By the way if you want to explore a ship you can change interact mode to always show, that way you can find all the clicky things more easily. And I bet your keybind for landing gear was just messed up cause it's a new patch, so either rebinding it or, as recommended, deleting shader and user folders should fix it. And it's the Force that's supposed to be shielded, not the Velocity.

If you use vehicles a lot what might be helpful is to load and unload using the Max Tractor Beam (or for now the Multi Tool) instead of driving in. It allows more precise loading and saves some time (as we haven't got a remote for opening and closing the ship while inside the vehicle).

Very true, however during my video I tried to do that, but the location is in armistices so it is difficulty and when I got out of the location, the rotating function of the maxlift is bugged but that was in the EPTU, so I haven't tried that in the live patch, hope that is fixed.

Base Cutter has a slot for a Railgun as well. And an STV easily fits in the cargo bay. I dont see any advantage for the Rambler actually, especially as the regular Cutter already has got huge gas tanks.

worth noting the hump on the roof is, according to ship sales page, an auxiliary fuel tank. However atm it seems to have the same fuel capacity as the other cutter variants hopefully this will be fixed in some future patch

Hmm so at the moment reality is the original Cutter has more space in the back, and same range, so unless your taking along a couple o mates no real reason to upgrade to this from the original its just unused bells and whistles at the moment... Thanks fir letting us know about the Fuel issue.

Hi Captain great first look as always, for those of us with Cutter basics would like to see the comparison, important as we can upgrade for £5 at the moment.. But don't want to loose that precious 4 SCU storage for Bunkers. So can you look at internal storage, number of box's you can get in, (so focus on is that rear area really smaller) and is the extra fuel tank really adding to range to do more bunkers between refueling! I'm also getting really confused as some are saying you can get more in the back of a Scout than you can in the base version...

Thanks for the comments. If cargo space is your main focus, I'd say the base cutter is still the best, because it has 4 SCU, but the rambler has only 2, and the nice looking living areas is just for the looks. and as for the fuel tank, it says that the rambler has more, but so far everything is the same with the base cutter, and the base cutter already has a decent QT fuel range.

If there is any way to keep the door open, you should be able to get the X1 Force (that's the one with the shield and repeater, Velocity doesn't have a gun or shield) in there easier. Maybe line it up outside the ramp, turn the X1 off, and then stand in the doorway and tractor it in?

It is difficult to hold the door open unless another player is there. But another option is to tractor the weapon off, and then put it on if you need to use it.

Losing the ability to fit my STV properly in the back is not worth any of the supposed advantages (yes I saw the STV does technically fit but there's no way I'm doing that squish every time). Especially considering that even though I'm desperately looking for a small ship with a more livable interior, the Rambler's changes did practically nothing to make me feel more at home inside - actually, it feels LESS inviting than the Cutter. Wasted opportunity as far as I'm concerned.

Looks cool, but I have a cutter specifically for the vehicles it can carry. All I can think watching this is how they could've fit most of that stuff in the base cutter while keeping space for an STV. There's a void at the foot of the bed and if the bathroom opened outward it would take up half the footprint, plus what is behind it?

Vk-00 is horrible on gas. You can double or triple your mileage with a Firefox. It's a B but it's amazing on all vehicles. Also if you press K when landing it enables VTOL and your engines shift vertical to land smoother. You should try it, makes a huge difference.

The scout can fit a dragonfly. The cutter is next. Then the rambler has the least amount of room for vehicles. If I’m not caring a vehicle, I would get another type of ship. The weapon racks are nice though. To me, the scout is an excellent small vehicle transport. That would be my main focus for this type of ship. But to each their own. Thanks for the review!

Yes the Scout is also very nice, but the extra gun racks especially railgun racks is a great feature for me, as I us the railgun a lot, and the ability to fit all those vehicles, is also great. And the interior looks is better. Bed to log out is a must. But it only got half of the cargo (2 SCU) as the base cutter. So yeah, to each their own.

With that in mine, for a first ship it might be the ship to get, with the other amenities in mind. I just like the idea of a small dropship for a ground vehicle. Sneaking in to areas quietly. I picked up the Drake Cutter when it came out and then the Cutter Scout. Now I want the Rambler so I will sacrifice the basic Cutter as the Scout is just as good at carrying small vehicles as the base Cutter. I see the Rambler as a not just a good solo starter for Exploration but also good for box missions and bunker missions with a buddy or two in the main cabin. Having that many gun racks and extra seats means it works for short range hops like a mini-Cutty Black. Imagine somebody thinking that there is just one guy in there when there are three or four. Another thing I like about the Drake Cutter series over most starters is that it was designed with a real airlock in it. No venting all your O2 when you open your hatch. Out of the starter ships, the Rambler and the Syulen are the two with the longest range both in Quantum fuel and Hydrogen. However, the Rambler has less SCU of storage but can carry a small vehicle, as you demonstrated while the Syulen cannot. Also, the Rambler has the kitchenette in it while the Syulen only has a desk besides the restroom and bed in the living space. Pricewise, the Rambler is a better bargain but the Syulen is better if you get into a fight. However, the best bet is to avoid fights (PVP) if you can with any starter ship. Starter PVE bounty missions are one thing, PVP is another altogether. Thanks for the detailed review of the Rambler.

Yeah indeed, that is what I am surprised about this little ship personally, it is small but so many functions. many seats, gun racks, fits many small vehicles, and X1s and interior looks nice. Of course after all it is a starter ship, but that is a really good one for beginners, or to start again after a full wipe.

The Rambler is a waste of pixels. All the changes to the hab/cab are useless even when/if they have gameplay. Just a few minor changes to the base variant would make it even more superior. Turn the shitter to face the bed so you don't need room to get out, that gives you room to put a fold out table/chair combo. Widen the cargo bay by like a foot. Put the tank on the base roof. Done, perfect Cooter. The suit closet is useless as you have a storage closet. The kitchenette is useless as you can store sustenance in the closet. The extra weapons rack is useless as you have all the slots you need in the cockpit. Any other guns can go in the closet. If you are transporting people you are in the wrong ship. The exterior of the rambler looks good though.

Rambler size: 20 x 13 x 6 m Cutter Base size: 20 x 13 x 6 m, so they are exactly same size, I assume the back ramp width are the same as well.

I really like this style of "variant" design. Wish they'd go back through the 300i, 100i and other starters and make each variant a body change. Change the spoiler shape for each variant and have more robust changes to interior. The interior on the 300i makes no sense outside of the context of the touring. Why a BH vehicle has no cold storage for bodies and is just a lux interior is just comical. Having ships like the Mustang with multiple body options would also feed into the eventual customization system as we can swap out elements like a spoiler and the paint to make our ship more our own, getting ahead of that with variants having different body options while the chasis and core stays the same would be ideal. Especially if we can mix and match.

C1 is a great ship! As long as you have that, I think the Rambler might be a better choice, speaking personally, it just looks better and more gun racks, as long as you don't worry about the extra cargo space.
