Wranglerstar seems like a knife that is at the right quality to pricepoint to toss in as a backup in any of your prepared gear bags since for the price of a normal secondary knife you can buy a dozen and if you break one or lose one you aren't out much from a financial perspective. Honestly have seen worse knives at much higher pricepoints.

My favorite affordable edc is the Kershaw leek, USA made, you’re choice of handle (aluminum, steel, carbon fiber etc) at about 40-100 dollars depending on the materials. The leek was designed be a chef, (Ken onion) in collaboration with kershaw, it holds an edge, in the years I’ve had mine the blade has not chipped, rolled, now has it loosened at all. There is no play in it whatsoever. It’s slim, light, affordable, and high quality. I adore it.

Swiss soldier here. The reason for the lock on the Victorinox going to the right is because of swiss military training. The first thing we learned when gerting our rifles was to never take our strong hand, the right for most off our rifles. That means if you had to use your knife to cut something while opperating or holding your rifle youd use the knife lefthanded and bacause you have to be able to close it onehanded the knife is somewhat of a lefthanded knife.

My favorite cheap knife is still the Brucks Dynasty. Unfortunately they are no longer offered by anyone on Amazon, but I bought 1 for $10 and two for $11.50 a few years ago. Cheap enough that I don't mind if I drop one while working outside or it gets "borrowed" indefinitely, but haven't lost any of them yet. The edge can use a touch up every couple of weeks with moderate use, every week when in heavy use like the start of trout season or over the holidays when I switch to wood heat while guests are over.

I must preface my criticism with the disclaimer that I enjoy most of what Mr. W produces, however... I found it odd that a "test" of a knife did not involve cutting anything. I'd rather have seen the knife used to do what knives do... cut. Including, in this case, cutting a seat belt and breaking glass. If Mr. W will loan me his favorite $170 EDC, I'll film a video of how I broke it while never cutting a thing.

I agree, I carry this knife and its a pretty sturdy companion. He was wrong about the price.... they have always been $7.18 at the cheapest and the more popular handle designs are around $9ish. I was even able to use this knife to baton bark off a log. When i finally did break it beyond repair, I simply threw it away and bought a new one. Holds an edge really well, can take a new edge well, and does a good job cutting through every day materials.

Master makes really decent quality budget knives. I'd rather be able to own 20 different knives and rotates them, than just one that I might lose or have to sharpen more often. That's just me... and I've owned all sorts of knife brands in many quality ranges, from SOG to Boker, to you name it. Ganzos are another one that blow me away in the bang-for-the-buck department. Best quality you can find at that $20-40 pricepoint, with 440C steel and even carbon fiber or G10 scales.

I love that Kershaw knife tool. I've had one for about 5 years. The only issue with it is the miniscule keyring hole. It's basically impossible to put a different ring in it and the material is so thin there that it eventually wears through. Mine wore through and fell off, but luckily when it finally came off, it just thumped onto the floor in my kitchen and wasn't lost.

I've been looking for a cheap knife of decent quality to carry in my bunker pants and seems like this fits the bill, and if I lose it it won't break my heart. The razor blade inside most of these type of 'rescue' knives are generally better suited than the blade for cutting a seatbelt plus you have no need to open the knife which could be quite dangerous in a crash situation.I'm sure it varies by knife but the seatbelt cutters on anything I own that has then are quite razor sharp and the deep channel helps keep the user safe and keep blade pressure on the belt much better during cutting. Plus since you only use it in emergencies it can have a different grind and a more razor-like hone as well as potentially being a different steel than the main blade(and it never gets dulled by use before an emergency). I imagine most if not all of them would work quite well but I'd bet there is a KZbin vid testing them against actual seat belts which I will likely watch after this. Glass breaker is always effective too just remember go or the corners not the center of the glass in a car. And finally there are also some versions which offer a lock out carabiner type carry clip that folds out of the back end of the scale for backpacks or belt loops and I have one I find handy and it can always be stowed to use the pocket clip. And all of these can generally be had in all the normal styles of appearance and blade type and some include emt/fire/police/military emblems on them and are also commonly available in safety orange in addition to various normal finishes and all the ones I have seen are assisted(which I like and is 50 state legal). But as a safety/crash/emergency/camping knife bright orange is always good and heck maybe add a float or a tritium marker to it(or regular glow in the dark for cheaper though much less light). I have many many knives (easily over 150 items total in just blades depending what you include and many staffs bo/escrima, collapsible versions, and some stuff just for fun like chain whips and sai's. ps I swear I'm no weeabo lol (some cheaper ones are from my favorite classic movies like the reverse blade from last samurai or Michone's(prob sp) sword from the walking dead ) but some are high carbon steel full tank real Damascus and fully functional( I even have one if my best ones that has a red metal Damascus blade which is admittedly cool to me and no it's not just a top staining) and I know how to use most of what I own at least basically and have trained martial arts for years and use them for exercise(without blades lol like I do with fire poi and fire staffs(no fire most casual practice which is what I originally came from) but it's mostly a collection of quality made things I've collected over times so they are affordable but good knives and some of them include professional level blades, ,artist arts weapons, and swords of all sizes and types. I'm also particular trained with certain ones like the Karabit and Escrima staffs as well as collapsible baton which is similar and I'm not bad with the katanas for a regular guy at least. The swords are all full tang and most high carbon true Damascus and handmade very nicely and all sorts of other such things though I don't collect nines fantasy blades, I'd prefer my nice axe any day since that's useful (so I have some decent training/practice experience with a good variety of items as well as carrying at least one knife every day out of practicality with small specialized backup tools on my key holder and its chain(made by Victornox, highly suggested, locks to you belt and has two ends for keys one in pocket and one at belt. Great for those who edc a fair amount of little tools and such compactly). Plus I wear a belt with a leatherman multi-tool, 40 compact driver bits including torx because I need them often in what I do, tactical kubaton pen with glass breaker/or defense crown, handcuff key, and space pen cartridge and a tactical single mole pouch of my own secret blend of my most useful items and tricks inc,using a tiny collapsable magnetic grapple hook for item retrieval). I also carry a ton of tech but I'll leave that out haha Sorry for the ramble I'm way too overtired lol, I would say this one or any of these type of knives are generally very good EDC knives for most people especially at these prices and I usually include this if traveling in the car, in addition or instead of whatever else I'm carrying that day depending on where I'm going and the rules. I might also suggest installing an auto safety hammer that has a cutter and two glass breaker heads and a glow in the dark part at mounts accessibly aside in your car in case of emergency: they save a lot of lives and are also very cheap so I suggest everyone always have or bring some type of belt cutter and glass breaker readily available in their car when traveling always or as much as possible at least. If it's on your keys(those even have string loaded easier glass breakers) or mounted inside all the better since you can't forget it and it's easily reachable. I'm not Mr paranoid about safety honestly but cars are a realistic everyday danger and these types of items could save the life of your whole family for 6 bucks in this case. This is one of the times it seems worth it to be safe than sorry. Be safe everyone and keep up the great vids:)

The difference between the liners on both knives are... The Benchmade liners are made from 15n20 (I think) which is nickle based tool steel and the other knives liners are just mild steel.
@mpikas7 жыл бұрын
I would bet that the reason that you can bend it like that and can't bend the BM is that the liners in the BM are likely hardened and the cheap knife liners are not. The aluminum scales on the BM and the solid back also add some to the rigidity. I'd bet that if you made the BM open frame like that knife and dropped some weight by putting some plastic scales on it that knife would still flex more but the BM would break first. When it comes down to it you got a pretty functional knife that seems to hold a decent edge for $6. That's really not a bad deal. If you really used it reasonably hard for 10 days you likely got more than $6 of value out of it even if you broke it now.
