In this devlog you'll get to see how the new FLOWEY button and HYPE meter work! (We didn't show all of them though ›:D)
You'll also get a bit of insight into where the story is headed and what to expect from future battles with monsters.
Each kind of monster is only fought one time, and is usually woven into the story somehow. To make sure each monster is more impactful, we've given them each a special final coup de grace attack.
Between forming a team, actually figuring out how we should finish the engine, all the new mechanics, sprites, and dialogue, making this a reality has been one hell of a trip, but we're happy to get this to you and we're cooking up tons of stuff all over the chapter to show off in the future.
It's only a matter of time.

This is a custom coded 1.19 survival challenge. My friends and I try and beat the game TWICE AT ONCE. We coded a mod that makes it so everything we do on one Minecraft world, happens on another Minecraft world at the same time. We aren't switching between them, we have to control both at the same time!

This pretty much lines up with flowey in general given how he's done everything in the underground before you showed up assuming this is like number whatever hundred of genocide runs he's probably fed up with sitting on the sidelines commenting your progress so he's getting involved he wants a front row seat to your escapades of destruction but he doesn't just want a front row seat he wants to have a major role so thus since your not using your mercy option he gives you an arsenal of actions where he can contribute and it's also why the points for his actions is called a HYPE meter your literally doing things to get flowey hyped up and invested and feel like helping it feels ironic how your entertaining him in order to make your own battles more entertaining for you but personally I just love this despite how punchable flowey is he's such a devious little sh1t to essentially be like "hey I'm wanna see the good sh1t from the front row do the cool sh1t and maybe I'll give you an assist" its so damn funny the way he just does I don't know how to describe it it's just funny

Theres been a few comics, askblogs, or even fangames where chara is generally the voice of reason, but they've never been this... Normal and powerless. Which stands out even more when their attitude is bumped against the messed-upness that is the genocide route. It's a really unique spin on chara making them a child who actually does have very fond memories of the underground, and just being forced to watch it be destroyed right in front of them with nothing they can do about it. Given their original appearance being a very powerful existence and all. TLDR: Based game chara is peak would sell left lung to play this

You gotta remember this technically is their original existence- Chara is *heavily* implied to be the narrator as you go through the game, having their own comments and opinions rarely shown through certain flavor text. What we see of them is the end of the worst route, when you as the player have fed them a power they never wanted, at the cost of everyone they knew in life. This *is* Chara if only we could hear them before they decided to be your personal consequences and I am SO with you on the lung thing

okay this. this is tearing at my heartstrings. in so many ways. Chara seeing what flowey (or. asriel.) has become, the whole fight with that poor gyftrot, and then flowey assuming frisk/the player IS chara. All the horrible things the player does is CHARAS doing, like chara wanted to harm all these people, kill their own mother, etc. And only to have chara right there, listening to all of it. Not only has their brother become something unrecognizable, but he also thinks they genuinely would do such a horrible thing as a genocide. I'm looking a bit deep into it, but this all has to be an awful experience for chara.

It’s basically us seeing Chara’s change over time like in vanilla Undertale. So we aren’t getting complete silence, with Chara taking over by the end. Rather we see a continuous change. And I hope we get more Flowey Chara interactions throughout cuz his little talk to player/Chara in New Home was interesting.

I love how you’re putting serious thought into each individual monster, giving them unique final attacks. Basically just the average Undertale fangame but with every single monster. Flowey is slightly terrifying. The pacify spell has some seriously interesting implications. Obviously there’s the Ralsei connection, but it’s strange that Flowey has it. Unless it’s, like, a 1 hit K.O. spell (putting them to sleep… permanently) pacify seems like a merciful thing. Weird that he’d make it an option. That also implies there’s some kind of pacifist route. I’m seriously fascinated by this.

I absolutely LOVE this for the most part - the spritework and animation is amazing, the bullet patterns look fair but challenging, and the Flowey skills are really cool. The story is interesting as well, taking "Chara isn't evil" to a whole new level, and I love how you can check the enemies to learn their names and become more attached. But there are a couple small things I want to mention. I feel like the enemies should have their health nerfed a bit - from what I've heard, you only fight one of each enemy in this, so it makes sense they have more health than normal... but I feel like I saw each of their attacks at least 4 or 5 times, and I think it would feel a bit repetitive. That being said, I know the video was trying to showcase a lot of mechanics, so that may have made it feel longer than it actually is - so take this criticism with a grain of salt. More importantly though, while I LOVE the "Coup de grace" attack as the storepage put it, I feel like the enemy dying right after lessens the impact - the feeling that _you_ killed it. It feels like it turned to dust on it's own at that point. I'm not saying the entire battle menu has to come back, but the FIGHT button appearing and you having to press Z to deal the finishing blow would make it feel more like YOU are killing it and not just... it falls flat after fighting you for an additional minute. Despite those criticisms though, this is still one of the most exciting fangames I've seen, and I am "HYPED" for its release (hah). If at least the second issue was fixed I would be fully content... and even if it's not, I can still tell I'm gonna love it! Also, it seems there's no Pacifist route? That's really interesting, I haven't seen a (good) fangame do that really. I wondering if there will be a point where you can break away from that fate, and do some pacifism... don't tell me though ;)

Мне очень нравится флауи как персонаж потому постоянное взаимодействие с ним-это круто. В Uty я посмотрел нксколько он хорошо держит дружелюбную маску. А тут можно будет увидеть как вообще флауи действовал большую часть своих перезапусков до падения человека. Я - умеренный хардкорщик. И такие вот битвы если будут с каждым монстром мне на самом деле это понравится. Желаю удачи в разработке!

You get all the little things right. The portrait work and animations are amazing, the expressions are soo good!! The portrait appearing upside down when he’s talking to you. The final all out attack in an act of desperation. The beautiful illustrated background framed in the picture to fit with undertale’s style. The slick animations, the music. The visuals of this are gorgeous. It's super charming to me. Off the top of my head, the only other games that have given me that feeling are the newer Paper Mario games. Not that the aesthetics are the same obviously, but that sort of embracing of the art style and just playing into it feels very similar. Great work all around!

This is the first I'm seeing of this project, but already, it looks VERY promising. The art is stellar, and the gameplay feels faithful to the core of Undertale while building on it in interesting ways. More importantly, the characterization is phenomenal. Flowey is spot on in all his intricacies, and Chara feels incredibly fleshed out and humanized, in contrast to some fandom interpretations of them. I really think there's something special here, and I look forward to seeing it develop!

The sprites are wonderful and the animation is the best I've seen from a fangame in a long time. I personally am not a big fan of genocide stories as I feel they've been beat to death, but this one from the very limited viewing we've seen seems to be handling it a bit better than some others. I really hope to see more special check info for the rest of the “regular monsters” in the game like this. Having more insight on the denizens of the underground beyond a single short line of flavor text is really nice anywhere, but also gives all of these enemies so much more of a lively feel. Loving everything about it ^^

That "last stretch" is phenomenal! I wonder if every monster or at least boss will have something similar? that such a sick concept that really shows you how much a monster is willing to fight so they can live. was too lazy to reformat what i sent to my friend with the link to this video but here's what i think abt this game (i love it): "god this fangame is so good not released yet but the scenes that have been showed so far are REALLY well made i love how the game is like its less,, serious?? than what undertale would normally be, and it's even more humorous and shows a tad bit of deltaruneish humor as well, but it still retains its themes and also the characters seem to have an expanded vocabulary? the vocabulary seems a bit more philosophical at times, alluding to existing philosophical concepts but at the same time this fangame , as i said, has a bit of deltarune like humor and it feels a bit more fun instaed of dead serious the music also shows that as well very well made i'm looking forward to its release" your hard work into this game has really paid out and i'm looking forward to its release

I loved the project already but seeing Chara's characterization being so different and fresh from so many other takes on them really REALLY gets me more excited about the game. This one's definitely gonna be up there in my top 3 UT fan games, everything looks and sounds so cool, specially the fighting system, amazing work!

I love when chara said that Tinsel's name was Tinsel, the textbox then started saying Tinsel instead of Gyftrot (even though it still was saying gyftrot that when attacking)

Damn, this is looking pretty dang good so far, i must say. The animation is super well detailed too! I'm like the little detail of Chara not using contractions like Flowey does, its a neat way to differentiate their speech patterns in text.
