defense reasons.

- To answer your first question. I would call it 1923 Turkey-Greece or 1947, Pakistan-India. It isn't unique by any means. Ethnic cleansing has a sense of systemic killing. Populations were transferred, there were riots, clashes, and acts of violence. People died and others were held in camps. - Ben Gurion never referred to it as transfer of indigenous people but rather the transfer of Arabs -- again this was no different from the theorists behind 1923 Turkey and 1947 India: Mustafa Kemal, Mohammad Ali Jinnah. What does indigenous even mean? The Jews held this area far before Islam was even a thing. - Deprived of their homes, their land, and their livelihoods and in some cases their lives. Again, I'll point you to 1923 and 1947. In the case of 1947, it is considered Islamophobic for to even suggest that non-Muslims should be allowed back into Pakistan and the idea of Pakistan is unethical, unjust, etc. - The desert bloom: In all the Empires that occupied this area, not one made Jerusalem their capital. Much of what is Israel today was uncultivated and a barren desert. Israel developed desalination of water at an industrial scale. They were able to grow the Eden Gold, a pear that can withstand harsh desert climates. - On one hand you set up the story of settler colonialism -- that the Jews came from Europe and settled in the area. And on the other you suggest that Christians, Jews, and Muslims always lived in harmony in the area. The truth is, while people of these three religions did live in this area, they did not live in peace. Look at Hebron in 1929. - Again you're adding words to what Gurion and Herzel said. Herzel's words were: "We shall try to spirit the penniless population across the border by procuring employment for it in the transit countries, while denying it any employment in our own country." Again, not the "native" population. It is almost like you're trying to draw a parallel between the Trail of Tears, like the Jews wanted to drag the Arabs out. Rather, the Arabs were nomadic and moved in and out based on employment. By giving them employment outside of Israel, you are able to create clear and peaceful areas for both peoples. - Did the British support Zionism for their own benefit? Yes. But did the British help accelerate Jewish population in the area? Absolutely not! The British mandated that no more than 15K Jews could enter the area every year and that was in 1939 during the Holocaust. The White Paper, what this policy became known as, also limited the rights of Jews to buy land from the Arabs. - Turkish Christians in Greece do not refer to themselves as Turks in exile, neither do the Muslim Greeks in Turkey. Same could be said about the people impacted by the Partition in India. So why do those impacted by the transfer of populations in this region refer to themselves as Palestinians in exile? Why does a group of people, if it is true that they coexisted with Jews in the past, refuse to coexist with them today? Why should a group of people, who can trace their past to a region and who have suffered a holocaust, not be able to keep the nation that they have?

I have a different opinion about this. I am old enough that I was of an age of reason when Palestine was partitioned. late 1947. I was eight years old. I know that before that event, Jews were vastly outnumbered in Palestine by "Palestinians" and that there were serious ethnic tensions between the two groups, and that the governing authority was the British. I know that the British wanted to leave, to rid themselves of the job of policing that conflict. I know that the UN declared the partition, and that the UN tried to give Palestinians most of the land where they were a majority, which was most of the populated land. They also gave the Jews, for their state, the bit of land where they were most numerous. A lot of Palestine was desert, where almost nobody lived. That shouldn't have mattered that much, but the UN gave most of that desert to the Jewish state. I also know that immediately after the partition, the Jews in the new Jewish state declared that they accepted the partition. The Arabs in the new "Palestinian" state did not. They were clearly dissatisfied. And they were supported in this dissatisfaction by all the surrounding countries, which had governments, armies, etc. Here is what shocks me. The Palestinians had to know that just weeks before, the British colony that is now India and Pakistan had obtained independence from Britain without violence. The successful model of how to achieve independence without violence was used my Mohandas (Mahatma) Ghandi. It clearly worked. So just a few weeks later, why did the Palestinians use violence rather than Ghandi's model? I pose that as a question, but there is a probable answer. With their greater numbers and their support by powerful neighboring Muslim countries, they may have thought that violence would solve their dissatisfaction quickly. The subsequent seventy five years have shown that, whatever else any one can say, the military response was not able to solve their satisfaction quickly - it has lasted longer than almost any other conflict, and the Palestinians' situation (and dissatisfaction) have gotten progressively worse. I think that every instance of Palestinian violence against Israel has made things worse for them. Meanwhile, the Jews in Palestine, now Israel, have gone from poor and powerless to prosperous and powerful. Is it too late for Palestinians to change their strategy?
@Thursrain85 Жыл бұрын
For someone of age back then, you should have already known Palestinians are an indigenous arab group, compromising of Christians, Jews and Muslims. Although muslim Palestinians outnumbered both jewish and Christian Palestinians, that said, before Zionists took over, all 3 religions lived side by side for centuries as Palestinians. It was the goal of the Zionist movement to bring Ashkenazi white western jews into Palestine to make it a predominately white jewish majority and create a new state, Israel. For your other point, colonialism has always been brutal as history tells us, The 1948 Nakba. Throughout the decades Palestinians have tried to get their land back via wars as well as peaceful methods, neither have worked so far given western imperial bolstering to keep the idea of Israel going purely for western interest that have little to do with religion or care for either religions.

And it was the British and French imperialists that supplied the armaments to the surrounding Arab armies. Likewise back in the day progressive arabs saw the intervention by the surrounding Arab countries as an invasion as the last thing those countries wanted was an independent Palestinian state right on their borders! The Sanjaks were ruled by the Ayelet (region) of Damascus, Syria.

@@rimworld64 The British did not occupy Palestine, as there was no Palestine to occupy. The land was former Ottoman land, not ever Palestinian lands. The Ottomans signed their lands over to the Allies after WW1. The Allies turned the responsibility of the lands over to the League of Nations in order to create new countries. The British were made the administrators over the Mandate of Palestine. The British illegally gave 77% of the land of the Mandate to the Arab Hashemites to become trans-Jordan, leaving only 23% to become the future Jewish state. The Entire League of Nations voted unanimously for; *_"Whereas recognition has thereby been given to the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and to the grounds for reconstituting their national home in that country"_*

We should now just call Gaza what it has become...the Gaza Ghetto.

People of Palestine, I am a descendant of the European Caucasian people. My people are a great people but very susceptible to Jewish propaganda. I, unlike the majority, do not accept nor believe the Zionist propaganda. However, as I stated, my people have fallen to sleep under the constant barrage of Zionist fairytales. I saw your story during the conflict that started 2 days ago in this October. I believe you! I'm not alone but the Zionist's threat of being labeled "antisemitic" they buckle and crawl on their bellies. At my advanced age all I can offer you is belief in you and wishing you success in your struggle to one day oust the jew criminals and reclaim what is rightfully yours. May God that you believe in bless you and yours and give victory to the Palestinian people. God Bless You All.

The weight of the infamy committed by Israel is historical, but this does not mean that Israelis cannot settle accounts with the past by recognizing the evil they committed. The crimes committed by Zionists can be forgiven if Zionism dissolves itself and Israeli soldiers stop committing crimes and repair the damage they have done. A future of peace is possible, but not with Netanyahu and other maniacs like him commanding systematic brutality dehumanizing Palestinians. South Africa's apartheid seemed strong and irrevocable, but it contained the seeds of its own destruction. The defeat of the apartheid created by the Zionists in Israel will occur tomorrow or the day after. The Israelis can shorten the existence of this monstrosity. They can, but for now they don't want to. Unfortunately.
