This is nice. The unofficial Bond films need love too, so kudos for including them in your program and with a performance that does it justice. Michel Legrand had come off working for two years on Barbra Streisand's Yentle soundtrack and was exhausted by the time he accepted the Never Say Never Again assignment. One of his weaker scores, but even a low Michel Legrand score is still high by comparison.

Always loved the Herb Alpert trumpet sound at the end of the song in the movie end credits. Warren would be so great at recreating that. 🎺

What a stupid comment! Always have to have one sour apple spoil the whole point of this being an amazing rendition of NSNA I would love her to be in the movie with the Barry scores. That would be a great never say never again ultimate edition!

Actually I don't think Lani Hall sang this that well. Wrong voice for the song. For that soaring chorus imagine Phyllis Hyman (Betcha by Golly Wow) Whitney Houston (I have nothing) or Streisand (Where is it written - another Legrand song btw).

simonsmatthew interesting you say Phyllis Hyman. Are you aware she cut what was SUPPOSED to be the theme for this film, but it got thrown overboard for this version? It’s far superior. This arrangement really kicks the original’s ass, but the Phyllis Hyman theme would’ve automatically been one of the series’ finest. I’d love to hear them take a crack at that. Phyllis said shortly before her death it was her favorite of her own recordings.
