Uhhhh MAJOR correction to your video, Punk quit right after the incident. He wasn’t fired
@thedispatcher01
@thedispatcher01 Ай бұрын
@@kidkold7242 Perspectives. Punk told Tony he quit in the heat of the moment: " I didn’t punch anybody. I just choked somebody a little bit. Samoa Joe was there, told me to stop, and then I quit. I turned to Tony, and I said, ‘This place is a f-ing joke, man. You’re a clown, I quit.’" Asked whether he talked to Khan to officially say he was done, Punk said he did not, as they did not speak after All In. AEW filed the legal paperwork and released a statement: "All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has terminated the wrestler and employment agreements between Phillip Brooks (CM Punk) and AEW with cause, effective immediately," CM Punk can say he quit and was never going to work for Tony again, and that may be true, but it is also very accurate to say that he was terminated by his employer because in every legal sense he was. And it's not a MAJOR correction since it was only on the list as an honourable mention anyhow. Slight adjustment, at best. But again, in AEW's kayfabe, they did acknowledge on-air that they terminated Phil Brooks.

@@kidkold7242 Perspectives. CM Punk told Tony he quit in the heat of the moment, and then didn't have anymore contact with him. Meanwhile, AEW filed the paperwork and released a public statement. So Punk can say he quit and was never going to work for Tony again, and while that may be true, it is also true to say that Punk's employment was terminated by AEW because in every practical sense, it was. And not really a MAJOR correction, since it was only included as an 'honourable mention' anyhow. Slight adjustment, at best. @@thedispatcher01 You do under when someone, especially CM Punk says that they quit that it’s a done deal the moment the words leave his mouth right? It happened in WWE and it happened again in AEW. I will never understand you corporate shills who will say “um actually🤓” to try and act like tony had any sort of say so when it comes to a talent saying they are done, if he wouldn’t have immediately released Phil, Phil would have sat home and not answered a single phone call and considering that tony went out of his way to demonize Phil the way he did it’s more than apparent that tony was trying to save face.
@thedispatcher01
@thedispatcher01 Ай бұрын
@@kidkold7242 Hi. Don't be defensive, I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying it's a matter of perspective. Very few things in life are a done deal just cause things were said. That's playground talk. Lawyers and agents have different ideas. Terminating a contract has ramifications, and both parties are beholden to the various release conditions. "Terminated with cause" was the specific terminology which justified AEW not fulfilling the full contract without penalty. It may have been in Phil Brooks' best interest to take a modified severance rather than outright resign without compensation and also possibly being in breach of contract himself. I'm not actually privy to any of the specifics of his contract or his release so what the f do I know? I'm just thinking about it from a paperwork perspective. Read this part again: So Punk can say he quit and was never going to work for Tony again, and while that may be true, it is also true to say that Punk's employment was terminated by AEW because in every practical sense, it was. AEW acknowledged his termination on-air. Don't argue with me about that, argue with them, they're the ones sayin' it. Maybe Tony was trying to save face. "you corporate shills" I don't even watch AEW, I just keep up with the news. I'm here defending Tempest because I have more respect for him than you do. He's from Toronto and so am I, so piss off with your condescending baloney. "when someone, especially CM Punk says" - That's great. You're making me rethink this. What would Oli Davis say? Now, I'm torn. I mean, it is CM Punk we're talking about. Nobody is more of a straight-shooter than he is. If he said it...

Yes, Jeff told the story in a video here on YT, and they had owed him and put off paying him and he saw a chance to finally be paid what he was entitled to from prior work! He said he left his wrestling gear in his car and went into the arena and spoke with JR (who then spoke to Vince) and although they weren't happy with him he finally got his long-owed money (from the arena too, which owed the money to WWE but paid Jeff from that total because he feared a check from WWE would be cancelled).

Some of these were a bit of a stretch. I would hardly call Sasha and Naomi walking out being them "being fired". Same holds true for Sabu being the one leaving ECW for New Japan. There were a few more better examples that should have been included like Hogan 2000 and well... anything WCW 2000. I am also skeptical of the Feast or Fired ones claiming they did not know beforehand they were going to be fired... The wrestlers knew the stipulation beforehand. Did they think they were winning a championship briefcase instead?

Sasha isn't on the roster if Snoop isn't her cousin. Also noteworthy that this wasn't Sasha's first temper tantrum over having to lose the tag titles. She seems to feel she should never lose a match. The fact that Ronda's 2022 run wasn't that good is more of a hindsight thing because ANY promoter in 2022 is going to put Ronda over Sasha.

TBH Feast or Fired sounds like a good idea just poorly executed. For example make it an elimination match where the first one eliminated is "fired" (perfect write off for a wrestler needing time off for injuries to heal for example) and the winner winning a title shot.
@y2empleh
@y2empleh Ай бұрын
too many people in the feast or fired match for this to be a reality. The "shock" value is that one of the fired people is perceived to be a top tier talent capable of winning. Although given how much TNA loves multiple level matches, I am somewhat shocked they don't have the 4 winners compete in a match and then your idea can be a reality.

My biggest issues with Feast of Fired is the same issue I have with a lot of the TNA gimmicks, it's way too convoluted. I actually like the idea of "you want to challenge for my title, then put your career on the line" when done SPARINGLY. I actually wish all promotions would do gimmick matches to challenge for a midcard title. a 10 man Royal Rumble for a US or IC title shot or a ladder match for the opportunity to challenge for the tag belts. That is one thing that TNA did better than WWE even if the gimmicks were too complicated.

@@y2emplehI don't really get the convoluted part. But as long as A) those getting fired were actually in the know i.e. use it like when EC3 was leaving or to write someone off or anything other than with Chavo. Also maybe from a booking stand point more "older talent" former champs who haven't been in the title picture in a while. A few looking to kick start one last run. Granted pepper in some up an comers trying to jump start their careers for that risk reward factor. But look at the last few mitb winners. Drew was a waste, Theory cashed in for a midcard title and everyone cried it "ruined" mitb, Otis didn't do anything other than hold it, needlessly split up a tag team as well. Even when Bray went all anyone but you Roman.... half those examples don't happen with feast or fired. Hell anyone but Roman could be Seth or Dean if the only two boxes left are main championship and a pink slip. They don't want Roman's careee to end on a 50/50 so very reluctantly take him out of tge match for his own good. Either show he would have won the title case and instant tension or show there was a "mistake" and pink slip was already claimed and Dean and Seth were manipulated to take out Roman

weak shots fired at johnny l...some of these are stupid. figures from someone who thinks he is funny with the weak shots. naomi and sasha walked out of contracts, effectively quitting unlawfully. jr's firing storyline was because with jr's health, he wanted to spend more time at home with his family. i always love when ppl would rather take shots at people like vince or john over being honest in a video.

The fact that several EVPs did not immediately find themselves as janitorial staff with the occasional enhancement talent match or one Jungle Douche being fired rather than "suspended" showed everyone what an ineffective soy boy "leader" Tony Kahn was. Thank goodness Big (Daddy) $$$ makes up for lack of sense. 😅

People still acting like losing Sasha Banks and Naomi was a huge loss lol. Self-loving cow who demands ridiculous prices and mediocre wrestler who was given a chance with the belt and failed to do anything significant with it.

They had every right to leave too. Idk why fans were upset with them for leaving a terrible product. No one should have to job out to terrible wrestler like Ronda; who wasn’t willing to put in the work to get better.

I'm sorry but when it comes to the sasha banks situation you are saying WWE threw the hissy fit and not the woman who is paid to win or lose matches taking her ball and going home?
