Thumbs up to Viktor Axelsen for being able to speak such fluent Mandrin. Even I as a Chinese couldn't speak as fluent as you do!

I think he decided to learn Chinese for a couple of reasons - so he could communicate properly with other players who only spoke chinese, to learn about other players for research to improve his game (maybe even overhear tactics that coaches are giving their players off-court, since many of the best in the world are Chinese), and to show his commitment to his craft so that he would be taken more seriously as a player when competing in Asia
@mountaindew71907 жыл бұрын
#1 reason. Advertisement money in Asia where badminton stars are paid good money to do commercials and the like. It's all about marketability.

@@slaiyfershin why is it disgraceful. You don’t know their story. You don’t know how they were brought up. Maybe speaking Chinese isn’t as useful to them in their environment. Maybe it wasn’t prominent growing up. Not speaking the language of your ancestors does not make you less of a person of that race.

@@leob4403 Nowadays Danish kids have English from 1st grade, German from 5th and French from 7th grade. In high school they continue English and either German, French or a new language like Spanish, Russian, Chinese or Japanese. Assuming he's proficient in all the languages he's been taught in school, the total number is 5 or 6 when including Danish and Mandarin. German and French skills are usually no way near English though.

He learned it cuz hesca humble Person. Not Timo boll as in table Tennis China is dominant, its the mixed south-east Region over China, who wether like China very much in General nor they speaking various nun mandarin nun Kantonese own languages. Try to learn indian f.e .While it is mostly not notable cuz many Indonesiens and indians malaysians or koreans and japaneses speak either english theirselves or plain and simple their redpectetuve regional Dialects. The fact that many Chinese guest workers have visa in singapur, dubai(loooool), Australien or Tawain does not mean that any of competes in a sports freetime at all;). So you might have space to learn yourself sth from VA by how acting humble. Even so its difficult for for many Asians "to loose their face", Japan does it itself, so no offense, Taiwan a bit lesser, HKN and Macao for granted and for sure even more lesd ,but for China is the Additionional diffuvulty to climb down from their self proclaimed at least the whole and only state-media ,from their tall/small? Horses ". Or from an combat rooster/cock, whatever you wish. Chau lo Dos sa Peace out.
