Wrathion has been aiming to become the new black dragon aspect for a while but now with the return of Sabellian things are starting to heat up. At the moment both of them are fighting for the black dragonflight throne and we are playing a role in deciding what is going to happen.
So has the actual right, the birthright to become the new Neltharion. On one side we have a really experienced black dragon that claims to have been cleansed on the other we have a whelp that we know was cleansed. So who is going to become the new black dragonflight aspect Wrathion or Sabellian?

The one point that no one ever brings up which annoys me is that Sabellian spend his years on outland actively rebuilding his flight. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't have any eggs/new black dragons!

exactly! without Sabellian it would just be Ebonhorn and Wrathion. also without him the Ruby oathstone couldn't be renewed. Assuming he can prove he is not corrupted Sabellian should be the new leader without question. a counterpoint to the video saying he didnt help against the legion or anything. he was on outland, theres no way he would have known what was happening on azeroth, the only reason he knew the dragon isles were back is because every single dragon across the cosmos felt it's pull, this includes Sabellian's brood in outland and Ysera in a literal different dimension.

How was Sabellion supposed to get back in time to help with Legion? By the time we go to Outlands for Artifact quests, Outlands is already facing increased Legion forces.

Tricky question : Both Sabellian and Wrathion have a big sense of responsibilities, the first due to him having to guide the few remaining members of his kind throught the years, the other for believing so long he's the last one left and trying to shoulder all the duty his father failed at. Sabellian has more experience but Wrathion is already as powerful as him (if not more) despite his young age. Wrathion caused a big catastrophe by trying to prevent it, while Sabellian isolated himself and his followers completely while all the story we know of happened. In short : Wrathion feels responsibility in accomplishing the aspect of Earth's duty, while Sabellian feels responsibility only in leading his dragon flight, and doesn't care about other flights or the rest of the world. And both of them have terrible Ego issues so they're constantly on edge towards each-other. None are an ideal choice, one too focused on aspect duty and the other too little... One, despite his old age completely lacks the wisdom required to be EarthWarder while the other is prone to make mistakes due to it's youth. I'd feel someone like Ebyssian would fill the role much better : he's humble, experienced AND wise but also has enough power to take action when needed (though he's far from the equal of the other two in this regard). But he's a complete "unkown" to everyone apart from Wrathion, so I doubt they'll even consider it. But if I had to choose between Sabellian and Wrathion... It'd be Wrathion. He lacks experience, but experience is something he'll acquire by living long enough, while on the other side Sabellian, despite having so much experience... Did absolutely nothing to defend Azeroth, NOTHING. The world faced catastrophic odds multiple times and he didn't even show up since we last saw him in BC. Wrathion is less than a decade old, yet he did more to try and protect his homeworld than Sabellian ever did in his centuries-long life. He clearly doesn't care about the world itself, which is a critical quality for the Earth-Warder to have ! So Sabellian is a true no-go for me.

in defense of sabellian not returning to Azeroth sooner....would he really risk falling t the corruption of the old gods after managing to freeing them? if anything the defeat of N'zoth was the turning point that allowed them to return. Had they returned sooner it is likely the old godds would have gotten a whole bunch of new black dragons.

I'm reminded of an old saying " great men do not seek power , but tend to have power thrust upon them" . With this in mind I'm going to lean toward Ebonhorn , Sabellian and Wrathion have the same weakness , Ego , and like any weakness it will be twisted and used . Ebonhorn on multiple occasions has shown his humility and benevolence toward all the races and may be forced by the other aspects to take the helm of the Black Dragonflight. If this becomes the path Blizz follows then it will also add content to the game by allowing either Sabellian or Wrathion to become ego driven for future expansions , my guess would be Sabellian , Wrathion has too close of ties to Ebonhorn which can be used to keep him in check.

Sabellians "ego" comes from real work though and Wrathions comes out of his arse. Not seeking power by itself doesn't make someone great. Ebonhorn would be a weak leader, Sabellian has already proven himself as a leader.

@@ranchmang Ebonhorn would be a better choice in the end though. Sabellian may be more experienced, but when it came to the oathstone being repaired, how much effort did he actually put into that? None. When it came to the eggs actually being safe, why not just inform Wrathion of the actual plan involving them? I think Ebonhorn will be the main aspect, but like the Court of Harvesters of Revendredth will realize that placing every ounce of responsibility on his back will prove to be unwise. In short, I think Ebonhorn will share the responsibility with four others (Wrathion and Sabellian included).

Sabellian has the age and respect of the Black Dragonflight by actually leadnig them in Outland. Wrathion has hunted and killed his own kind, and is a kid, but he's protected Azeroth at several points (but also caused a lot of damage). Ebyssian has the age and good intentions down, but is practically unknown to the Black Dragonflitght. A lot of this favours Sabellian. And if the dragonflights are worried Sabellian is corrupted, then they can subject him to several tests, or force a purge with the hammer of Khaz'goroth, Sabellian won't like that his word is mistrusted, but it's not a surprise. However, there's no telling if it'd work, nor how well Sabellian would take the treatment.

We know nothing ahout Sabellian and it would be unresponsible to just put an unproven stranger in a possition of power, especially over one who has actually all ready proven themselves and actually done the job all ready.

Skipping the long-complicated details, Wrathion is still the rightful heir. Wrathion made all the tough choices, like a leader should, while also actually helping the factions fight the real enemy. And what has Sebellian done all this time? Hide in Blade's Edge? Contributed nothing to the last few wars. Most of all, Sebellian has "schemer" written all over him. You can sense the inevitable betrayal a mile away. Even in BC era, I had a hunch he was bad news. Mark it if you will, but would it surprise anyone when it happens?

Wrathions character has been built up over many years so I think he will be the aspect in the end. Sabellian will take leadership first but then has to die a heroic death. Wrathion will take over with Ebenhorn as his advisor. That would be totally boring but I think thats how it will be.

Wrathion earned it. He betrayed his kind to help us. His loyalty is without question and I trust his council. Plus, there's something about Sebellian that doesn't sit right with me. I have a gut feeling that we might see him in a raid at some point.

You know what you need to rebuild the black dragonflight? BABIES! Sabellian may of just showed up out of the blue, but he showed up with the ladies and their support. Even if he IS corrupted the only way we get the black dragonflight rebuilt is if new eggs are hatched and right now Sabellian has the stronger claim, the most experience, the cooler head, and the support of the females. He is CLEARLY more qualified for becoming the aspect than hot headed Wrathion who's smug ass has gotten us into more hot water than he has helped. Hell we still are not sure that he actually didn't save N'zoth with that damned dagger. Sabellian has my support! Vote Sabellian today!

I see alot of people showing support for Ebonhorn, but I think the reason he hasn't stood up to lay a claim might be the same reason why Senegos didn't try to lay a claim to the blue dragonflight. He might just be TOO old. Also the black dragonflight is supposed to be the more military inclined portion of dragonkind and Ebonhorn might be a little too soft spoken to take on leadership. Sure he's a great guy, would make an amazing advisor, and also a great diplomat for the flight. WE like him because he's likeable, but that is not what is important to be the Aspect of Earth.

You know what you also need? A dragonflight that isn't corrupted and who knows Sabellions intentions are he has been AFK for decades. Wrathion has his flaws but he is 100% transparent compared to Sabellion at least there is zero chance of him being corrupted. The default state of the black flight except Wrathion is corruption.

Wrathion has grown (he's still like a teen at most atleast age wise) but he is definitely Team Wrathion. Helping the other Dragon Flights helps with his goals but in the future he may not care if there isn't something in it for him. @@MsLola2013 Okay, correct me if I am wrong at any point. He caused WoD by sending Garrosh to alternate Draenor, which caused the Iron Horde to invade. When we finally cleaned up his mess, Legion kicks off because an alternate Gul'dan is made in said alternate Draenor, who is sent to Azeroth by Archimonde. During the intro to that invasion, We lose Varian and Vol'jin. Vol'jin makes Sylvannas leader of the horde because a loa told him to. BfA happens after legion, and now that Sylvannas is the warchief she needs a reason to kill as many people as possible, and would you look at that there is a new resource that was found because of the events of legion that Wrathion started and never helped with. BfA spirals into SL. Now, you might be thinking "Ah, but those last three events could have happened another way" And yes, you are most certainly right. However, they DIDN'T. All those happened because Wrathion chose to "help". Well, I sincerely hope he doesn't help ever again.

It will end with Sabellian falling to the old god's because he never cleansed his flight truly. They just silenced them by being too far away and now thought it's save to return because nzoth is gone. But then yogg saron rears his head, Sabellian and all of his dragons fall. But luckily they brought eggs with them we can cleanse with the hammer of kazgaroth and adding another protection to them because wrathion who is immune against the whispers becomes their aspect.

I think Ebonhorn's a better choice. He's more personable and he's not pushed to be Aspect like the others. Besides, it'd be nice to have an Aspect who's visage is one of the Horde races. That his is of a Tauren's pretty telling because aside from the Grimtotems, there's really no evil Tauren.

Sabellion sat out everything until he thought he could grab power and is likely corrupted in spite of his claims. Blizzard will have him take over and corrupt the rest of the black dragons except for Wrathion and killing him and his lieutenants will be a raid.

Wrathion has potential, has shown loyalty to Azeroth and his flight's charge, and was never corrupted. Sabellian supposedly cleansed his corruption, I guess we just have to take his word for it. If true, he still only freed himself from the old gods grip by being out of reach. It doesn't necessarily make him immune to being corrupted again. Didn't Wrathion do something to make him immune, or at least far more resilient to old god corruption? Personally, I think Wrathion should lead and Sabellian should be his 2nd.

Wrathion is immune because we, the player character, forged him from a black dragon egg of Deathwings daughter, a bunch of dead black dragon whelps and a Titan artifact back in cataclysm.

And now, thanks to the cloak, we were able to defeat Nzoth, and the black dragons of Sabellian were able to return to Azeroth and not be afraid to be corrupted.

Sabellian is the right one, since unlike Wrathion he didn't give us WoD and even tho Legions was good in may ways, BFA and Shadowlands, giving us Shadowlands is a crime punishable by death! So I think blizzard odd to give Sabelion the Lead and make Wrathion be his own faction, since as the dargons under Sabelion kept reminding, under wrathion's guidance we killed a lot of black dragons instead of looking for ways to cure them, like the reds did to Wrathion's egg. Also Sabelion feels like how the earth Warder odd to be, calm and calculating not wrash and impulsive! Wrathion might be a good leader in a few hundred years but not now for sure.

Sabelion is the true son of Neltharion, has experience leading black dragons ( not killing them), did not start the events that led to the death of Varian and Voljin, did not start the events which led to Sargeras stabbing the world(great job protecting the world by the way Wrathion), is far older and more mature as seen in the questing, and unlike Wrathion AND Ebonhorn, will put the needs of the black dragonflight FIRST, which given how low their population is, is what I want for their leader. So yeah, skin the whelp, make a cloak out of his hide and put the true son of Deathwing in charge.

6:45 - key distinction, Wrathion was not and is not on ‘our side’. His first and only goal is to protect Azeroth. If that meant slaughtering every Azerothian then that’s exactly what he would do (cough cough WoD). Yes, he has been unwise, past and perhaps future, but I certainly trust him to do what is right by Azeroth a hell of a lot more than Sabellian. That said, Ebonhorn FTW!?

How is this a choice? To be an earth warden, you have to at least give a F to Azeroth, not hiding somewhere distant forever only to return when a throne appears. Sabellion is nowhere near qualified, go make him the Warden of Nursery or something.

I think Dorons downplayed the "save from extinction" part of his description of Sabellian. He literally : - Crush the ogre and gronn of the zone. - Took care of dragons whelps, possibly 6 or more, a difficult task according to the matriarch in the Obsidium Throne. Can you all imagine Sabellian as a nurse ? - Teach them enough to make them worthy of their futur role in the Black Dragonflight. (I mean they are no savage.) - Teach them how to fight ogre/gronn, and let's be real, giant-like creature are one of the only threat to Dragonkind and that put Djaradin in trouble. In the end, its a choice between a leader with good deeds, kinda, (W) and the one with enough logistic and knowledge (S) to back up his claim. About the pressure describe by Vazallia or Evorian on them and the fact that W is a welcome change of pace compare to the strict manner of S, I think that once the entire dragonflight is up and running, I mean 80 - 100 Dragons, the pressure will go down.

They're both not so great choices. Sabellian might have more experience but he did absolutely nothing after Burning Crusade. Grant it, staying as far away from the Old gods as possible and laying low until most of them are a past tense is one of the smartest things he could have done. (Because every time a black dragon attacks any of us, we end up turning them into a set of mail gear.) Wrathion on the other hand, did try helping Azeroth but a lot of the major disasters that happened, from Warlords, Legion and one of the key events leading to Battle for Azeroth was because of his actions. Both are going after the throne in self entitlement their behavior kind of urks me. But we still got Ebonhorn, worst case scenario. That dude is a complete bro.

Sabellian didn't do nothing since TBC. It's clearly stated that he consolidated control of the Blades Edge Mountains and has spent the subsequent time rebuilding and restoring his flight while finding ways to combat and overcome their corruption. Providing he even knew about the events of WoTLK, the black dragons were in no place to help, CATA probably would have resulted in them falling to corruption/getting killed as the Black Dragons were tge antagonists. MOP was a faction war, WoD the Dark Portal didn't work. With the exception of the green dragonflight, the other flights didn't do much in Legion either, BFA was a faction war, and Shadowlands would have required the black dragons to commit seppaku. They had no homeland to come back to on Azeroth (until Dragonflight), and as a result were more focused on preserving what they had, dealing with the legion and subsequent threats on Outland. TL;DR They haven't had the opportunity, awareness or motivation to help and have had more personally important things to do beyond saving Azeroth (like saving themselves from corruption and extinction).

Excuse me, fought the Legion? He was nowhere in Legion except for the Chromie scenario. He helped inadvertently start the invasion he feared and then did nothing to help us against it. Now between the two choices, the thing to consider is that Wrathion's main support base is the his mortal Blacktalon servants, where as Sabellian's main support base is fellow black dragons. So if its a flight choice, then its going to be Sabellian, I'm personally voting for Sabellian between the two because I prefer Sabellian's sense of duty towards over Wrathion's talk of it being his destiny. Though I['m honestly expecting Ebyssian to become Aspect and I 100% support it.

Sabellion will end up falling to corruption and being a Raid boss, Wrathian will choose to spare him to try and actually purge the corruption completing his arc that not all of the B dragons need to be purged. Sabellion will be his advisor.

I needed to correct this in regards to Wrathion's age. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens. The Dragon Isles loading screen implies that Wrathion will end up as the new Black Dragon Aspect despite the fact that he's only about 12 years old in real time. That would make him a baby by dragon standards. It would be understandable to have to be at least 1,000 years old to qualify for the position of Dragon Aspect. The same way you have to be at least 35 years old to run for President of the U.S.. Wrathion would not be old enough to drive a car in this country for at least another four years (or two more expansions), and he is supposed to be given the power, authority, and titles of Black Dragon Aspect, Earth-Warder, and Leader of the Black/Obsidian Dragonflight? Sabellian has age and experience on his side but he should be willing to submit to testing by one or more priests of the Light to confirm that he is free of the corruption of the Old Gods. Alexstrasza and Ysera could also potentially use their powers to confirm Sabellian is not being controlled by the forces of the Void. It also goes in Sabellian's favor that he was trying to preserve as much of the Black Dragonflight as he could where Wrathion only focused on killing other black dragons rather than trying to cure them. Personally I hope that Ebyssian becomes the new Earth-Warder and Black Dragon Aspect. He can rightfully claim to be the oldest uncorrupted black dragon and he worked to help guide and protect the Highmountain Tauren Tribes for almost the entire 10,000 years of his existence. He also helped repel the Burning Legion Invasion in the Highmountain Region of the Broken Isles and reclaim the Hammer of Khaz'goroth from Dargrul the Underking. I could imagine the scenario playing out where Wrathion and Sabellian are both standing before the Obsidian Oathstone each making the case why they should become the new Black Dragon Aspect. Ebyssian would be standing off to the side willing to let his two younger relatives argue the matter between them. The oathstone suddenly flares to life and shoots out a beam of energy that strikes directly at Ebyssian. The long-lived black dragon roars in pain and collapses only to wake up an hour or so later surrounded by his two younger relatives and the other four Aspects. Ebyssian is still feeling the remnants of a headache but feels more powerful than he ever has in his life and his eyes are glowing with white and blackish color. He asks what happened and the Dragonqueen responds, "Your relatives wanted Khaz'goroth to choose a new Black Dragon Aspect and the Titan Smith made his choice." "So who was chosen then?" replies Ebyssian. Everyone simply keeps looking at Ebyssian with particular expressions on their faces. The expressions of Wrathion and Sabellian look somewhat sour compared to everyone else. The realization then dawns on Ebyssian that he has become the new Earth-Warder and Black Dragon Aspect despite never seeking or desiring that status for himself. Ebyssian still pledges to do everything in his power to live up to the responsibilities of his new powers and position. The new Earth-Warder vows to make the Black Dragonflight a force for good in the world and fulfill their role to help protect Azeroth and its people. Wrathion and Sabellian still feel slighted at neither having been chosen as the new Aspect but agree to work with Ebyssian to redeem their flight and its reputation.

If ebonhorn is an option, I do think he would be the best possible choice. But between Sab and Wrath, I think Wrathion is more deserving of it. Sure he lacks experience, what with being basically a whelp, but he will earn that with time. He has proven he will do whatever is needed to protect Azeroth, and I honestly think that attitude could be much needed in the Aspects. The others are much more calm and passive, with the exception of maybe Kalecgos being the newer aspect. I also think its worth nothing, that with Wrathions attitude, its safe to say if he doesn't become aspect, he will just fuck off somewhere and basically ignore whatever we have to go through, only showing up at the end to be all like "See, you did need my help after all"

@@cujoedaman I have two sides to my body. Just because the Blacks aren't directly opposing each other, they still are the left/right wings of the Black dragon flight. This is more of an actual democratic election than we usually get in the monarchy/theocracies we get in WoW. It's still two political sides. Wrathion was never named heir by anyone in the Black dragonflight. Sabellion has a brood of Black children only alive and cleansed because of him and was named Heir by Neltharion while his father wasn't crazy yet. Wrathion spent years killing his relatives and Sabellion saved them (while Ebonhord had a working cure and didn't even bring it out after Deathwing was killed (Ebonhorn had 2 expansions worth of time to go cleanse some black dragons. Sabellion should be Aspect but Blizzard spent so much time on Wrathion, that it's pretty clear Sabellion will get corrupted and we kill him/Wrathion cleanses him enough that Sabellion impales himself on Wyrmrest temple (to parralel hour of twilight and show we're now in the better version of events)

A minor but important lore tidbit everyone forgets is the embrace. It happens every 430 years. No dragon can become a true aspect until the next one happens and the last embrace was during Cataclysm.

I think seb and the other dragons is still corrupted acting as agents of the old gods but don't know it, waiting to strike at the other dragonflight too weaken them for a easy return. Leader of the bronze dragonflight knows he is near his end. Maybe leaving majority of the dragons dead an after our help they cant afford to leave the isle since they must rebuild when the old gods pack releases.

Now, how about any thoughts on the theory that the Infinite Flight will throw a wrench into everything by bringing back the precorrupted Neltharion into our timeline? I think it is important to differentiate between leader of Black dragon, Black dragon aspect, and the Earth warden. Sabellian would make a great leader for the black dragon. Deathwing have, arguably serve as Black dragon aspect just fine right to the end, either of them will do. Wrathion is more worthy as the Earth warden, as he seems to have genuine interest in defense of Azeroth.

I think Wrathion odd to remain his own faction, he already has an army of loyal fallowers, some might say fanatical fallowers, and at the moment he, even tho he is trying to do the right thing, is too rash, he's like a piece of Ion yet to become steel, would you choose a well crafted steel sword or a blunt iron one, Sabelion is a lot more of a family man, which I think resonates more with the larger audience, Wrathion represents the impulsiveness of youth, as such althogh a youthful leader is desired, a more stable experienced one is always the right choice!

Nearly every black dragon still alive and uncorrected is part of Sabellion's Flight so logically if the flight chose it will be him. If somehow an e ternary force closes then I'm not sure the other black dragons will even follow Wrathion like how the blues refused to follow Kalygos at first.

i don't know why is this even a Question, Wrathion is the pro active leader who trys to do his job and cares for the world, the only thing he lacks is experience that comes with age and as we know dragons Live for a very very long time, and picking an aspect is a one job that you can't quit until you die, Wrathion as a Leader is the only logical choice you pick him he starts not so good but being pro active he learns fast and haves other old dragons to teach him if needed the longer time goes the more he knows while being a pro active leader. while Sabellian is inactive he sleeps and does nothing at all, you get an inactive leader who skips major events, sure he haves experience but he his very inactive he skips major events that if any of those events would have go through azeroth would be gone, and Sabellian is an old dog and you know what they say you can't teach new tricks to old dogs, so he most likely will skip major events finding excuses or just sleeping through them, plus come on he his arrogant too and plays games with Wrathion where he keeps wrathion in the dark making him think that the eggs are lost to make himself feel superior, come now you know thats not a good sign. best scenario is Wrathion aspect of black dragons and Sabellian teaches Wrathion from his experience, but overall Wrathion would learn either way by just keep living

Most of these fantasy stories/games are based around medieval history. And if we try to stay true to historical influences, all arrangements and deals made by rulers become null and void once their oaths are broken. Those actions are passed along to their offspring -- and this was already hinted by Alexstrazsa, who didn't want to become embroiled in the sibling squabbles. Ebonhorn would be a better flight leader. He has no ties of influence with Sabellian nor Wrathion, and seems more even-keeled to lead.

Sebellion is an unknown but also didn't exactly protect Azeroth in its greatest time of need, he only decided to return to claim his father's throne that's an act worthy of questioning, its also not known if he is still corruptand. If a black dragon aspect would be chosen and deemed worthy to lead their flight, they should do so by merit and have an overall consensus from the four other aspects. They can either test them, or observe their actions starting from the past all the way up to the current day. I admit Wrathion I smy personal favorite, we saw his actions have led to from the MoP, to WoD, to Legion, and more so in BfA; but we also witnessed his development from his aggressive, reckless actions of a whelping are becoming tamed with experience and guidance from his new brethren Ebonhorn included. Sabellian is a little bit more unknown, besides from his actions in Outland claimed by the dragonoids at their home base in the isles. But there isn't much to be said if there is nothing to be shown for it. He may helped secure some eggs and is firm with his actions, but what is he up to really?

Sabellian seems to have been content with staying forever in Outlands and ruling his flight from there, we know he has been Deathwings righthand dragon for a long time. I think he only came back to get the power, weather or not he is cleansed (or fall immediately back under) he isn't there for the Black oath of protecting Azeroth, otherwise he would have come back sooner, or if he was able to remove the taint he should have sought out the rest of his flight to clean them, but he didn't. He has the experience, but the lingering taint of Deathwing. Wrathion we know with out a doubt is clean, but so very young. He has done all he can to live up to the Black Oath, with some disastrous results. He is someone we know and can trust, but doesn't have real world experience.

I don't know the lore or maybe it's not fleshed out yet in regards to being anointed an aspect or whatever but if it's not some kind of special power but more a ceremonial thing then maybe it can be like a council situation.

I need someone to correct me if I am wrong since it has been a while. But wasn't it established that Wrathion is immune to the old god corruption, not just free of it? Sabellian and Ebonhorn are free but are they immune? We know Wrathion can't be corrupted but I am not so sure if the other black dragons who are potential candidates for the role of Aspect can't be corrupted again. I would say to avoid another deathwing situation because we can never be free of the old gods aspect should by default go to Wrathion despite all the negative sides to his leadership. He can grow and learn.

one thing that I would love to know is, how did Sabellian actualy come back from outland, considering the portal has not been active for ages, so wtf did he do in outland to open the gate to get back, becuse i am pretty sure he just can not warp to azeroth without the gate.

Optimal choice would be Ebonhorn, since both have too much ego. Sabellian - Lived for centuries yet hasn't learned humility, and sometimes makes rash, prideful choice, just like for example when he foolishly thought he could kill Fyraak with just a spear. He's responsible, dilligent, and wise, but he kind of overshadows it with his pride and thirst for vengeance which blinds him. Wrathion is still young, He's dedicated to protecting Azeroth, which is the Aspects duty, and is quite creative in how he claims his victory. But he's brash, prideful, and sometimes dumb to be honest. But he can definitely mature and grow up. He has a room to grow, to be melded into greater aspect. But, for now, Ebonhorn is the most qualified leader, even though he might not want it.

"Freed himself"... anyone else think he faking it and is either full knowing of the old god's corruption within him, or, it's dormant and he's like some sleeper agent for the old gods and gets awaken by some buzz words like the freaking winter soldier or something... I say, Sabellian wins, then it turns out he evil, like, old god evil, not just a bad dude, and Wrathion literally swoops into save the day... sorry, potential spoiler... btw, I hate being right about this sort of thing, because it was predictable, I like the plot twists, like, meaningful plot twists, not like Grom is all of a sudden good again in WoD kind of plot twist...

@@edwardness7497 I think it's more likely that Sabellion is actually cleansed but going near one of the old gods will have him kill himself instead of let the whispers corrupt him, naming Wrathion his heir right before he impales himself on Wyrmrest temple/Equivilent on the Dragon Isles.

@@kyleellis1825 interesting, well, in the 'End Time' raid with Murazond, there was a dragon impaled on the temple, we assumed it was death wing, but he died in the Maelstrom, maybe it is Sabellian impaled instead, I can get behind this, well, whether he impales himself or is impaled after being defeated, or some other stroke, maybe one of the old gods killed him because he turned his back... I like when loose ends tie together...

@@edwardness7497 That's exactly what I was thinking. Tie in Deathwing's death from the Endtimes but have it be Sabellion actually resisting the whispers. Either he can take himself out on the tower to spare his flight or Yogg can shoot him out of the sky and make him land on it when he turns against Yogg. As much as I love Sabellion, No way Blizzard is giving him the Aspect of the blacks. The spent a decade on Wrathion's development and ignored SAbellion even longer. So I just want to make sure his demise is worthy of Neltharion's heir.

Also Sabellian's human model is just like, a normal looking human in normal looking armor. And his dragon form looks like literally every other black dragon. I feel like Blizzard didn't put any effort into Sabellian's design cause he's not gonna be that important in the end lol

Sabellion did an incredible job of leading his flight out of extinction while in Dreanor, in that circumstance he made for a great leader, which was no doubt why Neltharion had him as he second. But frankly Sabellion fits the role of support alongside Ebonhorn. Their Wisdom is what is needed to help shape Wrathion into the Aspect he desires to be. Because of Wrathion's lack of, and even refusal, of wisdom during his time in Pandaria. His actions caused a domino effect that not only caused the legion to arrive early, but caused so much death and pain which allowed an opening for Zovaal to make his attempt to dominate all life in the universe. A fact which has no doubt been weighing heavily on Wrathion. Which is likely why he has been seen being more proactive in battles to a point of putting his own life at risk. He has the most stake in proving himself after going through so much. All the more reason why Sabellion and Ebonhorn need to step up and help shape Wrathion into the greatest Aspect he can be. Perhaps in the process, Sabellion could get a little wiser as well.

Then Sabellion shoud go out in a blaze of glory Patch .2, so Wrathion can take over and finally have seen what a heroic Black dragon really looks like. Edit: as much as I prefer Sabellion, Blizzard ain't throwing out 10 years of Wrathion lore. Wrathion is obviously going to be in charge by the end of the expansion.

@Maljurok Some of the things you said are incorrect. The only 2 deaths in Legion that gave an opening to Zovaal are the death of Vol'jin since his passing is the reason why Sylvanas became the new warchief and the death of Argus which is the reason why the Arbiter broke. But if the legion invasion wouldn't have happened so soon the entire titan pantheon would have been turned into tools of destruction for Sargeras and the universe would have been doomed since there's no way we would have been able to get past the entire fallen titan pantheon to defeat Argus and bring an end to the burning crusade.

Both Wrathion and Sabellian have that something that let to Neltharion‘s downfall: Arrogance They both claim to have done this or that or to be the leader and that arrogance is the last thing the Black Dragonflight needs. So Ebyssian should be the next Aspect since he is not arrogant and well received from everyone.

A reminder that Wrathion didn't participate in the war against the Legion nor did he make any attempt to clean up his mess in WoD. He also wasn't looking to cure those afflicted with the old gods curse. He was sending assassins to kill them off until he was the only black dragon left. Yet now he wants to be their leader? I agree that Sabellian wasn't as active in Azeroth's conflicts but he clearly was doing more than just "chilling in outland". He is the only black dragon leader with actual black dragons backing him unlike Wrathion who has his zealous edgy rogue fan club.

Didn't Sabellian defend Azeroth too? Fending off the demons from Outlands until recently (which makes sense considering Illidan recently stomped them). He protected the dragons in Outlands so there would even be a Dragonflight left

Exactly. Sabellion should just name Wrathion his heir and then get corrupted by Yogg, turning him into the .1/.2 raid boss. Wrathion completes his arc and refuses to kill Sabellion, cleansing him instead and taking Sabellion/Ebonhorn as advisors.

This sabellion guy is full of corruption imo. The arakoa on outland were somehow being invaded by old gods and the only thing in retrospect associated with them were black dragons.

While i think Ebonhorn would be a good choice. I think Wrathion will be the aspect. Not only cause of the load screen. He is the only one that can fight the old gods uncorrupted. The other Black dragon leaders would be affected. Ebonhorn was stuck in highmountain and Sabellian was stuck in Outland. They could not do anything to defend Azeroth. Even though Wrathion screwed up with the Legion and he should apologise for it, he was there against the old gods. He was instrumental in defeating N'zoth.

I don't really see ebonhorn being the aspect mainly because I think he's just more happy being a tauren and the black dragonflight doesn't have the luxury of being one of those touchy feely kinda like the reds or greens. It's been cutthroat and shady since it's inception so you have to be cutthroat and shady in order to run it.
