Vince ruins any strong heel faction when they got something good going. He meddled with Undertaker's ministry. He meddled with HHH's McMahon- Helmsley era. He meddled in the 2Man Power Trip. Hollywood Rock/Hogan feud. The Corporation and so on...

I’ve always enjoyed this show, and I truly believe this PPV was the peak of the mountain we call the Attitude Era. It marked the end of the original Austin vs McMahon feud, the end of the Austin vs Undertaker feud, and was officially the beginning of Triple H being a World Title contender. While the Attitude Era continued on for a few more years, this really stands out as the end of the first half of it to me.

If he made DX, why would he want Dogg and Pac financially benefitting from his creation even if he isn't participating? He wants his IP. It's business. They think DX is about passion and pride over money. Yet, HHH pointed out they weren't exactly turning away all the merch checks.

Title changes during house shows are so stupid. It confuses the audience at home and the fans who only attend the weekly shows and PPVs. Not everyone is part of the IWC, who look up house show results all the time. And in this case, Jeff Jarrett wins the title back from Edge just mere days. Then again, this is 1999 WWF, so hot potato-ing champions was par for the course.

I liked it back at the time, even if the reign was over sharpish. I liked seeing unexpected stuff happen, and Edge with singles gold was well deserved and an endorsement from backstage that there'd be more gold in the future. It was a thank you for your remarkable work. The Brood sank because of Gangrel being a terrible promo, but Edge did himself no harm by almost saving the segment. I think Vince held it against Christian from then on because while Gangrel was sh*thing the bed in their first promo on the first Smackdown, Christian stayed more and Edge tried to take control and did his best to save the segment. Edge getting that title was just to give him a little taste.

Great video! Shin Blackman is great, and now I kinda wish they had done something along those lines; make him super friendly before some kind of pre-match ritual, and then he becomes all business. Late stage Attitude Era was the best time in wrestling history. I wasnt around to see the heyday of the territory days, but I lived through WWF in 1997 to 2000 and that was some of the best not only wrestling, but best television produced ever. Incredibly compelling and watchable. Wrestling will never be this good again.

1996 into 1997 is my favorite time. The personas and storylines that would dominate the next few years were just being formed. The wrestlers and writers didn't yet know the gold that they had and made for a less contrived product.

The end of the Austin vs McMahon feud which means the Attitude Era is halfway over. The next few months are kind of hard to get through, but once 2000 arrives we get the best part of the Attitude Era (I think that is due to a certain writer jumping ship to WCW in the fall of '99). Where the stories are pretty solid and the match quality improves. During the second half of the Attitude Era we get the debuts of Jericho, Kurt Angle, and the Radicalz. We'll also get Triple H was the top heel, becoming the guy you love to hate.

Austin marks forget DX was just as over in 98 as Austin. In 97, Austin cannot be disputed. 98-99, different story. The crowd chants, merch, even other talent were referencing DX stuff in their promos, and Val Venus character was created because of it. Fans loved both acts equally, which is why the reacted so strongly when HHH turned at WM15.

We have finally reached the point where the WWF European Championship becomes what, I feel, it was best at being: WWF's "TV Title" for the undercard. I remember watching WWF from around this point on & really loving the European Title scene, because it truly felt like it could change hands at any point, which in turn made it feel like European Title matches were truly unpredictable. In fact, Reliving the War will see 15 European Title changes up through the end at Mania X-7, and of those only seven of those changes will happen at PPVs, with the one at X-7 actually being the last time the title would ever change hands at a PPV.

That's not why the realigned but yes, DX was drawing the same merch money as Austin. The only difference is Austin didn't have to split his profits 5 ways after WWF's percentage.

Fully loaded 2000 was the t*ts. Angle's first main event feud with Taker was fun, the last man standing match was brilliant, and the title match took the heat and ran with it, Rock v Benoit is one of the most underrated feuds of all time. Also, Hardy's/Lita v t&a/Trish 6 person was fire, edge and Christian pretending to be sick so they wouldn't have to defend their belts against the APA was funny and Rikishi nearly stole the show by jumping off the cage. Near perfect pay per view, even had a Saturn v Guerrero European title match
