this is really dangerous move for the freestyle. If i do it for freestyle, i would do it differently, but using same concept in order to not be fully on my back.

Hi, I've heard one leg in is a Half-Stretcher ride, and both legs in which is popular in some other ground arts as a Stretcher Ride. Was wondering if you'd heard it called that as well? I've yet to check, but do you have any videos on basics for a navy ride and a ball & chain ride? Thanks!

a parallel high thigh ride is much more effective than a cross body, but requires a good techinique. The rider must maintain serious pressure with his thighs squeezing the rib cage as well as splitting with the off foot.

This Folkstyle wrestling video is over 12 years old, showing the counter to Single Leg Ride + Power Half. Top jiu-jitsu wrestlers have only recently discovered the SLR + PH combo. People are winning world championships with it, coz nobody knows how to defend against it. LoL

I don't coach my kids to ride parallel on a leg ride. The only time I have them throw a power half is on the same side of the leg when the opponent's hips are down to expose his back and keep him from turning in.

Tripod and forward roll and kick out like a mule when you come out. It should loosen things up and set a scramble.
@CoachMcCabe
@CoachMcCabe 13 жыл бұрын
the defensive wrestler's back has to break the plane of 90 degrees and be exposed to the mat, if he ends up on top of the offensive wrestler during the scramble, a good ref will not start counting nearfall...or shouldnt start counting nearfall. Not at least until the defensive wrestler's back is exposed directly to the mat.

Can someone explain the difference between a Power Half and a Three Quarter Nelson? is it positioning or another name for it? thanks
@KOLATCOM
@KOLATCOM 10 жыл бұрын
Power Half is from the top position when you have legs on your opponent. :49 sec into the video clip look at Obi's position this is a power half attempting to crank me over to my back. Three Quarters I have heard used in two different positions one from the top but not with legs in and the other from when defending a single leg. Too much for me to explain in writing but both are different from each other. Wrestling unlike Judo, BJJ, etc sometimes have names that overlap for different positions it can get confusing. But, this position that I'm defending is the power half position.
@Cyclonus5
@Cyclonus5 10 жыл бұрын
no I think I get it. It makes sense, I learned the 3/4 as just a half with the other hand clasped for leverage but your explanation makes sense. thanks so much, wonderful video, as always.

Okay, so I'm a 5'5 tall wrester. When I wrestle taller guys with long legs it's difficult for me to get out of legs. I have lost some matches due to someone putting in legs. It's probably the hardest thing for me to do. I haven't tried this but I will for sure. But if you have any advice please tell me. I need it.
