The ONLY window there was to make the fight between the time Canelo got to that division and now was in May 2024, until he decided to call the WBC in February to move up. And now him and Morrell are fighting in the PBC's best event on their schedule. Do not take away from the event because YOU continue to hold onto Canelo. Let that mf fade into the sunset. He's retired.

Canelo wasn't even at that weight at ANY of those times, so them blaming Canelo for the fight not happening is laughable. They leave the context out when they mention these things because it paints an accurate but negative picture of the Benavidez camp. Canelo got there in 2020, David was a champion in 2019. He's undefeated. Why didn't he have a belt to leverage for Canelo, KNOWING Canelo would be heading down to the weight after fighting Kovalev? What happened to it? Why didn't he unify with Plant in 2019 when that would have left Canelo with no choice but to see him for Undisputed? When he earned his shot to MANDATORY CHALLENGER, why did he make the call in February to request to fight at 75 when he already had the title shot lined up at 68? Why hasn't he mentioned anything about his rib injury that he got in the Gvozdyk fight, while claiming Canelo was ducking him for September 2024? He also mentioned on his IG that he was at 230lbs. Were we expecting Canelo to abide by David's schedule and make him offers before David decided to fight Gvozdyk? They will NEVER answer those questions though.

While Benavidez typically gains momentum as the fight progresses, he’ll be seriously tested in those early rounds. It’ll come down to how well he manages that initial pressure before he gets into his rhythm.
