@SwSpeed could you tell any difference in spool or throttle response when you added the headers?
@SWSpeedCo9 ай бұрын
I added it at the same time as the big turbo so there was no real comparison. I'm sure there is a noticeable difference from stock though. My blouch 1.5xtr is at full boost at 4k rpm where stock hits full boost at 3500 rpms.

@SwspeedCo everything cool man? Haven’t seen any new videos, hope all is well. Using your upgrades as a blueprint for my build debating if bro get these headers.

Yeah everything is good, I've been trying to start a 3d printed automotive parts business so I've just been really busy working on that, I am going to be uploading more videos shortly. I've filmed alot of stuff just haven't had time to edit and upload it. Headers are definitely worth it especially if you plan on upgrading your turbo. Thanks for checking up!

@@SWSpeedCo that 3d parts would be awesome. Happy to hear you are good man. Looking forward to your upcoming videos I know they are time consuming so I will be patient 😁. Can you post an exhaust clip or driven by?

Very nice. I'll be doing this on the same set of headers this weekend. I was wondering how you knew the length to cut your wrap pieces.
@SWSpeedCo2 жыл бұрын
I just made a loop with my hand and move it down the pipe accounting for overlap. Then I folded the loop however many times I counted and then added like 5 extra loops.
@stevenjenson50482 жыл бұрын
Awesome. Thanks! I was going full-on engineer and trying to calculate circumference times length divided by width of strap, plus overlap, etc... your method is way better!

I would get a ceramic coating if any oil leaks start and drip in it while it’s wrapped it will basically become an oil soaked rag and will self ignite and start a fire.
@SWSpeedCo2 жыл бұрын
There may be some truth to that. I had got some oil on the previous set of headers and it smoked really bad for a minute but it never ignited. It's also important to make sure that you don't have oil leaks in general. But the surface temperature of the wrap only gets about as hot as the block so it would probably just smoke away all the oil before it would ignite.
@ethanflores74912 жыл бұрын
Either way they are some nice looking headers. If you need some more exhaust wrap I have some that are brand new still in the plastic that came with my tomei downpipe
@SWSpeedCo2 жыл бұрын
I ended up using DEI because the tomei stuff I got seemed kinda cheap. Also the material you can hold a blow torch to it and it doesn't ignite it just glows orange. I assume if you get oil on it, it would act the same way as I'd you got oil on a bare header

@@SWSpeedCo I’ve never wrapped my headers just for the chance of a fire. Also if you drain your coolant from the water pump housing it’ll get all over your headers. I know from experience. They burned off the coolant but if there wrapped they will possibly get stained from the coolant when it soaks it in. Either way it’s just my opinion and I like your vids so I’m not gonna hate
@SWSpeedCo2 жыл бұрын
I've gotten coolant on my up pipe before too and had to re wrap it because of it. It's definitely more of a hassle to work around it but to each his own

So i have headers for my 86. Hear people day not to use wrap because of rusting and fire hazards. How was your experience with your headers?
@SWSpeedCo6 ай бұрын
I personally have not had issues with either. If you have oil leaking onto your header is going to be just as much of a fire hazard with or without wrap. As far as the rust statements, I don't drive my car in the rain or snow so it's not getting wet. If you have a belly pan that covers your header you probably don't need to worry about it getting wet too much unless you are submerging it in water. Also it should burn off any moisture before it becomes a rusting issue since it is a very hot part of the car. Hope that helps

I have a question, is it necessary to wrap a uel header if the car is stock? I have 165bhp, about to take my stock header off and put on the uel.
@SWSpeedCo10 ай бұрын
It's not absolutely necessary and you won't gain any power from it but you engine will run better and be happier with less radiant heat in the engine bay
@Subieej2010 ай бұрын
@@SWSpeedCo thanks, yh thats what i was thinking as long as i don't push the car everywhere it should be fine and not overheat, also because the header is catless I heard i need to use some o2 emulator for the second sensor? How effective are they?
@SWSpeedCo10 ай бұрын
I have never used them personally, I just disable the cel in ecuflash. From what I have heard they work but I don't have first hand experience. If you still have the cated downpipe you may not need it.

how's the wrap after a year?
@SWSpeedCo9 ай бұрын
It's still holding up great. I scraped it on the ground once and it took a 1 inch chunk out of it and it didn't unravel so that's good.
