When I saw ‪@jaidenanimations‬ had uploaded a speedrunning video I HAD to react to it. As someone who has done a lot of "first runs" and very few "second runs," that thrill of finally playing a game fast under time pressure is amazing! I've also devoted a good chunk of my time making content to the speedrunning community and getting more people into the speedrunning community, and I love this video and just how awesome it is in a niche that can be jaded from time to time.
If you haven't seen it, Jaiden attempts her first speedrun. I won't spoil the game here suffice it to say it's a Nintendo DS game and hilarious. Not only does Jaiden go on to make a page on speedrun.com for the game, but several categories of which she takes the World Record in ALL of them. I'm going to look at her animated video about her run and point out some of the common issues runners have, some of the experiences she has that seasoned speedrunners will also have, and just the all-around awesomeness of this great video.
OF COURSE GO CHECK OUT JAIDEN'S VIDEO IT'S AWESOME: • I Attempted a Speedrun...

For me it is Legend of Zelda, have played almost every single game in the series. Have played these games since I was a little girl, and let me tell you I am dumb as shit. It takes me forever to figure out some of the puzzles in the dungeons/temples. In breath of the wild some of the temples took me well over an hour to complete because I am just a dumbass, and then when I figure it out after complaining to my smart-ass boyfriend who solved the same temple in like 2 min, I am just like "oh... that makes sense." And don't get me started on my first ever actual playthrough (My first game was Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, but I was so young I dont remember much of my first playthrough and knowing how dumb I am, I highly doubt i beated the game. I probably just ran around being like "Oh cool green guy with sword!") when I was like 10-11ish playing Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, I remember one of the dungeons taking me DAYS to complete. I seriously don't know why I still play these games, in my opinion they are jusy very fun adventure games. I never cared how long it took me to beat it, I just liked running around seeing all the cool stuff I could find.

Mama's English may not be the best but she gave it her best effort. I can definitely relate to blaming anything under the sun for speedrunning mistakes even though I don't run full games. I was speedrunning Mario Maker 2 levels earlier today & I lost track of how many times I cussed the game or Nintendo, only to immediately ask myself what I was even blaming them for. Come to think of it, Cooking Mama was probably a good choice for a an artist to run.

@@YoBGS Yeah there categories such Any% (No Major Glitches) and Any% (No AJS), It's slightly harder to pull off some glitches in that category but at least it's humanly possible compared to (Yes AJS). I started Speed running Cuphead a few months ago. After 200% and s rank play through and just over all playing the game a ton casually, the idea of speed running was a huge turn off. I started off with a category that used a gun that I was more familiar with just to sort of test the waters. I then moved into one of the more “main” categories and have been grinding at it ever since. Probably the best part about speed running is the community. Other runners are always finding out new strats and routs and glitches and helping out new runners and so on. That whole, "this and that problem" I actually relate with. because my Sunshine disc for Gamecube is hella old, I have difficulty trying to get it to the intro screen. and well.... I can only enjoy my 100% save file on it because since about a year ago, I discovered that halfway through the end credits (before the final save that would allow you to get the corona mountain shine) my game would crash without fail.... so even for my LP I personally couldn't show anyone either ending through my own power.

It’s wild you say that because I have the same problem with Tony Hawk. Before the remake came out, I was routinely running Tony Hawk 1-3 as a trifecta. I love how wholesome and supportive you are! I once tried streaming my first speedrun of Scanner Somber, a horror game that I only beated once, and got 3rd place in the list of speedruns.....or, at least I would've if I wasn't playing on New Game+. I'll try to beat it normally in the future.

Don't run Pokemon if you wanna World Record right away. DO run pokemon if you want a supportive community that can help you play the fastest you've ever played. I should've clarified!

Sure if you want to run a GOOD game. Favorite speedrun I've done of a bad game is Caesar's Palace for Genesis. It's a 1 second run bc all you do it leave the Casino lol!

I found this video while looking for more reactions to jaiden’s video. Never have I ever wanted to do a speed run before this. This guy has so much passion and heart about speed running and he only wants to grow the community. Now I want to speed run for the fun of it. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement.

For the Sonic the hedgehog category, sonic mania has a certain pattern where you can get hit ten times, end with zero rings, and skip all the bosses that can be skipped (watch Joeybaby's run on twitch) and pressing a or some other button, then you can finish the end really quickly

4:01 That's the logic I used when I tried to speed run Kirby: Triple Deluxe. I was going for all Sun Stones, then I put it down, came back 6 months later, and realized how stiff my competition had gotten (not to mention my only means of capturing 3ds footage was banned)
