LMAO sorry theon it’s definitely one of the hardest sub hour categories in any game i know of. i really hope this gets more people running Wii Play and maybe even challenge some of the higher medal tier WRs!

woah, i’m glad this connected with you so much! Laser Hockey is way harder on 4:3 than 16:9 if that helps, but the speedrun needs 4:3 to save time in Tanks. good luck if you do start practicing!

hi, glad you enjoyed! Pose Miidi is a strat where you lose lives on Pose Mii level 2. if you lose a life the pattern repeats, and it’s a nicer pattern than most levels (6 bubbles left, then right, left, right, then lose a life). you only lose 10 perfect bonus points and you don’t have to lose all 3 lives at the end. it only saves a few seconds usually, but that’s the point WRs in medal categories are at now, it’s come a long way

How would you rank these from easiest to hardest?

good question! i’d say casually, easiest to hardest for me was Charge, Shooting, Billiards, Fishing, Pose Mii, Tanks, Find Mii, Laser Hockey. but for the speedrun, Tanks and Find Mii are really important, and Billiards and Fishing are really RNG heavy just to win first try

Dumb question but how do you get 2 cursors on shooting, and positive points for shooting the face targets? Is it a second remote thing, or did i never use the nunchuck for it or something?

not a silly question at all! it’s a fairly new thing we do in runs. you can use a second wii remote in 1 player mode to get two pointers, the reason we do it in runs is to hit some objects faster. in medal runs, if you’re on the NTSC US 1.0 version of the game, you can shoot purple targets and get +3 instead of -3, which can save ~10 seconds for Platinum.

haha, version differences are a Wii Series classic. the other big one is in Wii Sports with the 1.0 version saving time in cutscenes. nothing major but it’s good for WR grinding

as for 31:36.. what exactly was the difference in the characters😭 i always sucked at this. and i watched you do it and i still don’t know what the difference is

good question! so in Tanks, if you get hit on the same frame as the final enemy tank, you both lose a life and clear the mission. it’s called FPD and saves 8.5 seconds by not needing to lose that life at the end. (it’s not worth doing on the gold medal because we don’t need to burn lives there) if you can do it on the last mission (30 for platinum) it saves 20 seconds, but only Bronze WR has this rn. in Find Mii, the miis are all looking the same direction except the odd ones out which are looking the other way. the correct miis have a larger hitbox tho so i managed to guess quicker there. hope this helps! i used to suck at Find Mii too, only managed to get silver before adding distinct miis like the ? face, and knowing about the big hitboxes. there’s lots of small strats like that in this game!

yooo thanks Ursi! i modded my wii u to use Gecko which just boots games by ignoring the region lock. it saves 10s in Shooting Range and 4s in loads, so this would’ve been 58:xx without it, but still helped push it down a lot. and i bought the disc off ebay

NTSC is the short name for USA-NTSC, the 1.0 version of Wii Play has faster load times and a glitch in Shooting Range which saves 10 seconds in medal runs. it allows you to hit purple targets and get +3 instead of -3. very silly glitch :p with really old games NTSC played faster than PAL (used in other regions like Europe), but this isn’t a thing on Wii
