Cool. In judo we call the throw sumi gaeshi. I use it all the time. Never thought of it as a defense against a single like this. Have always tried for uchi mata in the past but now I'll try SG.

I've just learned this from a different video where it was shown as a grappling technique for sweeping, and I thought it was cool. And when I asked my coach about it who was a wrestler, he said that it was an old wrestling move, and now I see it here. How cool is that. :)

Really effective detail to not go over the head but grab the cross lat then it seems like you sit to the other foot to throw them. It helps the rotation and avoids getting caught underneath.

hey cary, thanks for this GREAT move. I have tried it around 10 times in my matches and it worked 100%. I'm a sophomore and this is my first year wrestling. And u made it to state but I didn't win anything but I got two more years ahead of me. And I've been trying to get into legriding and I'm alright but I could get better. so if you can post any videos on legriding that would be great. thank you

Saw Chael Sonnen do this in a training clip, but great to hear the explanation to the counter off the single leg. Stuffing the head and then trying to stomp the foot down while prying the arms up can be really predictable. Getting points from this precarious position I didn't think was possible. sic videos for transitioning to mma wrestling

I have a question. Whenever I'm wrestling an opponent who is not extremely aggressive on my head, all my moves fall into place, I can set up ankle picks, doubles or whatever is open. But when I wrestle an extremely aggressive hand fighter I end up forgetting how to wrestle and I go straight into a defensive mindset. How could I control the pace and slow down my opponent in those situations?
