The Zuiho looks more primitive than the Ryujo regarding its appearance and yet it has greater destructive capabilities...go figure. 4 years of playing this game, I've only recently embraced playing CV's mostly out of some boredom and in search of a different in-game perspective. So far I have all the tech tree CV's for USA, Japan & Germany (and the Tier III CV's for Great Britain & USSR) I recently acquired the Kaga and am researching the Saipan. My biggest challenge that I struggle with at times, is keeping the CV in a place that's not far from the action but relatively safe from enemy fire. This is a very well-presented demo of the Zuiho showing what it can do. I had no idea that this CV was THAT capable. Catching that DD with a bomb late in the match was huge....it turned the match in your team's favor. That's a highlight reel in play if I ever saw one. Well Done, Tactic!

When I do end up in an IJN carrier, I run Nobusada with Space Fishy on it. Not the most ideal build, but adding 15kn to the torps lends to some pretty wild games.

@@tacticangel yeah, I will say that one of the things I appreciate most about your videos is sticking to the historical commanders. Shows people than can still do well without having to pay $20 a pop for specialty commanders.

@@TrenFrost Well that's neat. I'm glad you like that.about my videos and it is certainly one reason why I do it. I always wonder when people comment with other things I could be doing. I assume it's useful for other folks, but I actually don't have any of those commander so it's usually... like... what am I supposed to say? 😄

Cant you just turn around immediately after releasing torps? What i do us i launch at long range, im not bad with the aim, then circle around. The other way to see it is that if you launch mid range, you can at least dodge and weave... Which i suppose is the same thing on other craft while your setting up your attack run

You could, and certainly against a heavy AA ship like California, there are some persuasive reasons to do that. With only 4.5km, you won't avoid most ship's long range flak, but I actually use that strategy regularly with Kaga. That's only 5km, but for some reason I find that a lot more workable. ...though in Kaga it's not so much about plane preservation there so much as enjoying the ability to cross-torp. 🙃

@@tacticangel Yes cross torp! That's when you shoot one long rang and then one closer perhaps on different angle? I was going to edit my comment when I remembered how I play zuhio. I immensely enjoy your vids!

@@tails18boy getting cross-torped is really just having to dodge torpedoes that are coming from two significantly different angles. So yeah, in Kaga, that's usually dropping at long range and doing an S-shaped pattern to drop another at close range about 90 degrees off of the first. It makes for pretty challenging dodging. 😄

I am sure this is not a sound strategy regarding bombing runs, but does it help your bombers if you drop a fighter consumable above a heavy AA ship? I didnt know if the extra planes would "spread out" the focus of the vessel AA by saturating the area with targets

It can help your bombers, but not much. A portion of the enemy AA will have to shoot them down, but fighters have very, very little HP, so they'll probably get chewed up in a second or two. I would say that it's a lot closer to handing free XP to the enemy than it is to doing much that is useful, particularly if you can place them elsewhere.
