Hi, Selden mast is the manufacturer of the furler and track for the traveller. Fun that you like it. Good luck with your plan. Cheers!

Hi there , i have done the same to my boat, did you worry about running back stay for the stay sail, thx Pete
@uventure.lifestyle

Hi Pete, no we don't have running back stays so high up. The fitting is only 45cm like 1,5feet under the top top stay. But I have running back stay that sits under the top spreader, for an extra inner forestay if needed. Cheers 😁

I am curious about these self-tacking jobs. I see no way to adjust the foot of the sail, or even how to trim it. Is that something you could demonstrate in the future?

Hi Calvin, nice to get a video suggestion!👍 We take this to us and try to explain the sail trim and + and - off this type of sail setup in the future. 👍😁

Nice upgrade. Tighter upwind angles may still result in faster sailing if you don't have to tack as much. Looks like the inner stay attaches pretty high on the mast, so no need for a baby-back stay or running back-stay, correct?

Hi Marc, Yes the upwind sailing is easy now. The inner stay is high up on the mast so no need for extra stay. Cheers 😀

Have you worked out how to heave to?
@Cptnbond
@Cptnbond 3 ай бұрын
Simple enough, prevent the car from moving over to the other side, either with some kind of locking pin or attach the car to a preventer line. Cheers.

@Cptnbond The idea is that the car handles the side to side movement of the sail so you don't have to trim the sail every time you tack. Cheers.

@@Cptnbond I don't think @uventure understood our exchange. Two things on your suggestion. That means going and faffing on the fore-deck....not great if heaving to for an emergency or a big blow. 2.when you do lock it, I've found that the autotack compromisation of clew position constrains the sail so far inboard that it doesn't back at a heave-to kindly angle. The result being a heave-to angle that's difficult or tenuous or too beamy to the wind (and thus waves). This can be moderated a bit by boom adjustment...but at the cost of additional heel to the detrement of our non-starboard tack friendly stove gimble 🙄. It was a bit better with another line rigged to snap shackeled out near the rail. But that then has to be released at the foredeck. I also tried adding aa alternative sheet blocked at the same point....but then you end up with a flogging lazy sheet getting in the way of the autotacker car....that needs removal anyway. TBH, I don't like auto tackers.

I just realized that you cannot have a larger % genoa. The clew has to be forward of the mast to attach to the self tacking traveler.

Hi FM! Yes correct, the sail is made to fit the front triangle perfectly. we have a +100% genoa furled in front of the self tacking jib furler. Cheers 👍😀.
