Common thing in NYC, though they mostly serve taxi, limousine, and other for-hire car customers. When COVID shut down the DMV's, for months they became the only practical way to get vehicles registered. I can imagine plenty of shady stuff going on, but me personally I didn't have any issues with the place I was using.

@@jool7793 Well, if you were in business and people were required to buy insurance because a law forces them to or go to jail whenever they get caught on roads without it, wouldn't you have people lined up to get at least the minimum amount of coverage that is required by law? Also, on the higher-end and not required stuff, like theft coverage or comprehensive damage, wouldn't you make sure you charged enough on your rates to cover the damages that would get paid out, with enough extra to make you some money on that investment? Might you want to make sure you could pay out on all the claims you are required to at one time, if needed, to make sure you don't go bankrupt if there was a big crime spree, or a hurricane (it IS Miami) came through and did a lot of damage all at once and you had to pay for it? Otherwise, yeah, I agree. These corporations can be quite greedy, and many just go bankrupt (and don't pay every claim they are supposed to) when something big happens all at once. They even get away with ageism, sexism, and discriminating based on marital status. They charge more on premiums based on those factors. They discriminate based on the neighborhood and how many accidents or thefts it has, which can often break right down racial divides. Try being an 18-year-old unmarried young man in a Puerto Rican and black neighborhood in Miami with some new wheels you want full coverage, including uninsured motorist damage, theft, and natural disaster coverage. I would NOT want to pay for that insurance. Of course, if there were far fewer people stealing cars (especially in that local community), the rates would be lower for that person.

This happened to me in Maryland. They broke my window, stole my car, took it to VA to fix the window and produce fake temp plates at a dealership using a machine that can inly produce those types of plates. The only reason I know because the police found the vehicle in Baltimore county being used by a college student who was obviously involved in the crime but he didn’t expect for the vehicle to be discovered. When I googled the name on the fake registration it was a picture of a kid I seen outside my window several times in PG county. There were McDonalds receipts and garage parking tickets in my car dated the day after my car was stolen with all my cleaning products and tools still in the trunk. The student lied to the police and said he was a victim too and brought the car legitimately (my apartment parking permit sticker was still on the windshield too). Baltimore and PG police believed him and didn’t conduct a further investigation because as I was told by them “just be lucky you got your car back, we have bigger cases to solve”. SMH if any law enforcement is reading this please reply with contact info for an agency representative who can assist me in the DMV area. Thanks!

DMV in California as well as all government agencies have people like this working in them. Why there is so many “licensed and registered” vehicles, even new ones with no insurance. All scams. DMV here has already been busted for selling licenses. Even class A.

I’m in my 50’s and from Miami originally and it has always been that way. Tags and titles are not handled by government offices, you go to a tag agency to get that done. It was a bit of a culture shock for me when I moved to a different state and had to go to the courthouse to register my vehicles. 😂
@MrGbustamanteАй бұрын
Well if we allow the government to process our titles we will be standing in line for days and waiting for titles in the mail for months! How about we just catch the bad guys like they just did.

Not a Cuban for a change. She is from Ecuador (According to jail records, the Ecuadorian national was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and was being held on a $50,000 bond. Those records show she was also already out on felony bond on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash causing no serious injury and she also remains jailed on a magistrate hold). I guess it's one of those things that people somehow don't seem to get what you are saying because it sounds so short and fast. I used to take insurance claims and had to get that information on every claim call. It felt like every time I asked for their VIN (even when asking precursor questions about the car), people almost always asked, "What?" as a response. If I made it a point to sound like a dummy asking, "May I please have the VIN number?," I often got a better response, or at least a, "Where can I find that?"
