This was informative. I didn't watch regularly during the "Ruthless Aggression" era, so I missed a lot of this. It does seem like Michaels did some terrific promos and got the feud over. I can't imagine too many 21st Century wrestlers being able to pull it off. It doesn't seem as though Michaels got heat from the office for his antics, as he was still used after the match. Perhaps the office was as disgusted with Hogan as Michaels was. One more thing I will say is that Michaels was better as a heel and cut better heel promos, so they were right to turn him; I don't think this feud would have held my interest as a babyface vs. babyface feud. If anything, it would have been cool to see if they were both heels and if Hogan could have been Hollywood Hogan against this version of Michaels.

Post 2002 HBK has had amazing matches with just about anybody, be it Shelton Benjamin or The Undertaker. Hulk cannot have a good match and protect his brand at the same time, and he always has his brand first. So the overselling was really a perfect answer to Hogan's non compliance. @@Ken9284 I'm just spitting facts. You listen to people like the Jim Cornette's who always bashed Shawn during his 90's era yet fail to point out all the people he put over during his 2002-2010 run. Kurt Angle, John Cena, Edge, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Batista, Miz, Mr. Kennedy, Chris Masters, Carlito, Chris Benoit, Undertaker....the list is long.

@@danthemancushecan The same could be said for Hogan during his second run in wwe. Also, Shawn didn't draw as much as Hogan did.

Shawn owning Hogan during the build and in the match was absolutely fantastic. HBK THE GOAT.

been waiting for this! ya i love how Shawn over sold everything just to prove a point to Hogan he isnt the man anymore lol

Hulk Hogan at age 100 would still be "the man" if prime HBK was his competition. Hogan's worst month in any year from 1984-1992 drew more than HBKS best 2 years combined.

It was maybe HBK’S best heel turn ever! He was so spot on it was fantastic. He completely killed it as a heel something I wasn’t sure he would still be able to do but oh boy was I happy to be wrong.

Was it childish? Yes. Was it unprofessional? Yes. Was it pure fuckin' gold? God, yes.

Hulk Hogan says with a straight face that he lost more matches than he won over the last 15 years like we don't have eyes or a memory. Whatever you say, brother.

I think someone said this on HBK's dvd but I feel it's TRUE, SummerSlam 05 wasn't one of HBK's best matches but it is one of Hogan's better matches.

HBK's Larry King segment was awesome though at the same time, Shawn was such a ham when he tore Hulk Hogan to shreds. Still a good main event!!

This program between the two has some of my favorite segments and I absolutely loved the SummerSlam match. If you like Hogan and his shtick then it just makes sense even with it being over the top, and if you hate Hogan then you can have a good laugh about how you know HBK was overselling like a mad man. A legendary match.

Stoked for today’s video. Just got my Wrestling Bios T-shirt yesterday and I’m looking to order more this week. Love the channel man! Thanks!

It's kinda funny that you talk about the story being covered to death. This is the first time I've heard it. I basically checked out of wrestling with the brand split. What I know about what happened after comes from watching Wrestling Bios.
