I don´t like it when people ask for Like´s or Comment´s, because it feels so much like they are begging. But you asked so nice, and you seem so passionate about your work. You can never really trust anyone about feelings like this, but I have the impression that there´s a lot of heart in this Bridge. I really appreciate such things. Keep going, and stay healthy.

Wranglerstar ..... I'm doing the commenting at the 4:40 bit where you asked us to :-) The bits of mettle that you weren't sure of the name, in the last episode, that you have settled on calling "crevise's" are call Shackles. I think you have them a bit crossed with carabiners. On the subject of dragging trees or other objects, what you said about keeping your attachment point low was great. What would suggest is shortening the cable (this can be just by rapping the cable round the frost bite a few times before conecting the cable back on itself, that way you still have a long cable when needed) by at least half and attaching to the very bottom of the of the Frost Bite. This means you can raise and lower the Frost Bite to lift the log over objects or to try to shift the weight from the back of the tractor to the front (if you have engaged 4 wheel drive) to aid traction. Alternatively, you could bring the cable to an anchor on another tree, (just put a lifting strop or sling round the tree and secure with a shackle to act as a pulley) that is more in line with the log then you can attach to the tractor and pull from a different direction that allows the tractor to stay level. This can also mean that the anchor on the tree can be placed higher to lift the front of the log as it's being dragged. I hope this can help in the future :-)

I enjoy your vids so much. I am a General Contractor from Northern New Mexico and your my inspiration for one day owning a little piece of heaven in the woods. I own a few acres of dry land and one day my goal is to own even a small piece of forest land to build on so I can teach my sons what I was thought growing up on the Ranch. Thank you for the insight to your great life and family. God bless...

What you were saying about the fall line and safety is so true. My grandfather recently died when a tree that he was pulling in this manner rolled on him and flipped him and he was pinned underneath the machine. The guy that was with him said he was praying and knew he wasn’t going to live because he lives so far out in the woods. He died just a few minutes later. Had the guy that was with him knew about the flip flop winch who knows but it’s not on him and my grandfather knew where he was going. Good video keep it up. God bless

I really enjoy watching your videos! You always make great content and I am always excited to see your next video. I came across your channel a few years ago by accident. I saw your video cutting down the big tree I believe it was a Douglas fir that was shading your garden. I was fascinated the use of axes and crosscut saws to take down the tree. I loved how you all worked as a family. I think truly, in the end, your family working together as a team and your great content was what drew me to your channel. You have an amazing property and I look forward to building my own off-grid homestead on my new property. You are truly an inspiration to us all. God has truly blessed you with a beautiful property to be the steward of and a tractor to make the work easier. Keep up the amazing content. God Bless.

Hey Cody, why not run a chain around the trunk the two feet of slack and chain the other end to frost bite? You could lift the trunk a little off the ground and not have to worry about the hood. Or did you use the hood to make a more interesting video?

Turn that tractor around an pull the way they are engineered to pull. It will pull way more forward than it will in reverse - also by hooking to the end loader your changing the weight ratio on the rear tires.

I went on Amazon a while back and checked out the Gransfors Bruk axes. Pretty spendy. Then I went the Duluth Pack website, and for the most part they were significantly cheaper. Great tools and well worth the price, but I like to save money when/where I can. I have two heritage axes that I'll be handing down to my children. Since I have more than two children, I guess I'll just have to buy more axes!

Tractor with cab, keep the heat in and also nobody will embarrass you for listening to stars on 45 8track tapes so long as you keep the windows closed! 😃 lol. That is a powerful little machine, I way under estimated it's lifting and towing capabilities. I'm well impressed with that Yanmar. Would a log that size put the tractor on it's limits? Your a good operator Cody, nice and easy no quick unnecessary movements to put you in danger. Nice job man ☺

and by the way I love my old 1946 ford 8n tractor!! its only 2wd but I have no problem plowing snow with it, and it gives me the fizz every time I drive it, it really says something when a tractor from the 40's is still running like a dream and working. Ford also made a heated seat mod and cab mod you could add on down the road, they are pretty neat! There are still lots of 8N/9N guys around

cody, I know this worked for you but loaders are not designed to be pulled on like that. take the brush hog off and pull with your drawbar. you will put way less stress on your tractor and it is generally safer.

Hi Cody. When I was a kid in the 60s and spending my summers on a ranch we used a car hood for the same type of work. The differences were that we had a couple of hoods from the 30s and the 40s. The shape was perfect. Also I never heard them called hoods. The were always referred to as a "stone boats". Great narration as always. BTW I've done some horse logging. I stick to diesel powered machines now a days.

Neat trick with the hood. When I used to cut brush we just picked the trees out of the ditch with an excavator so digging in wasn't a problem 🤣🤣🤣. Though you will learn the correct way to put a slip in a chain quick if you happen to be the dork in the ditch!

4x4 and a cab are amazing for sure. That being said, 2wheel isn't useless. My grandfather made his living in Iowa as a farmer and he did "most" of his work using old Oliver tractors. And it gets cold/windy/snowy in Iowa! He was SUPER excited with the first White tractor he bought though that had duel rears and a cab lol.

Love the cj hood skidd, another tip if someone is trying to roll a log or just about anything else is placement and direction of the chain or cables choke, if the choke is not set correctly then it will not sinch tight and not that you were doing it wrong but another tip , when lifting something like a log with a grapple or a bucket full of sand or stone especially on a hill the higher it is lifted the more unstable and prone to a rollover the machine becomes
