Wrestling Bios Presents - The WWE Career of Diamond Dallas Page
When people think about DDP in the WWF, we think of missed oppurtunities. Dallas Page had worked hard in WCW to become a standout superstar, becoming very popular at a time when WCW was beating WWE in the TV ratings. Diamond Dallas Page allowed the WWE to buyout his guarenteed money contract with WCW to begin work with Vince McMahon. DDP's time in WWE was memorable, but maybe for all the wrong reasons. The DDP WWE debut was questionable, to say the least.
In a continuation from my last DDP video that looked at his meteroic rise in WCW, this mini documentary from Wrestling Bios looks at the WWE Career of DDP.
Topics covered in this video include:
The decision made by DDP to join the WWF and giving up a steady cashflow to join Vince McMahon
The stalker angle including DDP, Undertaker and Undertaker's wife Sara
Vince McMahon and his booking of former WCW superstars
DDP wanting to debut in the WWE in angle with The Rock
Diamond Dallas Page becoming Positively Page
DDP leaving the WWE due to an in-ring injury
DDP returns in the WWE including at Raw 1000, Old School Raw, Royal Rumble matches and WrestleMania
Much More!

DDP married to Kimberly Page at the time and the audience was suppose to buy, DDP was stalking Undertaker's then wife Sarah. In the words of Kurt Angle to the Undertaker in reference to Sarah: "First of all, I met your wife once! I didn't even like her! I didn't even find her attractive!"
@BIGTABBY420
@BIGTABBY420 4 жыл бұрын
As far as wrestling fans had last seen Kimberly had turned on DDP. Why not say he went a little crazy after her betrayal? Besides Sara was attractive, who's to say she can't be stalked? I liked the stalker angle, his promo after being revealed was great and he got to work with Taker! That should be a highlight for anyone's career. I do wish he would have gotten to do the angle w/ the Rock... but his idea for a debut SUCKED.

DDP's angle should have been a feud with Austin where he tried to draw out the real Stone Cold, cause bringing out the best in people was half his gimmick in WCW. Or a hhh fued because hhh was trying to steal his finisher earlier in his career. Maybe he could have convinced Scott hall and stone cold to stick around since they were all friends.

I think the motivational speaker character probably did more damage to DDP’s longevity than the Stalker. The Stalker at least played into the smirking villain that DDP was in “Ready to Rumble,” a film that most of the WWF audience was probably more familiar with, than the last two years of WCW. Once he wasn’t a strong face or a strong heel, he was just a guy with a disturbing smile. That’s no character at all.

The answer to why Vince wouldn't let DDP go out and be DDP is because he was super over and vince knew it. He couldn't have some WCW guy coming over and being liked more than his guys so that's why he turned him into a weirdo. Vince and his stupid ass ego totally botched the invasion angle which in my opinion is the biggest botch in wrestling history. It's unbelievable the opportunity that the WWF wasted just to gloat about winning the Monday night wars.

There's no question that DDP got screwed in his time with wwe. McMahon hated WCW. A lot of favoritism BS from him. Some would say DDP didn't get screwed because he was in Wrestlemania 18. But the bigger picture is he should have been given a big push with the right storlyline/angle. Every big star in WCW should have been given a fair shot in the wwe. Even the upper mid cards who were one step away from becoming a superstar. Even if DDP didn't get injured McMahon would have found a way to get rid of him. Sure DDP was older but so what, he was still very believable and could still put on a good match at 45 which is amazing. I could tell DDP took real good care of himself behind the scenes to be able to go in the ring.

I actually like the Sara angle... But i was a kid that never watched WCW so i had no idea who DDP was.

As a young kid in WCW DDP was my Favorite wrestler.. I thought he was a Great wrestler, and i liked his gimmick.. This edgy guy that looked kinda grungy, and just did his job and minded his business and i liked his finisher the Diamond Cutter.. And secondly, the initials of my name are DDP..

Wwe killed his popular career pushing him down when we all loved his original style and who he was the money was there. I loved it when he was who he was "The Master Of "The DIAMOND CUTTER"!!!!!
