that Marvel Comics cover for "The Transformers are all dead" is probably the most iconic transformers cover of all time. I find it weird that Hasbro didn't get the permission to use the vintage Marvel logo on the boxes

The problem with getting the logo is it wouldn’t be permanent and two years from now the line could (hopefully) be a big hit and then Marvel steps in and decides they want more money. Then they either have to pay more or change the box art, which collectors hate.

Based on the images available, Sandstorm not only appears to be a modern version of the original figure, but its transformation process also seems to be very similar to that figure.

1st of all, it doesn't always have to be "happy dude" faces. the mouth is the iconic head for the g1 character (i.e. the cartoon). maybe the upgrade kits can fix that.

I actually like the face plate - think about it...when you are in the middle of a SANDSTORM you want to cover your face so you can deal with whatever comes your way 👊

G1 Sandstorn's vehicle modes were just as good, with the only things that really gave them away being rear wheels peeking out on the bottom of the heli as here, and the buggy only having half a spoiler at the back with the tail rotor on the other side. The improvements to bring robot mode up to modern posability standards is what makes him a must-get.

Sandstorm looks so neat, and probably the best version of this figure that we have gotten in years. Many triple-changer fans like me are definitely going to pick this one up at the last second.

Super Excited for that Comic edition Grimlock. Missed the boat of the SS86 figure and really wanna try and get the mold of Grimlock. really wanted to try get a version with colours similar to his G1 look. This Comic edition is pretty much the same as g1 but with a more vibrant colour palatte. The vibrant colours really make the details pop.

Why didn't they fix Grimlock's missing front teeth? Surely they heard the criticism from the '86 release and I doubt it would've been difficult to alter the mold of the head to add the teeth. Maybe they don't listen to collectors?

I like this comic shockwave. In the comics it’s so much different of a story line that the cartoon. Shockwave wanting to take lead and trying to kill megatron. Can’t wait to get this 100% cool 👍🏻

Here’s a fun repaint idea I had just now: a G1 style movie blackout from Legacy United Sandstorm. With a new head (with his crest) and of course a new color scheme. Just think this would be neat, and besides, we already have a barricade from smokescreen, why not have a Blackout from Sandstorm? I also thought of this idea because blackout’s helicopter mode and sandstorm’s helicopter mode are both Sikorsky helicopters (Sandstorm being a Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion and Blackout being a Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low).

Definitely will need some in hand reviews before deciding on the Sandstorm. Not really liking the buggy mode or head sculpt, but I like how he forms a completely separate helicopter without any car or robot parts hanging off him. Buggy reminds me a lot of Energon Cliffjumper who essentially was Sandstorm without the third mode.

Honestly its weird to say that a backpack is one of my favorite parts of a figure. But the backpack design on sandstorm is spot on to the original toy (which helps the head choice imo). Sandstorms backpack was so pronounced the G1 show model had it and the T30s rotors homaged it. I think he would feel naked without it. The rotor over his head the roundedness it gives his shoulders, more than anyone his design is reliant on it i think. Plus the alts having next to no kibble tells me they werent copping out either. If the robot modes look needs the pack then theres no reason for the alts not to be spotless. It tells me they know what they were doing.

Got to be honest, I love the colour for Shockwave, I love the packaging, but I HATE that "shading" - it just looks like a kid has gone at it with a Sharpie and really takes away from the look of the figure for me. It feels inconsistently applied and only works as "shading" from a very certain light and angle combination. (Also, they haven't applied it to the base that I can see, so that immediately adds an inconsistency within the same box, too...) I would have much preferred them to release him un-shaded and, if they really wanted it as part of the release, have the cel-shading as stickers to give people the choice of whether or not to apply. So my quest for a decent G1 Shockwave (as I came back to collecting too late for the Siege one) at a size bigger than Iron Factory's output goes on. Actually really frustrated by this one!
