Hearing Bret genuinely talk about wrestling is better than most promos

Agreed. I grew up watching the cocaine-inducted promos of Hogan, Savage, Warrior, etc. where wrestlers just shouted for 30 seconds. And while I have some nostalgia for those, I'd much rather hear a promo where there's actually a message conveyed. Not simply "I'M COMING FOR YOU! RAAARRR!"

@@kidz4p509 For Bret, there was no "character". He was the Hitman, both in real-life & in the fictionalized world of pro wrestling. His beef with HBK felt real, because it was real, both on-screen & off. The only "character" Bret had was when he pretended to hate the United States (after all, technically, Canada IS still part of the continent of North AMERICA) at this time in 1997 whilst still wrestling for a United States-based promotion ran by a backstabbing hyena in Vince McMahon Jr. (after the latter took the business from his father [Vince McMahon Sr.] & subsequently killed the territory system, which included Hart family patriarch Stu Hart selling Stampede Wrestling to the McMahons upon retirement).

Thanks for this upload of Bret’s interview. I’ve heard bits of it but haven’t heard as much of it like I did today. I believe that the name Bret Hart is synonymous with the word legend. I remember his heel turn just around WM 13. My friend and I traveled from NY to Chicago for the event. I remember after the event, we saw Bret. I shook his hand and thanked him for the great match. Bret squeezed my hand-mind you, he had quite a strong handshake!-and he looked in my eyes almost in a pleading way. I was wondering if he was trying to tell me something yet he couldn’t. When I saw his official heel turn the following night on Raw, I thought, “I think that was what he was trying to tell me but he couldn’t.” It didn’t stop me from being a fan of Bret because somehow I had a feeling that he was taking orders from Vince. Bret has given me very priceless memories and I remain grateful to him for being who he is. He was truly a professional in the ring and he took what he did very seriously. He’s also an inspiration to me as well. 💖💖💖💖

Here, in 1997, all that stuff hadn't happened yet, since this interview predates both Summerslam (where Attitude Era kingpin Steve Austin gets a broken neck from a Sit-Out Tombstone by Owen) & of course, the infamous Survivor Series (where the Montreal Screwjob happens), not to mention that, Brian Pillman Sr. aside, the rest of the Hart Foundation are still very much alive at this point.

Bret’s logic for the iron man match makes total sense especially for a heel. He’s saying he had to pace himself similar to a boxing match so that if he gets pinfalls/knockouts as soon as possible he hasn’t emptied the tank for when he’ll still need energy to defend himself or go on the attack later in the hour Where as if it was a 60 min time limit match he could just go in as normal and when he exerts all his energy for the finish he’d do just that and finish the match. One second you say you understand he’s working heel then the next you don’t and even with being heel out of the equation it still makes since if you watch any combat sports like mma or boxing. Not using all your energy is the first thing they teach you which is why most long bouts start off slow with a bunch of feeling out rds to ensure they can still have energy to keep their hands up and defend themselves till the end. Your logic don’t make sense not Brets wether what he said was true or not or how he really felt or not you big Jabroni.

Bret Hart was no doubt the best heel in the business in 1997. He knocked it out of the park that year with the Hart Foundation Vs USA stuff.

I grew up a hard-core wrestling fan. My first love was WWF. My first ever favorite was the Warrior around the time if Mania 6 hecause I just wasn't a hulkamaniac. 2 years or so later it dawned on 8 year Mez just how awesome Bret Hart was. To watch him grow from a tag champion, to an INCREDIBLE IC champion, and by 1992, just s few years since Mania 6, Bret won his first world title from , of all people, Ric Flair ! The 9 year old Mark is me cried when Bret got screwed at WM9 I was lucky to be born in a generation that saw so many incredible careers, blossom in front of my eyes !

Never owned this tape but I remember very well how parts of these were reused for the Bret & Shawn Survivor Series 97 video packages and also for the Best of Wrestlemania & Best of Survivor Series tapes from 98 (the latter being for Taker Vs. Hogan).

Probably 5th or 6th here.. the earliest I’ve ever been for a Wrestling Bios video.. Great work as always 😊😊😊 Are we getting the other 3 interviews also… and How about a unsung hero’s of the WWWF / WWF ( a look at the mega stars of the first 20 years 1963-1983 of the WWF ) so we can look back at the hero’s and villains of the Pre Hogan era
