I stand with the person that said "It's hard to pay for consent" that's the biggest reason I wouldn't pay for sex. It would make me feel so bad and awkward and disgusting paying somebody to do something that deep down they don't want to do. It's a job and people don't always want to work but they need the money. Since that situation is a possibility, I would never pay for sex. Now online shit, where nobody loses, that's different

Oh, people definitely have things to lose when it comes to online sex work. Sometimes they’re coerced into doing the scenes, or they’re naive and young so they don’t know what they’re getting into. People can get rlly traumatised from doing porn, so I guess the only way it’s fine is if you pay towards someone’s onlyfans.

I was the person that said "it's hard to pay for consent". To expand upon my thoughts, I think it's well within the realm of possibility that someone could sell sex and consent. I don't believe there is any shame in being a sex worker, and if you enjoy it more power to you! I think that it differs from a regular job however, in that I believe that having sex that isn't inherently for ourselves can be damaging to our self-worth (key word being can). I have had sex for reasons other than sex itself (example: preserving a relationship), and it really shook me when I realized how much I truly compromised for someone else, that I in turn would never ask from them. It was simply damaging in a way that words can't describe for me, hence why I believe that enthusiastic consent needs to be the standard, and that money can't guarantee that. I think our sexuality should be something to celebrate, but I feel often times that prostitution and pornography takes advantage of that.

@oligotide7257

@sola4437 I'm not trying to force it but rather have us reflect upon it. I don't really like the idea of restricting things; if someone wants to do porn or prostitution for their pursuit of happiness I don't entirely think they should be restricted from that. But there are too many former pornstars and prostitutes that have told their stories on how sex work has harmed them, and I think we should be reflecting upon what legalization means for the common good. To that I don't really have an answer.

i feel like its weird to bring celebrities who have insane amounts of money & power & security into this conversation. they do not have any pressure to participate, when most sex workers depend on the money or are human trafficked. yes, that hypothetical example sounds acceptable, but its so far from the power dynamics in reality that it cannot inform an attitude towards actually "buying sex" irl because that always includes accepting the risk that youre actually raping someone (which i think is never okay).

@@FF-cn3lf Hard to believe that we still live in a reality where this is considered acceptable. Human sex trafficking is so large because there simply is not enough willing supply. The sex (rape) industry is built on the exploitation of people, primarily women. Pregnancy, STDs, physical and sexual violence, and the PTSD rate amoung prostitutes is high and most wish to leave the industry. I could care less if stopping some western white girl from selling pictures of her cooter for degenerates will prevent some single mother being pushed into being raped daily just to feed her kids. There are plenty of safer, actual jobs for all women to partake in. Sickening that these are the modern women who are leading the feminist movement into becoming an advocate for pimps. Braindead... 🙄

Wow, empathy is dead. It's heart breaking to see how normalized it is to see women as a service. You can't buy consent. You are using your money to exploit and dehumanize a person who is more than likely there because they are in a financial struggle. Same goes for pornography. And the end of the video proves that it's precisely a matter of survival in our broken economy. But i guess it is easier to not "care what other people do" like this one girl said, sure
@kellygreengables3936
@kellygreengables3936 Жыл бұрын
So my question is, if people do want to pay for sex should they not pay sex workers? Isn't sex work transactional? Also, I think that girl was trying to say that she doesn't want to negatively judge people who pay for sex and/or do sex work as a job. Not that it doesn't matter if people are struggling and therefore need to do sex work to survive.
@FF-cn3lf
@FF-cn3lf Жыл бұрын
And my answer is this: sex is not a necessity. You can't survive without food or water, but you can survive without sex. So, the people who pay for sex do it not because they NEED to but because they WANT to. And they dont do it because of the goodness of their heart. If you truly want to help someone you wouldn't give them money on the condition they have sex with you. This is not consent. These people willfully take advantage of someone less fortunate than them. And the girl's comment is just the definition of willful ignorance: if i close my eyes, i'll stop seeing how wrong society is.

Personally I wouldn’t - I think it would hurt my ego a little. Not to sound judgmental and I am far from religious, but I think it devalues and disrespects a human connection, one of the simplest yet deeper meanings and enjoyment. It belittles and demeans it to greed and categorises it along with other commodities in this world like objects - it makes me question what is the price of humanity, what will be left? We already live in such a sexualised world and it’s already making us more and more shallow and inhumane . I believe sex is something that shouldn’t be commodified, not only is it stripping of a part of human identity there is a blurry line of consent. If money equates to consent is that really consent, like how you would serve a customer for money but would you serve them because you enjoyed it or because you had to put food on your plate and pay your rent? It is only beneficial to a small amount - most of the sex industry is blood money and not ethical in the slightest, but for the privileged 5 or 10% that find it liberating ( in the west especially ) I’m sure it’s great. So in short individually and as a choice I wouldn’t care or judge, as a whole the answer would be a strong no.

@@LarryWaterDating is completely different, for starters because dating isn't just about sex, if you see dating as a means to an end (sex) that's a you problem. Dating is something that you do with someone that likes you back, there's also a back and forth between both parties, they're both supposed to give each other company, love, compassion, and sometimes even money (by giving gifts to each other or the like). On top of that it's not like you have an obligation to pay for anything, there's plenty of couples who split bills or whatever. If you don't want to pay for a date, you can literally just not do it, no one is forcing you, so to say that dating is comparable with buying sex is completely stupid. When you pay for sex, you're just coercing someone who doesn't like you nor know you, to have sex with you, you're exploiting poverty, you're financing sex trafficking, because although sex workers who genuinely choose what they do exist, a pimp isn't going to tell you who is who "Jennifer is a sex trafficked 15 year old, but Samantha is an adult and actually wants to be here" it's a conversation that it's never going to happen. With dating sex is supposed to be consensual, you don't have an obligation to give money to your date, the fact that you think you do just seems like you're unable to not see sex as a transaction.

And I’m not into men. Not even nonsexual fetish type work where you don’t need to touch the person. Don’t want some dude going and getting say sexual satisfaction based off of a foot photo or something for pay either. And I wouldn’t pay anyone else, because like one woman said,”I’m my own best friend.” If I wanted sex with another person, there’s gonna be a relationship.

Why not? Idk whether I would or not but if a person wants to have sex (they aren't pressured, they don't feel they have no other choice etc...) for money. And the other is willing to pay for it and not treat them badly I don't see how it's a problem or anyone else's business. All interactions in life are already transactions the only difference is this is actual cash. For me personally I prefer an emotional connection but if others can/are willing/enjoy it then do you and them 😉

Sex work means they only do the work if they get paid for it. Meaning they don’t really want to but are forced to somehow because of the need or manipulation of money. There is nothing respectable about erasing someone’s bodily autonomy with your financial dominance.

the situation youve described is not the case for 99% of sex workers. when going to a sex worker you cant really ensure that they are doing it because they truly want to, so essentially youd always have to accept the high risk of actually raping that person. thats why i think id prefer if we didnt try to normalize it, because most of the time its actually really horrible and the few people who feel "empowered" doing it dont make up for all the suffering imo
@Anne-zt2dz
@Anne-zt2dz Жыл бұрын
@@lunabibiane Exactly. Prostitution is rape and also porn is proven to make consumers more and more sexually violent and disrespectful women (ask Ted Bundy). Ethical porn does not exist, because it profits of the deeply patriarchal and ultimately pedophilic and human trafficking systems that want to keep women vulnerable in society to exploit them. Stop normalizing this!
@sarahwilliams4092
@sarahwilliams4092 Жыл бұрын
The reason people are able to get away with treating them horribly is because it's illegal and kept in the shadows. But that is an entirely different discussion that I'm not getting into here. Suffice to say whether it be sex work, or cursing or drugs hiding it away and not "normalizing it" doesn't make it actually go away it keeps bad people able to exploit people. Humans are being sold in this country more than any other. shutting your eyes doesn't make it go away. That being said what a person CHOOSES to do with their body isn't yours or anyone else's business as long as they aren't hurting anyone. I wonder where you're getting your statistics on sex work and or if you're even familiar with it before you judge it. When you say "they" don't want to. Who exactly are you referring to? Friends of yours? People you know? Or a biased "morality" based news story? Also this particular video isn't even talking about sex work as a whole its just saying would you pay for it. How is a friend saying hey I'll buy you a pizza and beer if you do me a favor because it's been a while any different than hey i'll give you 50 bucks if you do me a favor.....

So long as everyone consents. Sex work is work, trafficking is NOT sex work, for some it's casual pleasure, for some it's therapeutic. Regardless, live your life, drink water, mind your business, and talk to a good sex positive therapist if you want to know more.

Honestly I would. There are certain sexual liberation acts that would honestly open your mind to things. I think if you’re scared of the judgement then do it with a sex worker bcz let’s be real they’ve done it too many times to care, but you haven’t. So if you find yourself being interested in something but can’t find someone compatible to do it with you, just find someone who offers this service. (But I wouldn’t pay regularly I just mean as a one time thing to further explore yourself as a person and what you like)
@melodyh2881

Oftentimes when people can’t find someone who will cater to their interests, it may be extreme or out of the norm. It’s very common for sex traffickers to abuse women and force them into these services for more money from niche acts. Sometimes people offering this service is the result of being coerced or having no options. Many survivors have spoken about how these scenarios have led to r*pe, sexual assault, or consenting to something they don’t want to do. Sometimes “exploring yourself” is just putting someone else at stake and people need to understand that more if they try to pay for consent.

@@melodyh2881 "Oftentimes when people can’t find someone who will cater to their interests, it may be extreme or out of the norm." Sometimes yes, this is the case, especially in countries where these extremes are heavily stigmatized... But it could also just be a general symptom of a society, where we've started letting companies run our social lives and dating lives alike, and as such can find absolutely no one to do anything with at all? The average age of when people have sex for the first time is going up drastically over the past 10 years, but the stigma surrounding never having had sex is still very much there - especially for men (who, let's be honest, are more often the ones to pay for sex than women). I know a few people that visited sex workers for their first times, who had an entirely different outlook on life afterwards. They gained so much more confidence in themselves after having experienced it. Granted, this is in a country where sex work is legal and actually a well paid job, often earning similar salaries as middle management positions, so here they don't just "scrape by".

Sometimes you just wanna fvck lol. Either way as a man, you paying for it anyway... wether its through dates or directly, its still costing you money, the ladder just doesnt cost you as much time ;)
