Phil, at the start of this video, you stated, I don't know what I am doing! I disagree, you DO KNOW what you are doing, you just don't always know where or how to start or what the final project will turn out to be! But you ALWAY'S triumph in the end! You are an inspiration to me and all your fans, keep turning!

Even before you turned it around to start work on the inside I was already telling Carole that, if only we were 4800 miles closer to you, I would pay serious money for that piece! I think that, of all the turnings we have watched you do, this one is by far my favourite.

While all the fireworks and blasting was going on out side, you were creating your own beautiful fireworks display of your own inside!!!! Beautiful things some times take a lot of work and TLC. The wood of the different branch's, bark inclusions, and the natural bark were a beautiful combo that really set it off. I am glad that you took the extra time it needed to make it shine!!!! and it shows. Your foresight of how to attack this piece was a gift from GOD and we were fortunate enough to witness it. What an early XMAS you gave to us. THANK YOU KEEP ON TURNING

When you first started showing the root ball, I thought I’d seen a face on the side and was convinced that you’d say “I’m not gonna turn the outside “. I was like…😢. But then you didn’t even notice it as I did anyway and turned it away. I realized that I would have end up liking whatever you did. I think I just like being in the shop with you talking no matter what it looks like 🤔. I really like seeing the results without having to actually experience all the sanding myself. 😅Thanks Phil

Hi Phil Root balls and burls have such beautiful grain and features and I think you brought out the best in this piece. I think it was worth the effort particularly since it was you doing it. lol Nice addition to your collection if you get to keep it and someone doesn't try to sneak it away. Take care Bob

Appreciate your comments about the 6 hours of sanding and getting tired, youtubers often forget that a 1/2 hour video seems like 1/2 hours work when it represents hours days or weeks of work involving persistence and determination BUT the reward is as you have ably demonstrated is a beautiful object which will outlast us all

Minimal difference to the shape of the root ball to the finished product and I love it, Apple one of my favourite woods when turned, good job Phil that was one piece that could have been ruined by overdoing things. 😁

I had a yard sale recently and sold off a load of my pieces for cheap. It made me realise I probably haven't turned anything in 2 years. I just watched this vid, and the bug is coming back. Thanks Phil, that bowl is beautiful.
