Another thing for push pull, you could also use their momentum when they're pushing to quickly drop down and throw their arm/head over you to shoot for a double or single.

I know how to do the moves that I learn in school and here I'm Abel to do them well enough but everytime I come to live wrestling I can't seem to do anything I know ,i kinda freeze up n basically forget everything I learned I don't understand why I'm not scared or anything I just choke .. What can I can I do ?? To try to fix this

Knowing how to do a move is only about 5% of what you need to be able to execute it in a live situation. Strength, speed, balance, conditioning, timing and mental toughness make up the other 95%. Everyday you should take time to visualize scoring and winning in practice and a real match this will train your mind to perform better and not shut down. You have to work hard to overcome this and you must consistently train with intensity in everything you do. When you are drilling your technique make sure your partner gives you good resistance and makes you work to finish every move. This will help you transition to live wrestling.

Hey Coach, I've been a little obsessed recently about watching the lead hand in all the tutorials I'm viewing recently after I saw a well known guy emphasize to "never collar tie with the lead hand". My take away after watching a bunch of film is that this isn't really an observed rule of thumb by a majority of people, including yourself in this video. Is there any merit to this "rule"? I'm thinking it should be "don't make first contact from a distance with your lead hand" if anything. Meaning, if you want to collar tie lead hand, make contact with a thumb block first or something along those lines.

Yes, reaching with your lead leg hand makes you very vulnerable. But if you crowd the opponent and make contact with your head and have the ability for a heavy collar tie meant to move your opponent - this is not reaching.

Also, a collar tie can be a block as well with your forearm blocking down across the collar bone.

First year wrestlers get destroyed dude. I first started as a freshman and sucked. Just don't give up and you'll get better each year.

Is there a move only a lightweight can achieve by going super fast?
@KOLATCOM
@KOLATCOM 8 жыл бұрын
Yes there are a lot of moves that require speed but setup and timing are just as more important. One example is a low single leg shot.
