Great episode! Yeah, it took them a while to get to this point, but we're getting some serious payoff to all the struggles of being a rookie trainer now. I love how the anime is really keeping battle styles consistent for our main characters, constantly showing characters developing strategies then having to further perfect these strategies over time. For example, during the Grusha episode, Floragato learned how to tie up the legs of flying pokemon then use its rope to use acrobatics. Against Amethio, she did the same thing to maneuver with a branch, catching Amethio off guard. Floragato used the same technique against Garganacl, landing a huge hit and forcing Garg to tera, but this couldn't wrap up the fight because she couldn't output enough damage to break through recover. Then, here, Floragato did the same thing against Killowattrel, but Roy was expecting it and had a countermeasure, using spark to punish this technique and paralyze Floragato. And this is just one example! It's the same technique, but each fight still feels different because every pokemon has different counterplay to it. The anime is taking very careful notes of what each pokemon is able to do, what the pokemon have learned, and is constantly forcing trainers to adapt to each other. What results is a very natural training arc where the pokemon really feel like they're getting stronger every episode. That's impressive. I dunno if the anime has ever pulled this off so well before!

That's all well and good but it doesn't change the fact Roy was given heaps of success at the cost at Dot and especially Liko racking up constant Ls They all should have gotten their fair amount of wins this arc

The one thing we have never seen from Ash, is traveling with his main rival. All of Ash's traveling companions are friends, former opponents, and supporters. He did battle main of them, but usually only once and they either had other interests or were just friends. The idea that Liko and Roy could be rivals like Ash and Gary or Red and Blue and travel together all the time is exciting, and hopeful. I hope this creates a rivalry between their pokemon as well, competing to defeat the other, especially the starters. You can even have all three learn the Pledge moves, to create combinations that show their bonds.

This battle reminds me more of an Ash vs Misty dynamic. In the one Totodile episode, there was an Ash vs Misty match for Totodile. Ash ended up winning the match for Totodile and Misty lost the battle, but ended up with one of her Pokémon evolving. This what I thought would happen for Liko and Roy.

I LOVED this episode! Both Liko and Roy did amazing! Liko earned her tera and now Floragoto has sucker punch. Meanwhile Roy got a W and a evolution! The animation was beautiful and honestly i haven't smiled this hard in a long time! Kilowattrel and Hattreme did great here and gave it their all!

I ADORED this episode. I was a little disappointed that liko lost again but. I am pretty satisfied with their battle since Roy's fuecoco evolved and their development overall. And I had to say, I didn't expect hattreme would use its healer ability to heal floragato. It was a genuine shock to me.

I was hoping for Liko to win since she hadn't really had the best run this arc (having her course opponents with type advantages, compared to Roy and Dot), but it was still a great battle either way and both are showing a lot of improvement.

Roy losing is actually the worse case scenario as it will look bad for Roy to lose with type advantage and evolution. Best result is a draw, but Roy winning is a good one.

@@thefearlessone2649 I'm just saying, since both her big Terastal Course opponents stomped her compared with Roy, who won against his (even tho it took more than one attempt for Ryme), that I wish she got more of a bone thrown her way than really just Sidian. She's still the primary focus character, for the most part. We could say her regular losses don't reflect well on her either.

It makes no sense because just before this, she was doing too well against Amethio before he terrastelized. That's why I think it should've been a draw. I would have no problem with it if she struggled more against Amethio initially. Because this means Roy is somehow at Amethio's league now. Remember that Ceruledge is stronger than all the Explorers Admins' pokemon save for Umbreon. Even Hamber's Dusknoir, who was feared by the two. Glalie and Gargarnacl got one tapped by Cap, while Ceruledge has always shown to put him on ropes in all the prev episodes.

We still don't know what will happen in Horizons after the Rising Volt Tacklers find all of the 6 Heroes and defeat the Explorers, but I have a pretty good idea what the arc after Lockwa will be about. The way I see it Liko Roy and Dot will be invited back to Paldea to compete in the Pokémon League there than we will see the Gym Battles and regional leagues come back into the main story.
