I actually own Ryobi tools. They're under-powered. Sometimes by a significant margin. Why have I standardized on their 18volt platform? Four reasons: 1) Inexpensive compared to a lot of other brands. 2) Ryobi is the brand least likely to discontinue their batteries, and come out with new ones that are not compatible with their current crop of cordless power-tools. Thus turning the ones you already own into soon to be ugly paperweights! (Yes, there have been brands who have done that very thing in the past.) 3) Just the sheer, staggering number of tools they come out with that work off of their 18volt batteries. Including about 7 different string-trimmers and no less than 4 Hot-glue gadgets. Including a mini one, with a stand. If you want choice, you need to choose Ryobi. (But yeah, that is an insane number of trimmers. Most other brands have like.... one.) 4) Easily found without having to go online or make a special trip out to a Brick & Mortar location! That one is a HUGE advantage! I live in a major city. There are half a dozen Home Depot locations near me. I can easily find Ryobi tools. Other brands? One Lowe's (15 miles away), One Ace Hardware (10 miles away), several Harbor Freights (so many miles away each that they're not even worth driving to!) You have a DIY project that needs to get done. You're home from work. Maybe that's your only day off that week. You realize you don't have the tool you need. Some projects can't be put on hold. Get in your vehicle, drive to Home Depot, grab that Ryobi tool you need. Drive home. Get to work. Makes no sense to standardize on a different brand's battery platform if you're not a Pro. Makes no sense to standardize on a brand that requires a special trip out of your way, just to buy tools. So, even though many Ryobi power-tools are under-powered, there are still other reasons to go with Ryobi.

The nice thing about the cushion is that heat is under you core and rising up through you. With a poncho style jacket, it will keep the heat in and around the upper body - and I agree, especially the back. Because once that cold gets in the spine, all the nerves and muscles contract; which is painful. As for the speaker in the cup holder, my 2004 vehicle is pre Bluetooth. And for whatever reason, using a FM adapter, there’s little to no volume control. On the radio or CD, 20 is uncomfortably loud. Yet on Bluetooth, 63 maxed out is hardly enough to overcome road noise. Going into Apple setting > Bluetooth > Info > Device type and setting to Car Stereo instead of Headphones doesn’t make any difference. This will have a market for those that want to carry it around, and those with older vehicles.

I'm right there with you man, I saw the e-mail for the heated cushion my head exploded..take my money Ryobi! I'm always cold and my boney butt can't take those hard benches. I might even use this for my office chair in the mornings... or in my Jeep with the doors off! That Bluetooth speaker might be a little more interesting than it looks on first blush. I think it floats. It will link up with your other VERSE speakers (the LINK one or the clamp speakers)... so you could have a few of these guys in a bigger area (around a pool?). I believe that USB-C port on the back lets you charge the battery while the speaker is working, which is kind of cool. If it sounds good, it could be a pretty solid choice!

So I decided to go with Milwaukee for my HD tools and Ryobi for the outdoor and occasional use stuff. Only problem with Milwaukee is the pricing, so as the years have gone on I've gotten a mix of both. Love my M12/M18 tools and really been impressed with the Ryobi tools. Two of my nail guns are Ryobi and they've been rock solid.

That heated seat just made me more excited about that platform, because the way the batteries go into the remote. It got me thinking about my Milwaukee heated hoodie. You’re stuck with that big m12 battery pressing into your kidney, and now they have the flat packs for their new heated gear. This seems like a better approach. You don’t need to buy a whole new battery like the M12, but Ryobi could just make the tools to have a spot for more than one of these 4v batteries. They could have then in parallel or series depending on what voltage or amperage they need for that tool or lifestyle product. They wouldn’t even have to be on the same spot on the tool. The could have a project that takes a 4v on each side to keep the weight of the thing balanced. If they did heated jackets, they could have one of these batteries on each side, so it doesn’t always feel like it’s pulling to that side. My m12 hoodies always feels like the front of the neck is pressing in on my neck, because of that battery hanging back there. I might have to get into this platform now too.

Clint, I've watched most of your videos on Skil stuff and they too are innovating like Ryobi BUT without press releases. I just got back from my local Lowes where I picked up a Skil 12v 2.0ah battery on clearance, BUT right next to that battery was a NEW Skil 12v impact driver that said 1 inch shorter than previous gen and was kitted with a new 12v usb c battery similar to the 20v one you showed on your channel a while ago. It came with a 45w usb c charger brick and cord instead of the typical jump charge battery charger. Do you have any contacts at Chervon/Skil about this new Skil 12v battery or whether they will be releasing larger 12v batteries like it soon??

I thought I'd reach out given you had received their 20v usb c battery and made a video, yet I haven't seen them for sale anywhere except online for about a year. It seems such a leap forward from a DIY brand to just eliminate the stand alone chargers and have two way charging batteries, then BAM, a 12v version is just sitting on the shelf at Lowes in a kit. Keep an eye out, you may see one in the wild like I did, but maybe you'll receive a unit to review like you did the 20v battery. Keep the content coming, it's much appreciated for us DIY guys!!

I've been saying for the last 4 years that Ryobi as well as other cordless tool manufacturers should be diversifying their product lines. By this I mean more home cordless products, especially in the kitchen and personal/practical/portable and necessary life enhancing products i.e. usb body fans, Heaters etc. Would change everything. And from a societal and climate change point of view, these types of products would revolutionize how people draw energy from a stressed out grid. I see these types of products replacing every type of plug in product thus rendering power grid failures a thing of past in my opinion.

Just happened to come across this video and I've got the speaker. And it's actually pretty darn good. Especially if you have an Android phone and you use a third-party equalizer app like power amp equalizer. It is better than a JBL flip 6. But not quite a JBL charge. 5. But I can confirm about 5 hours on that 6-hour battery claim. Even better if you buy the two pack of the three anp hour lithium batteries at half price on sale. I got the 12-in Ryobi tool pouch to carry it and a charger and a spare battery in.

Nice overview. 1. I like the lithium usb concept platform. I wish Milwaukee had this. I have several redlithium usb battery spares doing nothing. Would be nice to put them in other tools than only lights or lasers earphones. It's strange they don't even fit in the milwaukee electric screwdriver! 2. I think many of the ryobi lithium tools are great ideas, but fall short in execution. I think many of the tools could had been designed more compacly and elegantly. These first gen prducts look a bit rough around the edges in desgn. 3. The heated cushion is a great idea. Seeing the pictures of how people sit on them makes me doubt their comfort level. S cushion should be supportive and not squash all the way like is shown on the picture. I have my doubt of sufficient padding in the cushion. Would be srprised there is a bigger airgap and less density to reduce heating element damage and overheating damaging the soft cushion materials. 4. I think the 2 battery bay looks very conservative to me for a heated cushion. Seeingbmilwaukee uses the three battery m12 version for their heated gear a minimum of three battery bay for heated gear should be the norm for ryobi too. 5. The speaker is okay. Mobile are a dime a dozen. I wouldn't invest in this in general to my current BT speakers. The lithium usb platform, once invested, does make it interesting for the future. 6. I feel like most redlithium tools look and feel somewhat underpowered. Forv delicate jobs in and around the house or basic job case of recreational uses I can understand the power range choices. However for tjosecrare instances it would be nice the tools also offered an 8 V boost mode for certain usb lithium tools, that can run on two usb lithium batteties for a bit more power on tjose rate occasions, and all else just run on a single batter on basic mode. It would make the tools more vetstaile. I think sectretly milwaukee would also do more with redlithium batteries. Even perhaps make more compelling powerpack afaptor packs where we could combine 3-8 batteries to make a bidirectional powerpack or even expand the line up to accomodate even more daily oractcal lifestyle tools, next to the job tools. That would be awesome.

You know what would make Ryobi 4 volt tools much better, that you can charge the battery put in the tool without having to take out the battery to recharge. I see a heated jacket coming on the 4v lineup. With that dual battery adapter (and tools with 2 battery slots period) i see some bigger usb lithium tools coming. Nothing thats an 18v replacement, but things the 18v batteries are too big and clunky for. Since these are usb rechargeable, the ability to charge them anywhere make the type of equipment you can stick them in much more versitile. Ryobi vape pen?
