$60 is being generous. Females get exploited and exposed everyday. She was probably asking for 600,000 and the judge saw her lawyer's documents like "nah Bruh".

TheEreder To be honest, I agree and was thinking the same thing. The picture is so crappy and you can't even see her face. Not to mention, what are the chances of the old lady even following her on Snapchat. Butttttt, the internet decided they needed to be outraged by something that day. All they really did was embarrass an old lady and she didn't even get paid. She got $60 for all of that embarrassment.

60$ in restitution is the biggest slap in the face of a victim I have ever seen. 60 bucks, ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? Why even bother, talk about adding insult to injury.
@DJohnGrady
@DJohnGrady 7 жыл бұрын
Restitution for what, though? Just because she was victimized, doesn't mean that the money being paid is for victimization. It's perfectly possible the victim didn't want monetary restitution, and the $60 is for something else - for example, the gym membership dues she didn't get to use, because after the incident she couldn't go to the gym. Or the court filing costs.

What the hell does social media presence and self esteem/dignity have to do with the other??? Are you insinuating that stuff that happens on social media only happens in the realm of social media? That if they aren't actively looking for subscribers or likes or whatever, that it doesn't matter that their privacy has been demolished and there are naked pictures of them on the internet? Because they are old...they don't know how to use technology...and they won't see them?

zh11147 ok. The thing is...I'm not a young chicken (or cat). I probably am not going to be watching some playboy girls snapchat or whatever. My sons, nieces, nephews, friends, etc MAY be following. The world is a small place. You never know who is going to see it! It is a BIG DEAL! It is not OK! It wasn't innocent fun gone wrong. It was an invasion of privacy & a sex crime. You can not take naked pics of strangers! Let alone share those naked pics! It's a big deal.

I suppose it would have a less of an effect on an elderly person than a younger one but she still has to live with the fact that tons of people have seen her naked. More than most leaked photos as well because the story's gotten so much attention since Dani Mathers is a celebrity. If you take that into consideration, the lady probably has it worse than most people. The anxiety and self hate she must be feeling right now has got to me more than most victims like her. Personally, I think $60 is outrageous and even more painful to the poor lady.

Dani Mathers should have served jail time for what she did. Just because she has an 'ideal' body doesn't give her the right to mock others nor invade their privacy and publicly shame anyone no matter their status or body type. Someone who goes to the gym is there to better themselves and their quality of life, not to be documented as something to be ashamed of.

Just because there are bigger issues at hand, doesn't mean everyone gets a free pass. Your way of thinking would condone one murder because 'thousands are being murdered somewhere else, get over it'. It pisses me off when people think this way because that's OBVIOUSLY not how the justice system works. But thank you for your input.

Jail is for violent criminals that need to be kept away from the public for our safety. This thought that everyone who does anything illegal should end up in jail is very sad. People who do something illegal, but aren't a violent risk to society, should be given extensive community service to give back and bring good from their crimes... they don't need to be sat in a prison for tax payers to take care of. Our prisons are already over crowded... we need to stop throwing everyone in jail and instead have them give back to the community.

+Cam Dollar but that doesn't mean she can't go to prison for a certain amount of time. Prison is 1 of the best ways for people to learn so prison may be overcrowded but I doubt staying there for a little time would make it overcrowded for a long period of time.

Honestly i'm not mad at Dani for doing it without her knowing, i'm mad she did that at all. Showing everyone a naked old lady walking around a locker room, no one wanted to see that. Like seriously why do old people just not give a shit about being naked? Is it pay back for not being young anymore? Once when i was twelve at Lagoon in the swimming section there was a locker, and this massive old man was just sitting on a bench completely naked, kids everywhere and this guy doesn't give a shit. I say everyone when not in a closed off space of a locker room should be forced to wear either a towel or swimming shorts. Anything is better than having the elderly roam around naked.

@QPoily
@QPoily 7 жыл бұрын
You're completely ignoring the other punishments she received. In addition to the 60$ (which isn't the real punishment) she got: - 3 years probation = can't break any law or she'll still receive the punishments before the plea deal - 30 days community service, forced to do one per week = 30 weeks of 1 day a week probation if deciding to spread it out. - Can't possess a phone in locations where people expect privacy such as locker rooms and stuff. The phone ban combined with the probation means she won't be carrying around her phone in certain locations for THREE years. And the 30 days community service means she has to at least spend a day a week for 30 weeks not doing whatever she did before. People are judging her way too harshly IMHO. Stupid outrage culture. People are losing perspective because of it.

"I wonder if you would be saying the same thing if the picture was of your sister or mother." see, this right here is outrage culture that he is speaking out against. Honestly if someone robbed from me, i would want to shoot them twice in the face. Luckily i don't decide punishment for crimes, people who actually know what they are doing do. Stop being overly empathetic, the law doesn't fold around your feelings. And Droosk, you realize that if she takes her phone in a locker room she will get her full sentence, that's how probation works. Clearly people don't understand the law, they just tailor every case to how they would feel. Well guess what, how you feel is mentally challenged so stop it, stop it right now.

60 Second Success I think she should have gotten jail time. Not years and years or something, but none is ridiculous. Six months would get chopped down to probably two or less and I'd have been fine with that on top of what she got. But with no jail time and the rate at which she has to do the service, it's like a bad grounding. You're in trouble so no phone and clean the house once a month. It's stupid.
@Fitzavig
@Fitzavig 7 жыл бұрын
I agree that a good amount of community service (non-negotiable) would be sufficient. Make her reflect after a few months of hard work and maybe, just maybe, she'll learn her lesson. Hard time will probably make her worse, and probation is a joke for people like her. I also think it would be rather difficult to discern a proper fine for this too, and it wouldn't deter her in the future without being extremely overboard.

She would still get to mentally prepare for it and know what's coming instead of thinking she's safe and suddenly going viral. I really feel for the older woman, just imagine going about your daily business as you do everyday and next thing you've become viral (and in such a horrifying way) for a negative reason. It must have been so mortifying for her. At the very least Mathers shouldn't be allowed a device with a camera (and good luck finding one of those these days), at worst she should be serving time.

She already is being punished had you bothered to actually look into the trial. She got 3 years probation, ban on possessing a camera/phone in situations where people expect privacy (as well as having to have permission of the person she took a photo of to post online), 30 days community service and the people she's worked with have also punished her from taking away her modelling jobs and what not. Plus the online backlash I'd say that's punishment enough.

QPoily well excuse me but I did look into it. To me it didn't seem like a punishment.
@QPoily
@QPoily 7 жыл бұрын
In what way does it not seem like a punishment? - 3 years probation = can't break any law/sentence she got or else her original sentence is put into effect - Banned from POSSESSING a phone/camera in locations where people expect privacy. (If she breaks this, she gets her full sentence due to probation). Also has to ask permission of anyone she made a photo of if she wants to put it online. - 30 days community service, 1 day a week at least = 30 weeks until that's done. - She's lost modelling jobs and sponsors - The internet backlashed hard against her and hates her. People have already made an example out of her. How is this not punishment? What more do you want from someone who took a fucking photo? Obviously you didn't look into this because otherwise you'd have known the older woman probably approves of the sentences she got. Gain some perspective and pretend that you got those sentences.

Gregg Stone They *did* hire him though. Seth rich's family was contacted by Ed Butowsky, a conservative businessman and Fox News/Breitbart contributor, who urged them to hire a private investigator to look into their sons death, offering to personally cover the expenses himself. The Rich family took him up on his offer and hired the PI that Butowsky recommended for the job: Rod Wheeler. And as far as the idea that wheeler was actually doing this for free, I haven't heard or seen that anywhere, this video is the only place I've seen that, so maybe take it with a gain of salt. Idk, seems like Butowsky (and based on what I've read about him, Wheeler, too) had an agenda and already had a theory in mind when it came to the Seth rich case. Instead of looking for answers and the truth, they seem more concerned with finding specific answers that support their hypothesis. www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/dnc-staffer-s-murder-draws-fresh-conspiracy-theories-n760186

That IS takeover story has taken a pretty big turn. And by "big turn" I mean President Rodrigo Duterte fucking killed everybody. Dude ran the military through the occupied region, executed everything that resisted, shut down a known terror cell, killed a known IS link and everyone in his building, and put the part of town known for islamic separatist movements under martial law. Actually, as I'm writing this, all of Midanao is now under martial law, not just one part. Quote from the president: "If I think that you should die, you will die. If you fight us, you will die. If there is open defiance, you will die. And if it means many people dying, so be it." This dude is not fucking around, and many people are about as afraid of him as they are of ISIS and the ISIS affiliate groups springing up in their area.

Re: Dani Mathers, Sure, she undoubtedly has been through more public shaming and pre-trial punishment because of her fame. But that's also what made her crime so much worse than it would have been for a regular Joe. I just believe that she needed to spend some amount of time behind bars, any time, even a couple of weeks would have sent a nice little message. The $60 restitution is laughable, but the one thing that this case does is set her up nicely for a civil suit. That's where she will really pay.

In my opinion, Dani Mathers should have been sentenced to a higher degree than what she was, the public outcry and the justice side of things should be seen as two different entities. The public outcry should not in any way affect the outcome of the legal side of things and should be seen as nothing more than karma, and the sentence they receive should be seen as punishment. They're giving those with x-amounts of twitter followers or the like more lee-way when it comes to the sentences they receive and that's not how the justice system should be run and presented. Just because these people are celebrities (though I've never heard of her before this) and therefore have a bigger platform in which to be sent mean comments and have nasty things written about them shouldn't mean they're sentences should be lessened to such a degree (or any degree) that it then becomes what I see as an insult to the victim. Dani Mathers will be able to continue to be a model, if not with an official company, then an Instagram model while the lady she so rudely disrespected will forever have a nude picture of herself on the internet. This'll be forgotten soon by the people on the internet and Dani Mathers will be able to move on with no real repercussions other than a small bump in the road while the lady she defiled will forever have the worry of someone looking at the photo, or god forbid sharing it with their sick and perverse friends as a 'laugh'. P.s. That goddamn $60 compensation is so infuriating, it's like the judge is saying that lady is only worth $60, self-worth and all. Honestly, I've known smackhead prostitutes who've been ploughed several times into the next century within a single hour get paid more than that. I'd fucking love to give that judge a bitchslap. Omg.

Phil, there are some other details that need to be talked about when it comes to Seth: 1. Wikileaks offered $20,000 reward for information leading to Seth’s death. This was before the interview where Assange suggested Seth might be the leaker. The reward was what caught people's attention, not the interview. twitter.com/wikileaks/status/763041804652539904 2. The Washington Post article, while being sincere to the feelings of the family, had to come from the same organization that hired Podesta? And it's an organization that constantly throws out lies, fake news, and “leaks” of classified data. Why WaPo of all the media outlets? This is the same organization that caused a panic when they falsely reported that Russia hacked the Vermont power grid. This is also the same organization that did fundraising for the DNC. A media organization doing active fundraising for a political party is just shady. 3. The family's PR guy, Brad Bauman, wasn't hired by the family, he was assigned to them by the DNC. Also, Brad’s family foundation has David Brock on their board of directors… the same David Brock who owns/operates Media Matters (and you've already pointed out that MM is attacking Hannity, like they have multiple times in the past when it comes to conservative journalists). David Brock also ran Hillary’s PACs, and MM is a propaganda organization for the Democrats, just like ShareBlue is and Correct the Record was. There's huge conflicts of interest and shadiness when it comes to how all these individuals are linked to each other… Podesta/Bauman/Brock. www.baumanfoundation.org/about-us/foundation 4. Kimdotcom publicly stated in May 2015 that there were leaks coming long before anyone heard about Seth or the DNC/Podesta emails. Perhaps because he was involved or knew someone who was involved? www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-05-14/kim-dotcom-julian-assange-will-be-hillary-clinton-s-worst-nightmare-in-2016 So why are the Democrats so adamant that Seth's murder stay off the radar? The moment the PI hit the airwaves, the MSM scurried to drum up some news about Trump based on “anonymous sources” and that drowned any story about Seth. Hannity is being targeted because he's the only media that's willing to talk about it, and that scares the Democrats. It's because if the authorities can prove that Seth is the leaker, the entire Russian narrative that the Democrats have been screaming about comes crashing down. Including the possibility that his death is attributed to his actions as the leaker. Remember, the DNC never allowed the FBI to touch their compromised server. All “evidence” presented was done by CrowdStrike, a private firm hired by the DNC. I call into question that evidence when our own law enforcement is not allowed to do their own forensics.

Dani Mathers should serve a bigger penalty than what she was given. She invaded a woman's privacy, and made it public, which then became public. it doe not feel appropriate. just because shes already suffered a lot over the last year does not do any justice. She made a decision that should face a bigger penalty. it broke the law. rather harshly, in my own opinion.

My heart goes out to the family. My brother was murdered. The murder was never caught. I know that they just need peace and time to heal and they hope that they just get answers. But instead get asshole(reports) calling and harassing them. About that other people are saying. I just don't know how they do it. I seen one of my brothers old friends recently. He had moved and didn't know. When he asked about him even though it's been years. It felt like it was just yesterday. I almost cried. For them it is still recent. Everyone needs to leave this family alone. The first year is the hardest.

She definitely should have been punished more. If public humiliation and repercussions was federally controlled, then maybe it would work out, but as it stands, social backfire after people find out what you've done is completely unregulated and has nothing to do with government proceedings. It doesn't matter if millions of people find out you committed a crime or not; either way, you should suffer the same consequences as dictated by the law upon being prosecuted.

Dani Mathers should have gotten jail time. The fact she has had to "suffer" for a year because of this has everything to do with her being any level of famous. the cost you pay for the sustained fame is ANYTHING you do good or bad gets scrutinized, criticized, and judged, don't like it don't be famous.

Ward Nightstone I mean the only reason why this went to court is because of her fame and large following. If this was an average joe with 10 friends on snapchat,instead of a couple k of strangers, no one would have even known about the invasion of privacy and certainly not anyone that would have cared enough to report it.
