You laugh but I buy quality tools and then 'pretty them up' specifically to make sure they don't get lifted at a work site. Engrave a heart, wrap handles in pink tape, flower decals on socket kits? Every tool will be back in the box no matter how many men are sharing my equipment. I used to put my last name on tools and they'd disappear. But put NANCY on them, and my tools are safe. Nancy isn't my name, but it works, and I suppose chemical etching SISSY will do it too :D

I like how you worded your final take on this. "If I were a lady looking for quality tools, I'd find this kit patronizing." I agree. I personally would be looking for the tools that worked the best. These tools are very obviously cheaply made and wouldn't stand up to actual work but if you want it to have for things like hanging pictures or even driving finishing nails into trim boards periodically, then go for it. I'm sure a female who is looking to do carpentry or whatever will look for tools that were made for continuous and rough use. Kinda makes me feel like that people think being a woman is almost a gimmick nowadays which is horrible.

My wife has amassed a large collection of pink (and purple) tools. She loves 'em. And sometimes her little battery drill is just the thing for a small job, I'd own up to borrowing it a few times. Neither she nor I would be comfortable with her using my big stuff, she's only a little thing and couldn't wield them competently enough to not hurt herself so the pink tools are perfect for her.
@chrismofer6 жыл бұрын
yeah, tools are tools. but also some people like to have colors like pink, purple, deep reds, etc for aesthetic purposes, and men are less likely to buy those for fear of appearing feminine, so for now a pink tool will be associated with being a girl's tool regardless of marketing. But people should buy tools chiefly for their usefullness to them, then for their reliability/longevity relative to price, and then further down the priority list should be the looks and color coordination.

No. Lithium Ion batteries use full output and have no run off. They shut off when there is no power remaining to use the item or tool at full, and do not power back on. This is a safety mechanism in most tools to prevent a fire. Usually standard in most medium tier tools as well. Remember this is a stress test. The tool did its job. It also kept up with whats most important. Safety on the job

For an anniversary gift, my wife asked for a Dewalt XR 20v 1/2" Hog Ring Impact Wrench (bare tool because I already have the drill driver) alongside with a set of impact sockets (deep and standard length) for her to use in the garage to finish the 454 engine block task she has been working on for the previous 2 days to loosen some of the nuts and bolts. We later decided to get a Harbor Freight 'wobble' extension set and it has been working well. The wrench we have had for about 5 months now and is doing wonders for tire rotations on a flatbed trailer, a GMC K2500, Ford F350 Super Duty, Chevrolet 2500 and a Toyota Tacoma, driveshaft removals, fuel tank removals etc. 2 weeks ago, got her the 44" Harbor Freight double tool bank. Just something small for her to start out with because her smaller tool cart got full 5 minutes after assembly :)

Look, it's no secret that most of the time people don't expect women to do any serious work with hand tools, so it's no surprise when inferior tools are made under the guise of "women's tools". Regular tools pack a punch, even though the good stuff tends to be heavier and larger, and are superior to some of the dainty stuff down in the video. The drill and tape measure shown are just sad, and I'm sure the hammer was a 10 ounce or lighter (weak). As a gal that lived in a family of mostly women where we had to DIY everything as we had quite a jacked up house and used appliances and stuff, I appreciate the guy's honesty at the end. Get better tools girls, you might need it someday.

TheLividPig You could find a cheaper tool kit in a neutral color that would outperform this more expensive because it's pretty tool kit that makes a work load harder. I believe the point here is, that tool kits have no reason to be gendered, they are taxed with simply being functional, reliable, and useable. Man, woman, cephalopod it shouldn't matter your gender, just that you need tools to get a job done.

Was that so much of a joke? As he mentioned, other drills he tested *caught on fire* (if only during the "death match"): kzbin.info/www/bejne/haWXdmmga9SSmM0 Shutting off early would at least be way better than that. Also, it's very unlikely someone would use this drill bit on that drill and not e.g. one for making small plug holes in dry walls, to e.g. hang pictures as he mentioned. I appreciate quality tools myself, but then, why not everyone needs an expensive pro tool if it's just going to sit in the cabinet 363 days a year. The main problem with cheap tools is that they tend to break immediately when exposed to actual work - and at least, these tools didn't, underwhelming as they are…

quick little tip concerning the cutter knife: the black part at the back can be slid off and used as a tool to snap off the dull section of the blade in an easy and safe way. No extra pliers needed! Cheers!
