That seems too simplistic a way to frame it. That scene isn't really a god punishing Bradley (Truth isn't a god anyway but the subconscious of humanity as confirmed by the writer) but rather the reality of mortality and destiny catching up with King Bradley which makes sense thematically given how the direction of King Bradley's life was determined from the very beginning. If a theistic god truly wanted to punish King Bradley it would have been immoral of that god to wait to do it after Bradley had murdered and tortured untold millions. Same with how Bradley and all those children got experimented on (Bradley's cynicism towards the idea of a god is justified). No this is rather nature and reality, or rather Truth, catching up with the defiant Bradley. I find that fitting since Truth is closer to a deist figure than an outright theistic god. Besides Arakawa confirmed that Truth isn't a god but rather the subconscious of humanity. Truth reminds me of Spinoza's deist philosophy. And there are definitely Buddhist elements to FMA. Arakawa is a Buddhist from what I've heard. The sun does have roots in a Shinto God but that's more effective literary symbolism than proof of the existence of a theistic god in FMA and Shintoism isn't a uniform belief system anyway. It diverges quite a bit depending on the follower.

Arakawa confirmed Truth isn't a god but the subconscious of humanity which is a more interesting idea than the straightforward notion of god. But I can understand why people call Truth a god. But Truth seems rather detached and impersonal so he's closer to a deistic figure than a traditional theist one. He's closer to Spinoza's idea of god.

This speech is downright one for the books as one of the most savage anime villian monologues of all time and out of 50+ plus anime I've watched in whether sub or dub or a matter of both, this speech and the VA who did Bradley's voice is phenomenal. Production of Dub in this anime is 100/10 and it deserves the top 10 places of best dubbed anime like DBZ, Naruto, Black Lagoon, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Code Geass and Attack on Titan to name a few. Excellent dubbing production.

ahh a message i wish more could understand. for all that people believe in one, it never seems to show and even what ways the claim its shown itself often AT BEST are nothing more than mere coincidences that they attribute to one to comfort themselves that they didnt waste all their time and effort in prayer for someone else to fix their problems... until you have concrete empirical evidence to say that at least SOMETHING is there, you shouldnt even begin to waste your time on something so frivolous as prayer to fix your own damn problems...

I believe that if it exists a SENTIENT GOD, just like we love to imagine, he doesn't care about us, he is alive for too long to get enraged or sad or disgusted at us, just like when we look at ants, we look as they were nothing, tiny useless pieces of existence

I stand by my opinion that anything is possible, so I believe some form of deity likely does exist, whether that's the Christian God, the Greek pantheon, or any other. No matter who it is though, I have no respect for them. In their names, countless people have killed and been killed. Countless people have let others and themselves fall into misfortune and pain, saying, "God will provide." I don't hate religion, it helps many people just get through their daily lives. I do hate gods though

It feels like religion are chains holding back civilizations progress. An illogical concept that would not otherwise be humored in this day and age. There are people who cling to religion because they need to bow to something higher then them, or want to believe their actions matter, or that death is not the end we fear. But in the end the only way to crush these feelings is to break free from its false burdens and face reality. Ah but don’t mind me just a passing ex-Christian speaking nonsense.

It's not surprising if you look thought the series you will see lots of social & political commentary & nods to real life history (For example notice how they mention people from Amestris have blond hair & blue eyes Much like Hitlers vision of his super human race. They even call Bradley Führer just like Hitler. Then there's the comparison of Ishval (or Ishbal depending on the version of the story) to the middle east & Islamic culture. Furthermore there's Judao Christian themes with the Names of the Homunculus (Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, Greed, Sloth and Pride) named after the 7 deadly sins. Even Fathers plan on sacrificing the world to obtain all knowledge of everything & becoming the perfect being since he believed knowledge is power. Even the rules & principles of alchemy (equivalent exchange) is commentary on fair trade & what is the value of life.

Don’t have to as the series dealt with that. 1) Bradley is the VILLAN! 2) Scar (an isbalian) took him up on that killing part by quite literally killing him with his own hands! 3) Truth is also sometimes called God and exist in the same story
@Dragonking19848 ай бұрын
@@leodouskyron5671Bradley is seen as a villein to those who's morality is swayed by religion. His arguments are hard pressed to debate logically. Scar's actions while literally doing what Bradley told the Isbalians to do is condemned thought the series by the rest of his people. He's not the hero bringing justice to his people. From their perspective he's just as much a villein. Even Scar does not see himself as anything more then vengeful retribution. Something considered sinful in most if not all religious ideology. While Truth does say it's sometimes called "god" it also says that is but 1 of many names it's addressed as. Others see it differently & so it has no definitive name.

fact is that villains are created by society due to circumstances then gets blamed when a "villain" finally acts. take pain/nagato for instance. the leaf called him a villain for acting on a world of hatred while the leaf was preaching about peace, but in reality, they are part of the problem due to their manipulation. It's not about idolizing a villain, but to actually understand them and see where they are coming from when they are trying to give you a reasonable perspective. Heroes are called heroes due to their moral code and wanting to protect the innocent, while villains or anti-heroes are called villains or evil due to their own way on the means of justification or beliefs that does not serve society. In this case, if you look at human society, people will always use religion to gain power or to put others beneath them to either "inspire fear and promote order." What Bradley is saying is this, quit relying on your god to dispense justice because he hasn't been there for people who needed him, in order for you to survive and dispense justice you have to take action instead of relying on a deity that may never come to you aid.
