[WR] Captain Claw - Full Game 100% Speedrun [2h09min27sec]

A new WR by 24 minutes and the first run without any loads! A well optimized record which will surely be hard to beat. Lots of improvements across all levels and bosses. The perfect time for this category would be a sub 2 hour run, with 1h57m being the a theoretical limit for humans (these are just estimates).
At 48:17 in the video I had some problems. While playing, a popup from OBS came across the screen and I had to alt tab multiple times to try and close it which resulted in the game having no sound for a brief time. Because of that the game also started lagging a lot and was at risk of crashing but thankfully it didn't and everything was fine after a couple of seconds.

Level 2 - 6:00 Very good Battlements
Level 3 - 12:21 Good despite a crucial mistake in a secret area in which a DJ was needed to save the run
Level 4 - 18:33 Had a couple of slow sections but nothing too bad
Level 5 - 26:52 Very good Township, despite being one of the easiest levels in the game it's a pretty hard level to speedrun
Level 6 - 33:02 Extremely good Puerto, tied with one of the previous runs that beat the WR
Level 7 - 42:57 Pretty good, had some notable slowdowns but nothing too bad
Level 8 - 52:05 Very good Shipyards run
Level 9 - 1:02:58 Extremely good Pirate's Cove, managed to beat the WR on it in this run
Level 10 - 1:15:21 Decent nothing too special, very hard to get through this level
Level 11 - 1:26:17 Pretty slow for one of the easier levels in the game
Level 12 - 1:34:02 Standard run for USC, nothing too special but overall pretty good
Level 13 - 1:45:16 Very slow. Lost loading storage for whatever reason, didn't take any risks and took my time with the level and no RTG.
Level 14 - 1:57:36 Good for the last level, this one isn't that hard to get 100% but still had to take it a bit slower than usual

That's absolutely legendary, You are the best at this; I summed the best speed runs you made for each level separately and it was 1h50min10sec for the full game with perfect score! so I think you can break the 2 hours barrier even more the 1h50min barrier💥 I know it will need a lot of grind and time but will be really great, Hope to see that record broken soon legend✊❤‍🔥

Thanks for the kind words, glad you liked the run! The perfect time would also need to account stuff such as boss fights, level transitions and certain glitches/strats on top of the sum of 1h50m across the 14 levels. I guess the perfect time at the moment would be around an 1h57m or somewhere around that area, in general a couple of minutes under 2 hours. There's a also lots of timesaves left across all 14 individual levels so the perfect time for a full game run can certainly go much lower, it'll be a very big grind for sub 2 hours but eventually it'll be done!

That's so strange! At 29:21 you are full health but manage to grab a healing potion and it gives you 25 extra treasure score over the total... what's the reason for that? :o

Yeah, that health pickup has the wrong logic type. For whatever reason it's one of the two pickups throughout the base game that has the wrong logic. In this case the logic type of the health pickup is "TreasurePowerup" instead of "HealthPowerup" hence the 25 points that I get to my total score. A similar thing happens to the dynamite pickup at 39:22 which gives you 99 dynamite instead of the usual 5. I guess these are some small oversights by the original devs of the game and they've stuck up until the latest versions.

Sorry about that. I had to turn off the music because for some reason the music can randomly crash your game. Throughout my previous attempts my game randomly crashed at various points in runs, either near the beginning or sometimes when I was 1 hour in. For these kinds of lengthy runs (any%, full game 100%, etc.) music needs to be turned off to prevent crashes. I'll still use music for individual level speedruns and such but for these kinds of lengthy runs I'll unfortunately have to turn off the music, I'll probably edit the music into the video for future runs or something like that.

Also I'm glad that my run is helping you as a guide for the game, keep in mind that in some levels I used alternate methods of reaching secret areas either as a backup or because it's faster than the inteded route, this mostly applies to the first half of the run/game in this recording.

Yeah I'm aware of a lot of overlooked shortcuts I could've taken. After level 10 I prioritized slowing down a bit to avoid any major fails or time losses since getting past level 10 in a speedrun like this is pretty hard. Level 11 in particular could be improved by quite a bit, it was very slow compared to my other runs

If you're referring to the slight fps drop when collecting those power ups then I'm not sure how to help you because I also experience this, so far I haven't found a solution to that. Although there is a experimental alternative version of the game that uses cnc-ddraw instead of dgvoodoo which fixes the lag and other issues. You can find and download it by looking at the pinned messages in general english in the discord server
