The inspiration I needed to carve some stamps for the grandsons this Christmas. You can imagine how thrilled they were to receive a stamp that fit their hands, was kid friendly and had their name on it!! Thanks for all you do and share with all of us!

Thank you! I learned to carve stamps in 8th grade using Speedball tools and linoleum blocks. Recently I bought the same supplies but found my hands had "matured" over the last 50+ years, making linoleum or any hard rubber out of the question. Thanks for such a simple - and clearly explained - alternative!

I have to say I am impressed with your back catalog of carvings. I can't draw worth crapola so carving really "BLAM" blows my mind. You really got yourself a great variety of "in fashion" stamps for pennies and it seems like your carvings have enough detail to make them work in place of manufactured stamps. You neglected to mention the feeling of carving an eraser...it is the most addicting feeling to feel the gouger slide along the material.

Great tutorial! I will definitely try it. I did some wood block carving and printing a long time ago, and I remember how nice it looked - it was a carving of the brownstones on my street and I printed a bunch in a row with different color paints. Had no idea what I was doing but someone wanted to buy the block from me! :) As always, thanks for your video!!

I haven't done this in years. I was dying for some stamps from Magenta at one time and I decided to carve my own. I went to the library and checked out some clip art books and made some copies. Then you go over them with pencil and rub the image onto the stamp material. As it turned out some of their most famous stamps were from clip art. I did some very detailed pieces. With time and patience and practice you really can make some awesome stamps.

Yay, the video I've been waiting for! I love your frugal ideas for crafting the best. Your painting instruction is also a fav. I am loving that I can get some supplies for this at Dollar Tree to boot. One question for you though. Do you know if it is possible, and how to, print an image (not inkjet) and transfer to the rubber for cutting pretty shapes I find? I also love to create shapes and such in Photoshop and it would be great if I could make stamps out of them. Kudos for always giving such clear and easy instructions, for taking the time to continue near daily content despite a family, business, etc., and your love of creativity! You and Kathryn, and Cori are my favorite youtubers! Definitely wanting more diy supplies videos and your wonderful hauls too. =) Well worth the wait....thank you Lindsay!

The exact title of the RVDebs video is "Thursday, two surprises in the mail today" I am sorry that I don't know how to add the video here. I hope you will check it out so you can see some of the possibilities of learning stamp carving. I make stamps for pottery, paving stones, tiles, wrapping paper, so much...Try it, it's addictive. I like using "Safe T Kut rubber for best results and lots of sizes of rubber available inexpensively.

Lindsay thank you SO much for this video!! I just ordered the stamp carving tools a couple weeks ago, but haven't been able to try them out yet. I need to get some erasers first. bad thing is, I was just at Dollar Tree yesterday and seen the 6 pack of those white erasers, and was trying to remember what I was needing them for, but couldnt think of it, so i didnt get them, now I'm kicking myself in the butt that I didnt. I dont get to get out often, so I may have to order some because I dont know when I'll get a chance to go to the store again. I was wondering if you think you could please stamp out all your self carved stamps and take a picture of the stamped image next to each of the stamps so that we can see the effects that each of the stamps make. Like the flower stamps for example, I'm curious as to how those thin lines on them show up when stamped. They look like they arent carved away but just maybe cut in to? Does it just create a darker line of whatever color you're using? If you find the time to stamp them and take pictures for me, I'd really greatly appreciate it. Thank you again for this video and for all your great videos and wonderful tips, tricks, techniques, and tutorials. Your chanel is the only one I visit on a daily basis (multiple times a day)

Neat idea! Why don't you spritz those carvers with some of that sewing machine oil or some WD-40? WD-40 might unstick the stuck one. You can always wipe them down before carving and then re-spritz them before storing them. My wife makes handbags and has stamped on burlap and other fabric to enhance her designs. This technique for making custom stamps ought to come in handy! Next trip, we get some big erasers from the Dollar Tree!

Carlotta Holman If I remember correctly, those are just big dvd-cases (for the early doubles, maybe hard to find now). I bet you can find some candies that have perfect containers. Or tealights. Some art supplies come too in these hard plastic boxes, ie. markers, color pencils, kalligraphy inks, etc. Keep your eyes peeled when shopping, check your local goodwill store (you wont believe how many so called `better` containers end up there!) and ask if friends & family have something you could use. Hope this helps.

They are sometimes as large as 12x12. You cannot buy stamps that large which is what is fun!I sent a birthday card to a KZbin personality, RVDebs. If you watch her " Thursday two surprises in the mail"video from last week, you will see some of my bigger stamp carvings on the envelope! and card I sent her. So much fun!
