I usually do my own when I want spice up my beans. I just add a spoon of curry paste to a tin of own brand Aldi beans and a drizzle of olive oil and simmer for 2 mins. You can also use curry powder instead of the paste. Far cheaper than a tin for £1.80. Sometimes I’ll fry half an onion with the curried beans as well if I’m eating it as part of a more substantial meal, like with an omelette. Delicious.

Never do baked beans in microwave. You can elevate beans to a far higher level by warming them on hob but very very gentley and slowly. Most folks just warm/heat them up but the trick is to actually cook them low and slow for about 15 maybe 20 minutes…the difference in both taste and texture is massive.
@markytuk1
@markytuk1 11 ай бұрын
Not really though. I say this as someone who has microwaved beans. Sure they're better heated in a pan on a hob but they're not that much different. The main difference is in the brand of beans you buy.

£5.40 for three cans of beans? 😲 ... Good God! ... Cost of living crisis? What cost of living crisis? ... Won the lottery have you, Gareth? In Aldi, I can get 19 cans of beans, for the price you paid for 3! ... At the same price as the Heinz, my 19 cans of beans would cost £34.20! Did you see "Tonight" the other night, about "Ultra Processed Foods?" Practically everything you review is UPF, and excessive consumption is bad for health! UPF foods have LOTS of additives, and usually have those really long lists of ingredients. Baked Beans are a UPF, but one of the less harmful ones. EDIT: Your review methodology may be flawed? How hungry you are can skew results. Things are often "more delicious" the more hungry you are. Additionally, due to the sugar and salt, Baked Beans are delicious, no matter what's in 'em!

How much per tin.. 😱 and only 3/4 full...😱.. Strangely though, this is nothing new. I remember Heinz Curry beans from the 1970's. Came in a Yellow tin and a small tin option too. They were bloody awful, another bad example of cultural interpretation. They had raisins in them and were about as spicy as Cornish Ice cream. So even back then, people attempted to make their own or forget it as a bad idea. Nowadays I sometimes make BBQ beans using cheap brands, but leave the concept of Curry beans well alone.

Love the Tikka, Chilli, (barbecue and curry aren't that bad) Jalfrezi was a wee bit hot for me, but not willing to go to the vindaloo..........but, I suppose if you had them with loads of buttered toast they'd be fine...........Wish they did a butter (not chicken) version. Did you do the cathedral city cheese version yet? Did you ever do the Baked beans pizza? from Iceland? Glad I won't be in your house tomorrow..........haha. Asda did have em on for 5 for a fiver, but I think thats ended now............ :(

heinz are not doing them selves any favours, by doing this, I,m still putting "curry powder and raisins" in the cheapest beans going, and if I want a real kick,a drop of chilli sauce! (encona), still getting away with 20p a tin of beans or less, I won,t pay nine times the price when it,s so easy to make your own? At £1.80 they can stay on the shelves!!! get wise folk, cheapest beans , curry powder ,and raisins!! Yummy! hope your stomach recovers Gareth, I think you may be better off with my recipe,!! 😂😂😂...

Great review, I used to like the original curry beans, I think I'll give the hot ones a try Heinz are my favourite beans but the cost has skyrocketed, I mean two tins of beans is the same price as a kilo of chicken thighs, it's bloody madness!! . PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.

So much for them being "Limited Edition". I just looked at Asda and they're still selling these. Price per can is cheaper than when you bought yours, £1.40 plus they've got a deal for "Any 5 for £5" so a quid a can. In saying that, if I wanted some curry flavour beans I'd stick with Lidl Newgate beans (about 50p a can and yummy) and just add various spices of my own. :)

The normal Heinz Beanz r £1.70p-shocking. Guessing these have 10p put on them because they’re a Limited Edition??

Always have Lidl beans. Add a squirt of ketchup (Lidl , a fraction of the price of Heinz) good grind of black pepper and either chilli/paprika/smoked paprika powder. Bosh!

Is Heinz watching this conversation? Today, in Asda, Heinz soups were still £1.70 each, but the multibuy offer has changed ! 5 for £5 now. And their beans have dropped from £1.40 to 90p Their £2 ravioli, spag bol and spaghetti with sausages are also in the 5 for £5 offer. Half price!
