I can barely imagine how this could be styled any cooler. I just cannot fathom how anyone considers this ugly. Honestly, i think this and the Burgmann are the best most futuristic scooters in existence.

The most recent reaction I've gotten was that it looks like a Jet ski. I can see that!! I remember seeing the Morphus in the dealerships. I thought they were cool but a little strange looking. Now I think that they look sleek and modern. They were ahead of their time with styling, fuel injection, disk brakes, and 14" wheels. Yours is beautiful.

Thanks Craig. Someone said it looked like a Jetski!! Lol Different perspective!! Hey I owned a Helix....they were and still are a top seller. I think Honda recently ceased production though. The Morphous advanced all that which was Helix. Fuel injection, Disc brakes..... More chrome and metal....and larger more Sporty wheels. Today is a great time to be a Scooter Afficionado......ALL MC Manufacturers are cranking out some really radical stuff.... The Piaggio 3 wheeler, The Burgman Executive.....and the Rukus which sell like Hot cakes!!!

I had a Helix clone before I bought my 2008 Morphous in 2015. The Morphous is far superior. Besides the fuel injection, it also has dual disc brakes. The Morphous has 13" wheels. The Helix has a tiny 10" rear wheel. The Morphous has hand brakes. the Helix has a pedal that blocks your foot position. Once I removed that little backrest and adjusted the handlebars, the Morphous is more comfortable than the Helix and I am 6' 4". The trunk on the Morphous is smaller but the Helix lacks the underseat storage. I regularly carry 140 pounds of feed along with $50 worth of groceries on my Morphous by stacking three bags behind me. I carry a duffle bag in the trunk that holds loads of groceries. Yesterday I hauled a 330' roll of fencing the 10 miles to my home. I could never do anything like that with a Helix. The Morphous is far more streamlined and beautiful than the Helix. The only thing I dislike is that crappy digital dashboard on the Morphous. Yamaha was only able to sell about 1700 Morphous scooters in all of North America over 3 years. They were only offered in Canada in 2007. This 13 year old design is still the most futuristic looking scooter ever built.

Yes, the upper rear lights should be lit, but we all put an aftermarket smoked, almost black, light set on them. Plus, a green dash light is far sexier at night. My wheels are bronze, with really low profile tires look sharp. There are aftermarket seats that are way more comfortable. I'm only 5'10", but prefer the extended seat.

Thanks. The Morphous is actually a HUUUGE Seller in Japan under the name Yamaha Maxam. I think Scooters are much more common in the East and Asian Pacific Countries because of the relatively smaller Land masses, significantly higher condensley populated cities ....Compared to the United States where We love to cruise the wide open spaces . Also I think that in some guys ...many...EGO prevents them from choosing a Scooter relating more to the Bad Ass Harley's or Super fast Crotch Rockets... as well as the lower CC of the Scooter. Of course that's my opinion...I may be way off..but I suspect I'm correct by the snickering reactions I get from some I know who do ride larger CC traditional Motorcycles. But The Morphous is cool. A pity, that I came across this video so late. First: congrats to this cool thing. I would like to get one of these, but here in Germany they're as rare as white elephants. When I visited Japan in 2015 I saw several of them and felt the need to have one too. My fear was, that if a japanese is sitting on this scooter, it's looking huge, but when some middle European guy is sitting on it, it may not look so big anymore. I'm close to 6'2" and I am riding a Honda Helix. For my length of legs the best scooter I ever got. I tried Majesty's and a Honda Silverwing scooter as well, but nothing compares to a Helix if you're a tall person. The reason why the Helix did not sell so extreme (but still better as the Morphous) was that when it was released in the mid eighties, more than 10.000 Deutschmarks (maybe $5.000US at that time) for a 250cc scooter was not quite a bargain. And the Helix as well as the Morphous were a bit ahead of their time when released. Most "real bikers" don't like scooters and for the average joe things like this are a bit out of imagination. So they are just for us afficionados. "The U.S. tries to regulate all of your life!" ... well just come here to Germany and you know what the hell of regulations is and in addition to be topped with wisdom from the European Union. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of an united Europe. But a lot of things are just over-regulated. Keep up the good work!

Very Cool comment!! Scooter and Politically. I've owned a Helix as well. The Morphous is a superior Scooter except a bit smaller rear trunk. But under seat makes up . They are roomy...my one video I claimed worry about leg room but the rare instance that legs are cramped the handlebars can be pushed forward a bit to accommodate. If you can find one go for it. About the rear lights. Definitely the directionals should not be on. In most countries rear blinkers are yellow, so they are not used as a marker lights or brake lights. In US the directional lights in the rear are red, so we do use them as multi-purpose. But I guess you figured it out by now :)

I think your comment about tall person riding this scooter is Incorrect, i'm 6'10'' and I fit Comfortable, In front, and have enjoyed for many miles,, I wish you would have express your comment with liltle bit open mind, as this scooter was made with the riding position in mind where the rider have extended legs, not bent as you showed, also the steering bar can be adjusted, by removing the chrome caps and will expose a allen bots, just my 2 cents.
@Jimswholiestofcoleus6 жыл бұрын
JAVIER ORTIZ .... I based my size comment on reviews I read about why sales of the Morphous were so bad that Yamaha discontinued import. AND OF COURSE RIDING HER. I think I mentioned in this or my other subsequent videos about whether the handlebars could indeed be moved upward by loosening the caps. I am 6ft.....and fairly comfortable ....but I base this in how I sat on my Helix.....whose riding seat position wasn't as low as the Morphous. If Your 6ft 10 and You can ride your Morphous without moving the handlebars that's great..... Everyone is different....I have long legs.... Im almost certain that at 6ft 10 (which is obviously the FAR size end of the average rider Of this Scooter) that you had to a dust the handlebars and sit farther back in the seat as possible. I think my comments are accurate.

I bought mine with 100 miles on it for 2 grand, it was in storage for a decade not a scratch on her anywhere. Put a thousand miles on it last summer and had so much fun, till some jackass took a left turn less than 50 ft front of me, I banged up my shoulder pretty good and the bike got a lot of plastic melting as it slid along down the road without me. So the other guys insurance wrote it as a total loss and I'm just waiting for the insulting low figure they're going to throw at me. I hate to lose that scooter, most fun ever. I wonder how this would sell if it was converted to battery electric with a 50 to 90 hp motor and a 90 to 120 mile range with a fast charger that could recharge to 80% in around 15 minutes? I think this and the Honda Helix are great little town and suburban bikes.

Duuude...Thats the ugliest thing on 2 wheels etc etc.... Lol... and Of course wouldn't care. It does look cool in person. As for the Battery operation....I personally like Internal Combustion engines.... This would be dangerously silent as Electric. I have nothing against Tesla, Or Hybrids. I have Solar panels on my Home going on 15 years now. There should be a REASONABLE mix of both Fossil Fuel , Wind, Solar in the US. and We lead the World in Environmentally Clean alternatives.....but unfortunately the POLITICAL Side are extremely PETULANT and expect it to be either 100% Their way or No way. I will never give up my Internal Combustion engine......as I continue to Recycle, upgrade to LED lighting and use my Solar. Anyway went off on a tangent there..... Personally Electric Motorcycles in my opinion are extremely dangerous....much too quiet with today's inattentive drivers!! Thanks for the great comment!!!

@@Jimswholiestofcoleus I am not a zealot on converting to battery electrics. I just see a them as another power source for the most part. Forcing everyone to electric? No, I don’t support that. What I support is using the most viable for the application. What I like about the potential of electrics is fueling up in my garage at my convenience, the generally quieter operation along with the lack of an exhaust smell. I also like a lot of gas powered vehicles. Diesel not so much. (I really dislike the smell of diesels, especially after they get some age and miles on them and the exhaust treatment starts failing or is tampered with or deleted.) I find that unless you have an obnoxiously loud bike, most people do not hear you coming because of the sound insulation in cars along with loud stereos and jabbering on electronic devices.) and in most cases, they often see motorcycles before they here them. At least that’s the case with me. Unless the pipes are well north of 90 Decibels on the sound meter, you seldom hear them before you see them. The bright daytime running lights are much more effective along with bright colors. In my opinion, running with black, dark are purposely low visibility colors on a motorcycle is a very dumb idea for safety reasons, no matter how stylish or attractive they may be. But there are a number of times fossil fuel vehicles are just right. I think nothing beats the sound of a burbling rumble a v8 makes. Or an old 90 degree v4 cross charged Johnson or Evinrude outboard motor on the back of a boat out on the water. Or the sound of a v12 Merlin, Allison or Packard engine in a fighter plane. Or the angry buzz of a 2 stroke Detroit under acceleration in a big truck or bus. Or a Scandia big bore v8 truck diesel. Or the sound of a Ford mustang with its v8 exhaust sound. A 60’s 289 dual exhaust v8 is music to my ears. So is a magnum 383 or 440 in an old Charger or Road Runner. The 5.0 v8 in a new F-150 is sweet.
